If you read my previous post featuring the new S1 promo images over at super.repro-network's SPN Legacy site, then hopefully you'll like this one, too. New pics, mean new goodies to play with and I did...all night. I took the single photos (the double ones, were just too much to mess with) and worked with them in my new online discovery, Picnik. It's an online image editor and once I checked it out I quickly signed up (which is free & not even required).

Reasons? I've got several:

1) It's better, faster, and has more features than some regular image editors I've used.
2) Lots of great effects and excellent controls.
3) It works with Photobucket (you can work with images in your account and/or save them).
4) It's a Seattle-based company (yay! local!).
5) The fun factor is huge!

I've taken a look at some other online image editors and this, by far, is the best one out there. I'll cover some of my other findings in a future post. Meanwhile, I highly recommend Picnik. It's awesome! :D

Okay, on to the goodies.

1. Used several effects on this pic, including increasing the color saturation with Boost and the Vignette effect.

2. This one uses the Cross-Process effect along with a little bit of Neon (which I'll talk about further down the page for another pic).

3. Simple black & white...it's always a nice look on a photo like this.

4. This one uses multiple effects, including 1960s and Focal Zoom (which is really cool when you get to experimenting with it).
I really like how different this looks from the original.

5. Jensen's photo with the Holga-ish effect. It's a b&w look with some graininess and a vignette added all at once.

6. Just b&w this time, without the darkening of the above version.

7. I think this is just an orange color tint with a possible overlay effect added to it. It's a little hard to remember, you try so many things and combinations.

8. This is the Cross-Process effect in action again.

9. Drastic changes made to this photo, as I drop the intense blue of the original for b&w with a nice Focal Soften effect.

10. I didn't like how desaturated and dark the original of this was, so here is how it probably should be, with the color and exposure corrected.
No other effects were added.

11. This one uses the Orton-ish effect with lots of tweaking to the settings.

12. Again, simple b&w always works.

13. This is just b&w with a bit of dark Film Grain added.

14. The Holga-ish effect with no other tweaking needed. Perfect.

15. Another nice Color Tint effect to give it a different feel from that blue of the original.

16. I tried lots of effects on this one, but the best choice was just b&w. It works well with the deep shadows.

17. This uses the HDR-ish effect, but with the settings dialed way down. It adds further detail to everything.

18. Again with the Black and White look.

19. Another favorite photo. This is the original without any effects except for turning up the color.

20. Yep, you guessed it. Simple Black and White.

21. The Boost effect, tweaked a little. It's a color saturation effect with some contrast added in.

22. I don't recall how I did the de-saturation here, but this is with the HDR-ish effect added and tweaked a lot.

23. This version uses the Neon effect I mentioned on # 2. If you use a color that works with the main colors of the image (in this case, a pale yellow) and fade it to the 80% range, you can get this great painted look. I really like it. There's a softening of the image, yet you don't lose a lot of detail.

24. Another Color Tint that was tweaked. I hit on the yellow color range and liked the effect it gave.

I hope my comments where helpful. If you have any questions, just let me know. Also, if you have any requests (resizing, text or frame added, want an icon made from one of these?) I'll try my best to answer those as well. Your feedback is really valuable to me, so don't hesitate to let me know what you think of these. Thanks! :D
