One of my favorite S1 Dean images. :)
Didn't get much accomplished Wednesday. Took care of a RL errand then failed to exercise as I'd planned. *sigh* Then I got caught up watching the Stanley Cup final and the riots in Vancouver that followed. :( I love Vancouver and it's sad that some people used the Canucks loss to be wild and destructive and possibly mar the world's perspective of the city. There's going to be a lot of cleaning up in the morning, but already the good people of the city are banding together. Now that's the Canadians I know about! Everyone have a good Thursday. *hugs*
Follow up on the Vancouver riots
Good to see the people of Vancouver rally and clean up the city after yesterday's mess following the Stanley Cup final. As voiced on my Twitter feed today, THIS is the Vancouver I know and love. :D

Saw the Vancouver police chief's press conference on the local news earlier.

Not sure I buy that it was a small group of outsiders. From the video I watched last night, hundreds of people were actively involved in the destruction, fighting, and looting. Practically all were young males. The outsiders may have lit the flame of violence last night, but I suspect a lot of local and drunken idiotic youths kept it going.
Despite what happened last night, I believe this dark spot over the city is only temporary. As shown by the community's massive cleanup effort, Vancouver is still a beautiful city with good people. It's still the city I love to visit, my "2nd home to the north". :)

The chief referred to those who took part in the riots as "young men and women disguised as Canucks fans who were actually criminals and anarchists. These were people who came equipped with masks, goggles and gasoline, even fire extinguishers that they would use as weapons."
Chu said many had also been arrested in violent protests in last year's Winter Olympics.

More about the Vancouver Riots
Sorry, more about the riots. I don't mean to keep harping on this, but this was all quite shocking last night.
An excellent article stating that this was caused by more than just a small group of hooligans, as the mayor stated last night. The comments are worth a read as well.

Walking: Day 19
After not walking yesterday when I should, I made a pointed effort to squeeze one in today. Still, by the time I got out there it was after 7 p.m. Thank goodness the sun doesn't set until after 9 now. ;)
Remembered to tie my shoes loosely and kept my pace nice and slow without being too slow. Had a little leg pain, but once I dropped my speed down just a hair, it eased off and didn't come back. I picked up the pace at some times and eased back at others and it seemed to really help. It meant that I walked longer for the distance I covered, but at least I wasn't in agonizing pain. I was a little tired near the end, but not so much that I felt I couldn't finish.
Stats from MapMyWalk.com:
Miles = 1.80
Time = 37 minutes
Calories = 159
