I tried looking this up on LJ's help page. Ha! Yeah, that was a laugh.

I mean...I like this feature, but it seems incomplete & one-sided. What's the point?

I feel as though I should apologize for the lack of posts around here, specifically, the lack of SPN Season 15 Screencaps.

I just finished downloading an upgrade of the VLC Player, which I use for capping. Oh, yay! New settings to learn. I'd also gotten a Hi-Res DL of SPN 15x05, which is rare for me because the files are usually so big and I just can't spare the internet data right now. But I found a smaller file size one and got it. After a bunch of experiments with the settings in VLC, I finally got some good looking caps.

And here I thought I'd figured out the settings on VLC for the season last month. Wrong!
Anyway, long story aside...I think I've got it all figured out. *hopes*
And I've only officially capped 15x01. *sigh*

So I'm super behind and it's bothering me.
But y'all are so patient with me. :)

But I'm also wondering: Am I going through all this for nothing?
I know there's some of you who download my caps. Thank you! *loves*
But am I trying to make the quality of my caps too good?
Am I putting far too much into caps that people will like no matter what I do?
Am I torturing myself over these caps far too much?

So many questions!

I've always prided myself on putting out the best screencaps I possibly can. Over the years, I've spent a lot of time trying different software and techniques to achieve this and I like to think I've been successful for the most part. I've also tried not to give you too many caps. Lots of other capping sites give you pretty much every image they can from a movie or TV episode. There's thousands of caps! I try not to do that if I can. I can't see having 10 caps of a moment/character that all look relatively alike. So I try to only capture images that are in focus, clear, and the best that I can get.

So what do you all think?
Do you want me to include more caps for each episode of SPN?

For example:
+++ I usually try to keep the Highlight Caps for each episode at under 1,000 caps (if at all possible).
+++ A full set of Episode Caps, which would include everything, could easily be over 1,000 or close to 2,000 caps.
+++ When I have Hi-Res Caps of an episode, I prefer to keep the initial set per episode at 100 caps or less. If there's more, I make an Extras set of caps.

I suppose this is all super confusing and I'm probably putting more work into this all than I should.
But I leave it all up to you folks.
What are your opinions?
You want bigger cap sets per episode or smaller?
Is the quality good or isn't it all that important to you?

In preparation for the upcoming SPN Hiatus, I've been thinking of what projects I want/need to work on over the next 5 or so months. Tonight I compiled a list of 30 videos to screencap!

The question is NOT "Do I want to cap these, even if nobody else wants them?". Because I want the caps myself. No, the question is...what order do I do all of these in???

To give you a rough idea of what types of videos these are:

- J2 on various talk shows from 2017 & 2018
- Hillywood's SPN Parody 2 & their other videos for it
- Various SPN Production videos...such as Jensen Directing, Making the 200th ep & "Scoobynatural", etc.
- Several EW videos of the SPN cast
- Nerd HQ SPN Panels from 2015 & 2016
- SDCC SPN Panel Videos from 2015 & 2016
- A handful of misc. type videos (again, all SPN Cast related)

How would you rate these categories above, in order of importance?
Please comment & give me a rating for each category out of 7.
For example: Hillywood (1 of 7), Nerd HQ (2 of 7), etc.
Use the underlined words above for listing purposes.

Hey gang! I got this wonderful message from a woman yesterday in my LJ Inbox, but she's not on LJ. She commented using her Facebook ID.

If I reply back to her through LJ's Inbox will she even see it???
Because I've tried this in the past and never got another response.
But at the same time it would be super weird to post a message on her Facebook page. *sigh*

It was such a lovely message and I'd so love to reply back to her, to thank her & answer her questions.
But...how???

Anyone have a solution or answers?

I've dealt with the earlier capping issue with the size/resolution of some of my cap sets. Thank goodness for a great online Batch Photo Resizer. Woot! The easiest ones to re-upload were the Season 11 Hi-Res Caps.

I've edited the SPN Hi-Res Caps: 11x04 "Baby" post so it has the new download links, sample caps, and everything with the correct size caps. Please be sure to re-download them if you did before and download them the first time if you didn't. :)

As for the other cap sets that needed re-sizing...they were the Season 12 Highlight Caps and re-uploading them is a little more complicated. Mainly 12x02 is the problem. Grrrrr. I swear, that episode's caps have given me so much trouble! I mean, there's over 800 caps for 12x02. o.O That's just....wrong. LOL For Highlights anyway. Too many!!! So I'm going to save them, as regular Episode Caps, but I'll go through and select caps to make a new, smaller set of 12x02 Highlight Caps. Then I'll be able to re-upload them and we can get back to posting the Season 12 Highlight Caps. I hope that all makes sense. :P

Now onto the other matter...

Has anyone ever deleted all their LJ userpics/icons and re-started from scratch?

I'm seriously thinking of doing this. I keep looking at my userpics and I'm just bored to death with so many of them. It's not that I don't like/love them, it's just that a lot of them have been in use for years. So I'm thinking a total refresh is in order, but I'm kinda freaked out about it, too. I know all my old posts will revert my default userpic, which I guess I'm okay with. It's just...dumping them all in one swoop. Eeek! But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it'll be freeing and rejuvenating for me. Anyway, let me know what you think and if you've ever done it.

I probably ask this every season, but it's good to know each time just to be sure.

When is it safe for me to start posting caps from Season 12 - like for Just 'Cause posts, etc.?

I just capped 12x01 and I'm itching to post a few - outside a cut and all that. ;)

Does anyone know their way around the Custom CSS coding for LJ?
I've got a custom layout for spn_locations and ever since last year the header I put up hasn't fit properly. There's a gap of white space on the right side and it's annoying me like crazy!

Here's what it looks like:


I have only a bare minimum of knowledge with CSS coding and that's purely from working with past custom layouts on LJ. My numerous attempts to put in different margins and numbers haven't changed anything, so I'm at a total loss over how to fix this problem.

Can anyone out there offer any suggestions or help?

The Just 'Cause posts are in their 8th year and honestly, I feel like I'm sort of stuck in a rut. It seems like I'm always posting the same kind of caps over and over again. But if I change things up and post something unique I get...crickets. Hardly any comments, if at all.

I realize there's some eps that have been sorely absent over the years, simply because I've never capped the episodes: "Mystery Spot" and "Hollywood Babylon" just to name a couple. While other episodes I feel I'm posting from all the time. Why do I have so many caps from "Repo Man"??? How many caps from "First Born" are too many?

Should I incorporate caps of other characters like Castiel, Crowley, Charlie, Jody, Bobby, etc.? Again, I'm unsure because I feel the Just 'Cause posts should be "All Boys All The Time!". I stick a Cas cap in every once in a while, but that's about it. Meanwhile, I've got all these caps of the other characters staring me in the face every time I go to choose a cap for the day.

Generally, every week I stick with caps of Dean, except for Sammy Tuesdays (& sometimes Fridays), and of course Impala Sunday. While we're having new episodes, I always have a cap of both brothers on Wednesdays.

I also wonder about the type of cap - do you all like the pretty close-up shots all the time or would more variety be better? Like some full-figured shots of the guys? Do you want more action/fight scene caps (even though they might be a bit blurry)? How about caps of the guys even if you can't see their face, like when they're painting a sigil or something?

So tell me:

What types of caps would you like to see in upcoming Just 'Cause posts?
What of the things listed above would you be interested in?
Do you have some other cap suggestions that I didn't mention that you'd like to see?

I'd really appreciate everyone's opinion, even if you just wanna tell me to not change a thing and keep doing what I've been doing. I would really like to know if you're all getting bored or are happy with the daily caps.
