Yes, I'm still alive. Can't blame you for wondering, since I've been dead silent since the beginning of the year and here we are starting on April. Have I given up hope of posting on here weekly? Hell, no. I've realized I just need to get back into the habit.

For years logging into LJ was a daily occurrence. Now, I have to purposely remind myself that this place even exists. Sad, but I'm sure it's been the same for some of you. But the hope is to at least post once a week.

I just did a Friends cut, which I planned on doing nearly a year ago. Well, this time I decided not to just talk about it, but rip that band-aid right off! So it's done. I kept a lot of people that I probably should've cut, but we're friends elsewhere or nostalgia kept me from hitting that "unfriend" button.

In all I cut 16 Friends and there were 7 purged accounts I cut myself from. *sigh*

Mom & I have been watching several old TV series lately. We've recently completed: Gilmore Girls, WKRP In Cincinnati, and Are You Being Served? (which got old to me awfully fast and then the original cast got broke up - *sigh*).

Funny how they said FreeVee TV was going to disappear last year and yet it's still going. Was surprised to see Dharma & Greg playing on it the other day, but sadly it's only as a "live TV" option. Still, it was fun to watch some episodes again, especially since Pluto TV's app has been breaking up so much lately. Bleh. Plus they seem to be showing the same episodes over and over again.

I never bring up politics here, but...OMG Senator Cory Booker is a hero! I watched the last 3 hours of his record-breaking speech yesterday. Finally! A Democrat taking some action! I hope this spurs others on because we need some hope!

Hey! I'm back! little-cutie-says-hello-smiley-emoticon
So sorry for the long silence of over 2 months. *sigh* It was NOT intentional at all.
Life, y'all. It's a crazy mess!

But I'm not going to let it stop me. Last week, I updated the look of this journal for Fall.
Very orangey, I know. LOL

And now...to hopefully get myself regularly posting here - I'm unofficially joining in on NaBloPoMo2024. I didn't fill out the form to officially join-in...I'm just doing this for all of you (and myself). Do I promise I'm going to post every day of November? I'll try, but I make no guarantees.

Feel free to join me, if you like. Check out the link below for more information.

BTW, the above image is not mine. It was on the email from iHanna: https://www.ihanna.nu/ .

In other news...I'm about to start my "usual" annual re-watch of Gilmore Girls. I normally would've started a month ago, but again...that darned "real life" getting in my way! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me in my re-watch? We wouldn't watch the episodes together (because scheduling is hard!) but we would agree to converse together (through email, messaging, whatever) about our thoughts of each episode plus post thoughts to our journals. It would be nice to watch 1 or 2 episodes per week. I'd like to start this coming Monday, Nov. 4th. Anyone up for it?

It's interesting what you discover while trying to do something else entirely...

I was attempting to finish off my timing of the Sam & Dean hugs from SPN Season 15 for SuperWiki (yes, finally!) and thought I'd check out my own episode reviews to help me.
Problem.

The last review I did was for SPN 15x08!!!! Way back in January of 2020!!!!
What. The. Hell??? sSig_aaarggh

I had no idea that I'd never finished my episode reviews aka First Impressions. 1237373utapqan9n9

So now I need to catch up on 2 SPN projects!
I'm telling ya...life has seriously taken over. Not only has it interfered with posting regularly, but it's made me forgetful.

Which makes me wonder...
What other projects on LJ have I left unfinished??? *sigh*
raloria: (J2 Love 01)
Yes, I'm still here.
Sorry for the long silence! RL just keeps taking over. Grrr!

Wow! Eighteen years here on LJ. It all began with SPN, of course: first lurking around and then finally starting my account, then joining communities and connecting with people. Ah, the good old days! I do miss them. So thankful that some of you are still around.

I updated the look of my journal a bit for the summer. :)

Been thinking about doing another SPN Name That Cap Challenge.
Anyone remember that? It's been 2 years. Anyone up to playing?

With Walker (sadly) ending, I hope to have a little more time on my hands for posting here.
It'll also give me a chance to resume capping SPN episodes again for [community profile] fangasm.
I desperately want to FINALLY get back to updating/overhauling things over at [community profile] spn_locations, too!
Need to resume posting Soldier Boy caps over at paradisi-pictura as well.

So there's plenty to do...just need to get back into the habit of being here.
raloria: (Misc 01)
Apologies for my long absence, yet again. Real Life sucks right now. Actually, it's been sucking for over 2 weeks and doesn't show any signs of improvement yet.

Because of this, most of my plans/projects have fallen by the wayside. I'm still determined to get them done, just don't know when.

However, recently I did do some internet searching in order to fill one of my capping projects (that's been let go far too long). At first, I didn't find anything, but lo and behold, my second search yielded some results! Anyway, I will reveal this new capping job in an upcoming separate post.

