My birthday & mini review of Ocean's 13
I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who gave me best wishes for my birthday. I enjoyed reading them all and I did have a good day. Special thanks to
chasingangel82 and
jenniferkaos for their special gifts. *hugs* That was so sweet! :D
My best friend (I call her GeckoGirl here on my LJ) and I had a fun time. We had brunch at Denny's, talked, and then went to go see the movie "Ocean's 13". Watching Clooney and Company's not a bad way to spend part of the day! What a fun movie!

The film was a pleasant return to everything that made the first installment, "Ocean's 11", such a great experience. No more convoluted storylines with hardly any humor. I think taking the group away from Las Vegas really hurt the second film. Vegas is their turf. They belong there. Sure, having the gang work a job over in exotic Europe sounds good on paper, but it proved to be less than successful. The first time I watched "Ocean's Twelve" I couldn't keep up with what the heck was going on most of the time. They kept jumping around so much and backflashing that it became a jumbled up mess. When I watched it a second time, it made a little more sense, but still, it lacked the flow of the first film. "Ocean's 13", luckily, proves that the winning combination of a stellar cast, a great director, and a good script can save a franchise.

Clooney never looked more debonair. And there were some very fun moments between him and Brad Pitt. One is an almost magical scene where they're walking in front of the Bellagio and talking in a sort of shorthand as though they're reading each other's thoughts. Another had me thinking of the episode Bugs in SPN. Rusty (Pitt) catches Danny watching Oprah and getting a little teary eyed over it. LOL! The scene even pays off again later on in the film. Danny and his crew find themselves struggling with their latest job, which is more about revenge than profit this time. They even end up enlisting the help of an old adversary. Some have said this is the final Ocean's movie. I hope not, but I suspect it's true. They could easily do a few more and I'm sure audiences would love it. But they probably figure 3 is enough and now it's time to move on.
Btw, GeckoGirl gave me the DVD of "Three Kings" for my birthday. I've only seen parts of that film, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of handsome George Clooney. One of my favorite films of his, is "One Fine Day". I like to see that when I'm having a bad day, or I'm not feeling well. It always seems to help. It's just a nice romantic comedy with George being very charming. A little dose of Clooney will cure whatever ails you. ;)
As far as the rest of my birthday goes, I had dinner out with my mom and later on we had some of my delicious chocolate birthday cake. YUM!!! Oh, and I would've had some pictures from my birthday to share, but my new digital camera gave me trouble and wouldn't work! Grrrrr! I've already returned it to the store and got my money back. So begins a new search for another camera. *Sigh* Technology...great when it works, sucky when it doesn't.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot...I snagged the photos of "Ocean's 13" from IMDB.
