I wondered if LJ was going to be in danger and now it really might be. I've been here so long, have so MANY entries...there's no way it can all be backed up in any way. This is terrible!

While perusing through Tumblr this morning, I came across this excellent, educational piece about TV writing from an actual screenwriter.

Now that I've seen the awards and processing SPN's winnings the importance of the evening has really set in.

This was a big night for SPN, no doubt about it. Jensen & Jared were there in person and they picked up two wins, not to mention getting interviewed and photographed on the red carpet. More exposure for them and the show, though in the grand scheme of Hollywood SPN is still small potatoes.

I know some people are lamenting that neither of the boys won the Fav Dramatic Actor award. But it's just one award and considering both of the guys were nominated I think the numbers were simply against either of them coming up with a win.

But to put SPN's wins a bit more into perspective, I made this post on Tumblr:

How great were SPN’s wins at the PCAs last night?

Pretty darned amazing when you compare to how the competition did. I only looked at these 2 shows because they were nominated in many of the same categories SPN was and they also have large fanbases.

The Vampire Diaries - 4 Nominations, 0 Wins

Once Upon A Time - 4 Nominations, 0 Wins

Supernatural - 3 Nominations, 2 Wins

Not bad at all for the “little show that could” that’s in it’s 8th season. :)

I was honestly a little shocked that the other 2 shows didn't get anything. As the older show, one would think SPN would be more likely to be forgotten and pushed into the background, but you can't underestimate this fandom!

The other thing I noticed during the show was how some winners kept referring to it being the "people's choice awards" and "it's about the people". It started to feel so impersonal. I mean, we're all people, but only some of us are "fans". I thought it was very nice that when Jensen & Jared were accepting the win for SciFi/Fantasy Show that Jared used the word "fans". Further shows how appreciative the guys are towards the people that make up the fanbase and how we truly are a family. I have no personal knowledge on the fans of other shows, but I get an impression that the bond the fans of SPN have with not only the stars of the show but the crew as well is a special one. They know us and we know them. Look how accessible the SPN cast & crew are with all the conventions year after year. I don't see that happening with The Vampire Diaries or Once Upon A Time. Makes me feel even more fortunate to be a part of this wonderful show that's touched so many of our lives. We truly have something to be proud of and thankful for.

I don't normally post things from Tumblr here, since I like to keep LJ and Tumblr separate, but when I came across this photoset tonight, I had to share.

The only pic here I recognize is the one in the bottom left corner. I've never seen the others, but they clearly come from the Japanese magazine photo shoot from a few years ago. Sadly, all the pics in the photoset are tiny as you see them here. Gah! So frustrating. *wants*

A photo-op with Jensen, Jared, & Misha is now available for Toronto Con next month. Color me jealous. This NEEDS to be added to VanCon next year...not to mention all the Creation SPN cons. *g*
Already way behind on my TV viewing. Still have most of So You Think You Can Dance to watch and now I'm 3 eps behind on Parenthood. And because Castle, Hawaii Five-O, and Revolution are all on at the same time, that means I have to watch Castle live and download the other 2. This is going to be a busy TV season. Oy.
Have resumed capping SPN Season 7...this time on my MacBook Pro. Didn't know if it would work, because I've been using my PC for 1-14 of S7 and the settings on VLC are different between the two machines. However, I capped 7x14 and they turned out fine. I've already done 7x15 and I'll see about capping 7x16 tonight.
Got a request for caps from the Season 7 Gag Reel, so I'm in the process of sorting/deleting and will soon have those fixed and ready for posting. Have thought of capping the "Angeles" video, too. Anyone interested?
Still in the slow process of uploading zipped folders of my VanCon photos to MediaFire. At over 800 photos for the J2 Panel alone, I had to break it up into 12 folders. The good news is, I only have 5 more to do! Then I'll be able to upload a few samples to PhotoBucket or Scrapbook and the posting will commence soon afterward. Hopefully everyone will still be interested in seeing them a full month after the event.
I've chosen the 25 caps that will be in my Name That Cap Challenge 3 Final on Oct. 2nd. Person who gets the most correct wins 3 icons made by me. I've been asked to continue the challenge on Tumblr, and while it's an interesting idea I'm not sure it would go over as well there. Plus, I need a little break. This challenge has been active for over a year and with the new season of SPN about to begin I'll be busy dealing with those new eps (capping, reviewing). The Cap Challenge will return...probably during the next summer hiatus. ;)

:: Re-locating
I've had my PC on my aunt's dining room table since I moved the system over here last winter. Things were fine, but lately my internet has been horrible out here. It's almost as bad as dial-up at times. So I'm going to re-locate the whole kit-&-kaboodle over to her makeshift desk (a closet door on two short file cabinets). I already know the Clearwire receiver works better over there (helps having the patio door right there). Just gotta get all my aunt's "stuff" off the "desk". Peachy.

:: Tumblr/LJ Cut
It's a bit overdue, but I'm planning on doing a friends cut not only here on LJ, but on Tumblr as well. Entirely too much Sherlock and Teen Wolf stuff on my Tumblr Dashboard. No offense to those who watch, but they're just not my things. On the LJ side of things, there's some people who barely post anymore or who I just haven't connected with. Time to cut ties.