Ugh! Will I EVER get back to posting regularly on here again???
I hope so. *hugs you all*
raloria: (SPN01)
Alright, it was actually yesterday (Saturday), but I was busy and LJ was down. Thought I'd mark the anniversary anyway.

ishot-104

Completely forgot that back for the first challenge I'd post 2 caps to guess on! But then back in 2007, we only had 2 seasons of caps to work with! LOL

Anyway, I'd like to thank anyone who ever played in the challenge over the years. After all, your participation is what makes the whole thing work. :)

Not sure when I'll have another SPN Name That Cap Challenge, but I hope to.

Well, Livejournal is still around!
But it begs the question, "For how long?".

For now, I'm existing on both sites. Pretty much all the communities have been imported over to DW, including [community profile] positively_spn. But I find it hard to give up on LJ as long as it's still around. At the same time, it's a little weird to be existing in both places. Plus, everything on DW is still in a state of "not totally finished" as far as the look goes and making sure all the links work, etc. I did a little cleaning up to [community profile] spn_locations, but that's about it. Ugh! I hate this uncertainty about LJ's existence!

+ How does everyone else feel?
+ Are you still existing/posting to both LJ & DW or have you totally given up on LJ?
+ If you're still on LJ, how long do you intend to stick around?

raloria: (Impala)
Success!!!

FINALLY got [community profile] hurtwinchesters imported to DW. I honestly thought it was never going to work. I lost count of how many times I tried it.

Also moved over [community profile] spnconcatalog and an old secondary LJ account I had. Phew!

This leaves [community profile] positively_spn. Gah! I still don't know what to do about it.

Found this nice little guide to those of us trying to navigate the differences between LJ & DW:
A guide to Dreamwidth for LiveJournal users

Still posting to both accounts.
raloria: (Default)
After fearing how long importing my LJ to my Dreamwidth journal would be, it took less than a day. And that's with over 14,000 entries! I'm very impressed!

Sadly, none of the comments imported over.
When I tried to do another import with just the comments selected, it wouldn't work without also selecting the entries. So I guess I'll have to give up on retrieving the comments. *sigh*

But the important part is the posts/entries. At least they're saved!
Only about 3 didn't import and they're from 2013 and for some reason the caps are missing, so there's nothing in the posts anymore. Weird. So no big loss there.

The tags all imported as well, but there's a lot of cleanup to do. Darned LJ and it's automatic tagging of all hashtags! Grrrr!

Right now I'm attempting to import over all the stuff from [community profile] spn_locations. It keeps aborting. :(
EDIT: Success! However, it failed to import the posts I had set for Private because they were entries I was still working on. Hmph! Guess I'll have to copy & paste them over.

If I have time, I'll also import over my other comms: [community profile] hurtwinchesters, [community profile] spnconcatalog, [profile] spn_ontheset (Note below).
I fear I'll probably lose [community profile] positively_spn, but I was considering shutting it down anyway.

HEADS UP: If you have any images in LJ's Scrapbook, they probably will NOT import over into DW. None of mine did. Plus...I found out there is no way to bulk download the images from LJ's Scrapbook. Peachy! So I'm just going to asssume I have all of those images already saved elsewhere & forget about them. But this is why I no longer see any point to importing [profile] spn_ontheset over. All of it's images were from LJ's Scrapbook. Hey, I thought LJ would be around forever....yeah, right! Bye, bye community! You were wonderful! *sigh*

//////////////////////////

I can already see there's gonna be a TON OF WORK to do cleaning up things on the Dreamwidth side of all of this. Plus, I'm still trying to figure DW out! Not everything is as clear to use as it is on LJ. I mean...I've had DW for YEARS, but I've hardly ever used it! And can I say this is all crazy trying to do this much stuff (in amongst everything else!) in only a few days!

//////////////////////////

NOTE: For the time being I'll continue to post the same thing to both LJ & Dreamwidth journals.
raloria: (Default)
With LJ's near future in jeopardy, I'm going to be posting to this journal again. All posts from now on will be on both sites...until we have some idea of LJ's fate.

I've already found and have added some of you to my "Circle" as Dreamwidth calls Friends. I hope you'll follow me back here. Don't wanna lose contact with my LJ buddies!

It's going to be an interesting next few days as we see what happens.
raloria: (Default)
Well, the news just keeps getting better and better tonight! *sigh*

I wondered if LJ was going to be in danger and now it really might be. I've been here so long, have so MANY entries...there's no way it can all be backed up in any way. This is terrible!

I've had a Dreamwidth account for many years, but haven't used it since 2013. Guess that'll change now.

I'm raloria on Dreamwidth, too.

Here's where else you can find me:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/spndeangirl
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ralval73/
Tumblr **: http://roadtoshambala.tumblr.com/

** Again, haven't used Tumblr in years...which might change if LJ does disappear.

And here I am in the middle of the Final SPN Name That Cap Challenge! Guess I'd better back that up over on the Dreamwidth account, just in case. Then there's my LJ communities... Crap! How do I save it all??? And in 3 days???

