Tue/Thurs SPN Picspam # 48 - Faith (round 2)

Faith is yet another favorite episode from S1. A daring subject, Dean nearly dying, and plenty of brotherly angst makes for a very memorable episode.

This picspam features 55 caps, covering the opening scene through Dean showing up from the hospital to surprise Sam at the motel. The caps for the first picspam of Faith can be found HERE.

Faith (continued)

This episode really gets a fast start from the beginning as we join the brothers apparently in the middle of case and ready to hunt down their latest prey...a rawhead. Action!Dean! armed and ready.


A very painful encounter for Dean. I appreciate the effort Jensen gives to these physically demanding performances. He truly makes you feel Dean's pain.


The second cap shows what was very hard to see in this episode...a severely hurt Dean. A touching moment as Sam reaches his brother and cradles his head in his hands. *sniffle* Kinda reminiscent of what Dean would find himself doing with Sam at the end of AHBL, part one. A shell-shocked Sam deals with handling things without his big brother.


I sometimes get a little teary just watching Jared in this scene. It's the first time we really saw how much he loves his brother and how scared he was of losing him.


Even on his death-bed Dean is hot. But still, great makeup job to make him look pale. "You better take care of that car, or I swear I'll haunt your ass."


Sam isn't amused with Dean's crack about taking care of the Impala. He's barely holding it together here, telling Dean they've got options. Dean's accepted his fate, "What options? You've got burial or cremation".


You can see Sam's shock at Dean's attitude, that he's given up. I love Jensen's delivery of this last line.


"It's not easy, but I'm gonna die...and you can't stop it." And then Sam's defiant response, "Just watch me".


For a long time I didn't really appreciate Jared's performance in this scene, but he does a wonderful job. His voice quivers and the way he talks about Dean and how he's not going to give up on finding a way to save him...just beautiful.


Whenever I see this scene where Sam bites his nails, I think of the S2 ep ELAC where Dean does the same thing.


Again, a great reaction from Jared here as Sam shows both relief and horror at Dean showing up at the door. Meanwhile, Jensen does another great job of showing Dean's painful, weakened state.


Sam points out that he's not buying Dean's acceptance of his death. "It's crap. I can see right through it." Dean: "Yeah, whatever, dude."


I like how Sam is the protector this time, taking care of Dean for once. Sam says he's found an answer, a way to save Dean. "You're not gonna let me die in peace, are you?"


Sam: "I'm not going to let you die, period." Awwww! *hugs boys*