:: Walking/Weight Loss
Even though I've still got this cold from VanCon, I'm eager to get back to walking. The weather is still cooperating and my legs are itching to get out there other than the brief walk each day over to the house to get the mail and paper. My weight is super low, well, lower than it's been since I came back from the first VanCon in '09. :D Really want to keep it down there, despite the goodies I bought last week (maple donuts *gasps*).

:: Phone Woes
I'm soooo eager to get a new cell phone. You have no idea. I'm way overdue for a step into the 21st Century. *sigh* Didn't get one before VanCon because we were simply too busy and then ran out of time to shop for one, but now... *wants* Some days I'm so close to simply flinging this antique into the nearest wall and telling mom we're going to get a new one - NOW. Soon....I hope. *crosses fingers*

:: Gilmore Girls Marathon
Yep, it's GG time! I feel like I need to watch this show at least once a year. I go through withdrawal if I don't. Really, I do. Besides, we're almost through all our movies. *gasps* And Jared's sooooo cute! *squishes him* I just love all the characters and I wanna live in Rory & Lorelei's house. :D

Ok, I think that's it, though knowing me I'll think of something I should've added to this post as soon as I hit the Post button. :P

It's late at night, I'm tired and slightly bored. So my brain gets to thinking about things. That's always dangerous. :P

I got to wondering if there was any LJ comm or Tumblr blog for VanCon. Yes, technically, there is one on LJ, but that's for announcements of the upcoming VanCon. My idea is to make a place to share pictures and such about the past 3 VanCons...along with anticipating this year's con. ;)

It’ll be a place for people to share photos, videos, stories, and more. Sure, all the SPN cons are special, but there is something extra special about the ones in Vancouver. They film there, the crew is there, and it’s a beautiful city.

I posted about this on Tumblr as well because I think this idea could work well there, too. But I really don't expect any response to my question over there. I know my LJ family won't let me down for responses. ;)

What do you think? Brilliant idea or am I totally nuts?

I'm posting this using LJ's Scheduled Post feature. Let's hope it works.

I've been doing some thinking and re-evaluating lately and come to the conclusion that I'm spreading myself a bit too thin in some areas online.

Most specifically, Tumblr & LJ.

No, I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be on both sites, just not in so many places.

My LJ comm,

atickettodream, hasn't taken off like I'd hoped and in reality I can't devote the amount of time to it as I'd like (you'll find that's a recurrent theme). As much as I wanted it to work, I think I'm better off posting a movie trailer or clip to my regular LJ every now and then.

I finally plan on shutting down my other filmmaking LJ (for those on my flist who remember it). Meant to do that last year, but it never got done. First I'd like to save the whole thing, just for nostalgia, so I have a copy of what I posted there.

As for the Tumblr side of things, my I Love Vancouver one was a great idea, but again it was hard to keep posting regularly. I think I'll do better just posting the occasional pic of Vancouver to my regular Tumblr: RoadToShambala.

I'll also be shutting down my other Tumblr, SPNOnLocation. Another once-cool idea that really isn't anymore because I can't post to it as often as I should. I think my SPN Locations List here on LJ will stand on it's own as a resource. Again, if I feel the desire to post any of this stuff to Tumblr I'll stick to using my original one.

Some of you on my flist might recall I also started a Tumblr for my photographs. I'll be taking that down as well. It wasn't posted to very often either and I'd rather continue to post pics here on LJ or on my Flickr account.

So there you have it. A thinning of the heard, you might say. :P
I go into these "projects" (for lack of a better word) with lots of enthusiasm and purpose, but RL situations often get in the way. I'm discovering that dealing with one LJ (and one comm) and one Tumblr sounds like plenty.

I'm starting my Spring Cleaning a little early.

Today I'm going through the list of Tumblrs I follow and re-evaluating them. I plan on unfollowing a bunch of them. Either they haven't posted in months or a year or their postings have changed.

If your Tumblr is mostly about Sherlock or Doctor Who, I'd expect to be unfollowed.
Sorry, but I'm not into those shows at all and lately my Dashboard has been full of those shows and enough is enough. I want my Tumblr Dash to be full of pretty pics, SPN, Jensen, Jared, Misha, or anything H5O or TVD.

No offense if I unfollow your Tumblr. I'm sure we either follow each other here on LJ or on Twitter.

Got this cool (I think) idea in my head late last night to post some caps from SPN.

I know what you're thinking: I already post caps from SPN. These are...different, specific. I don't want to give too much away and for all I know somebody's already done this, but I think it's a neat idea. I already have S1 all ready to go, but the thought struck me...where do I post these?

My initial thought was to post them to Tumblr, but I know not everyone is interested in things there. I could make it work for LJ though, so that option is still open. Anyway, I can't decide so...poll!!!! :D

Oh, btw, this would be like a cap each day sort of thing...until I'm caught up to the current season and then it would be weekly. Yeah, that's all I can tell you. *iz super mysterious* :P