Edit: Just set up the import to my Dreamwidth. I figured the sooner it started the better, since it might take a few days.

Hi all!

Finally took some time to re-do the look of my journal: replacing the Xmas stuff for more...Feb/Valentine's Day stuff. Yeah, I know Valentine's Day was today, but I wanted a look that wasn't winter, but not quite spring yet either. So this is somewhere in between IMO.

I'm also planning on answering all of your comments from this year. Yeah, finally.
I do NOT want a repeat of last year where I didn't end up replying back to anyone. My apologies about that.
This year I'm going to do better!

Edit: Ok, I didn't get to replying to comments tonight, but I will do it tomorrow.

2nd Edit: Done! Ok, the only post I haven't replied to comments on is the Dreamwidth Poll one, but that's because I'm currently having keyboard issues (specifically the middle row of letters) and trying to make long replies using the Mac's Keyboard Viewer is kind of a pain. So I'll get to replying to those Dreamwidth comments...another way.

Hello...long time, no hear, I know.

I realize that in the past several months my LJ posts have dropped off a bit. My schedule is such right now, that I often don't even get online Wednesday or Thursday nights anymore. My Just 'Cause posts are not the daily thing they used to be. Sadly, I don't see this changing anytime soon.

However, I have been taking steps to increase my posts a bit.

SPN may be over, but I've got a TON of things left to post for it. If you knew the number of misc. videos alone that need to be capped....yikes!

And then there's capping the episodes themselves, which I've never been able to complete. Well, I'm a completionist and I fully intend to cap every SPN episode. And only a few seasons of SPN have been fully capped (10, 13, 15). So there's a lot to do.

Fortunately, I'm providing the caps for Fangasm on Twitter as she's currently doing a big SPN rewatch and reviewing each episode on her website. We didn't hook up right away, but I started capping for her with the end of Season 1. She's currently about in the middle of Season 2. So for me, this is a great way to get the episodes capped and help out a fellow fan. Btw, I'm also sharing my Walker caps with Lynn and the folks at WinchesterFamilyBusiness.com for all of their reviews.

I know what you're thinking...we haven't seen any of these episode cap posts (outside of Walker).
I hope to start posting them real soon!

See, I realized something was holding me back from posting the SPN episode caps, which is actually kind of silly. I'd been making a fanart piece for my cap posts, with the name & # of the episode and all that. Problem is, these take time to make. Time that I don't have in abundance anymore. Again, the completionist in me says I should continue the tradition....but the realist in me is saying, "The hell with that!". My cap posts don't NEED fanart "headers" or whatever you wanna call them. All I need is a sample cap outside of the cut and it'll be fine ('cause we're all attracted to pretty & a post without something visual is just plain boring!). So instead of letting a little thing like a perfect post header getting in the way of posting things...I'm going to make it easier on myself and thus share things with you all a bit faster. Better for everyone! ;)

I'm terribly late with this post (nearly 2 weeks!), but better late than never as the saying goes, right?

I'd like to thank all of you for your lovely birthday wishes for me: [livejournal.com profile] casey28, [livejournal.com profile] enablelove [livejournal.com profile] alwaysateen [livejournal.com profile] kalliel and thank you so much for the virtual gift, [livejournal.com profile] dizzojay!

Since I jumped on board Livejournal. Hard to believe it's been that long.
I sort of feel like one of the "Old Guard" that's still here, keeping the dwindling SPN fandom going.

To those who have stuck around all these years, I can't thank you enough. Thank you for being my friends and putting up with me through all the ups and downs. I know that while I'm still posting here on LJ, I'm not really talking a lot around here and for that I'm sorry. I want to do better, but life has been so screwy that it can be hard to find the energy and time needed to be on here as I should. All I can say is that I want to improve and hopefully I will.

raloria: (Default)
Hey! I almost forgot about this anniversary!

Way back on this date in 2008 (hey, it rhymes!)...I shared my first complete set of SPN caps...for the Pilot.
Sadly, PhotoBucket has since watermarked them & the MediaFire account the zipped folders were uploaded to is now out of commission. It really doesn't matter. I mean look at the size of the caps. Icky small ones compared to what I do now. So you're really not missing anything. And I've since re-capped and re-uploaded much better caps from the Pilot anyhow. ;)

But it's nice to look back on my humble capping beginnings.

raloria: (Default)
Having a hard time figuring out which Misc. Cap sets to tackle & post next so....I thought I'd ask all of you!
Obviously, these will all be shared, but I'm curious what you want first. Plus, there's many more videos to cap after all of these are done!

Note: The VanCon 2018 caps are from my own video of the start of the panel. ;)

It's that time yet again.

Thankfully, I'm only behind for the past 3 months (Oct-Nov-Dec). So tonight I'm pulling double duty: washing dishes and replying back to comments from all of you.

Hopefully, this year I can keep on top of replies even better than last year (which was an improvement over the year before).

Thanks for your patience!

Finished!

Not bad for missing a day or two throughout the year. :P
