Yes, I'm still here.
Sorry for the long silence! RL just keeps taking over. Grrr!

Wow! Eighteen years here on LJ. It all began with SPN, of course: first lurking around and then finally starting my account, then joining communities and connecting with people. Ah, the good old days! I do miss them. So thankful that some of you are still around.

I updated the look of my journal a bit for the summer. :)

Been thinking about doing another SPN Name That Cap Challenge.
Anyone remember that? It's been 2 years. Anyone up to playing?

With Walker (sadly) ending, I hope to have a little more time on my hands for posting here.
It'll also give me a chance to resume capping SPN episodes again for [community profile] fangasm.
I desperately want to FINALLY get back to updating/overhauling things over at [community profile] spn_locations, too!
Need to resume posting Soldier Boy caps over at paradisi-pictura as well.

So there's plenty to do...just need to get back into the habit of being here.

Well, Livejournal is still around!
But it begs the question, "For how long?".

For now, I'm existing on both sites. Pretty much all the communities have been imported over to DW, including [community profile] positively_spn. But I find it hard to give up on LJ as long as it's still around. At the same time, it's a little weird to be existing in both places. Plus, everything on DW is still in a state of "not totally finished" as far as the look goes and making sure all the links work, etc. I did a little cleaning up to [community profile] spn_locations, but that's about it. Ugh! I hate this uncertainty about LJ's existence!

+ How does everyone else feel?
+ Are you still existing/posting to both LJ & DW or have you totally given up on LJ?
+ If you're still on LJ, how long do you intend to stick around?

raloria: (Default)
Yes, I'm being serious here.

Let me explain... )

raloria: (Default)
Happened to discover a weird LJ Layout issue tonight.
Thankfully, it's only showing up on the Chrome & Opera Beta browsers (at least for me).
I checked it out in Safari, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, & Yandex browsers and everything looks fine on them.

The issue is having thumbnail images in an LJ post that are no longer nice and neat within the confines of the layout, but spill over in a horizontal line to the right, causing a scroll bar to appear at the bottom of the page.

Like this...Ugh!

So I apologize to anyone looking at my big image posts on my LJ or [livejournal.com profile] hurtwinchesters or [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations on the Chrome or Opera Beta browsers. Hopefully, they will update their code or whatever & those thumbnails will get back in line!

Until then, I hope you use other browsers to view LJ that don't have this issue! :)
raloria: (Default)
Especially websites. *sigh*

Had to deal with two website issues overnight. I'd been wondering why my animated gifs weren't appearing in my journal's sidebar. Turns out the site I've been using just for my gifs: Photoland.io, doesn't appear to be around anymore. It simply won't load.

So I found myself yet another image hosting site. Geez.
This time I'm using PostImage. I got all the gifs I currently have on my laptop uploaded to the site and wow was I impressed by the speed of the uploading. You can't control the size of the images in the posting codes, but I don't need that for my animations anyway. There's also only 2 ways to get the sharing/posting codes: all files together or individually. Again, not perfect, but since I only post a few gifs at a time, this really isn't a big complaint.

I re-linked the animations I had in my sidebar (as best as I could remember) and even added one. Ah, my sidebar is happy again! :D

My other website issue is with my Jottit site: Raloria's Resources. Every time I try to load the site it warns that the certificate is out of date or whatever and it's not safe to load. So I ended up using the Wayback Machine to access my site. Most of the pages were there, enough that I could save what I wanted (mainly the SPN Area Location List pages I'd made a few years ago). 'Cause I need to add those in over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations.

So that's my overnight fun. What did you do with your evening?

raloria: (Default)
I just made this animated gif because I need it in my life. ;)

 photo TIH_NotifiedMD_zps2rdz0iyv.gif

I'll be making a formal posting of this gif (and in other sizes) next week. Stay tuned!

♦ Who knew you couldn't use Spotify in the Safari web browser??? WTH??? *fumes* I looked into why, but then my eyes glazed over because apparently there isn't any solution. Grrr! Well, that's annoying! Especially since I'm trying to use my Safari browser more now, because for some reason when I watch online videos too long in any other browser, my CPU heats up. WTH is with that??? *sigh*

♦ I uploaded the above animation to one of my old Photobucket accounts. Yes, still trying to decide what to do about them - which account to sign up for with payments again, now that they've got more reasonable plans. I wouldn't have even uploaded it to PB, but I can't get into my account at PhotoLand.io!!!! That's where I've been uploading and posting my gifs from. All of a sudden there's no way to sign in with Twitter, which is what I used. Gah!!!! I've contacted them about it, but who knows if I'll ever get a response. Well, speak of the devil....just got this email from them:

Hello,

We are having issues with the twitter API and are working on fixing it. Will update you once it's working again.

Thank you
Photoland Team

Well, I'll give them points for getting back to me so quickly. Sad that I can't get into my account there though. Serves me right for going the shortcut way into signing into a site. *sigh* So I guess I'll be using my PB accounts again for now...

Ok. Wow! The PhotoLand Support Team literally just got back to me, saying the problem is fixed. Sure enough, I was able to log in w/Twitter and upload the gifs. Yay! Very impressive support at PhotoLand!

♦ For my artsy & craftsy friends, I got quite the deal this past week at Hobby Lobby. A Marvy waterbrush marked down to $1.24, a set of Faber Castell 24 Watercolor Pencils marked down to $3.74 (from $14.99), and a set of 25 Stabilo colored pens marked down to $7.49 (from $29.99!). I've always been curious about the Stabilo pens because I've heard such good things about them (they are good!) but the price always turned me off. No more! These aren't the first great deals I've found at HL. A month or so ago I finally got a Gouache set of paints that was marked way down. I do love saving money on supplies!

♦ I found a great site for free book PDFs! Check out Ocean Of PDF! I've already got a few of them loaded on my phone for reading there. Such a great selection.

♦ Since SPN is finished for the summer, it's time to start in on updating the Locations List (LL) with Season 13 for [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations. Problem is...looking up addresses on Google Maps really eats up my internet data. *heavy sigh* I could really use some help from volunteers, but I've failed to use people in the past so I'm pretty sure it's a waste of time. People don't want to risk it. Of course, this time I KNOW what I would have volunteers help me with! :(

Late add-in Edit!!!! OMG Does anyone else play Candy Crush on their phone??? I've been stuck on a level before, but nothing like with Level 149! OMG!!!! I CANNOT GET THROUGH IT!!!!! I've lost track of how many times I've played that level. And I've had tons of help from the game, but alas....still stuck. Gah!

raloria: (Default)

  • Realized that I yet again missed posting the SPN Name That Cap Challenge on Friday. Gah! Sorry everyone. It's for sure a sign that this challenge needs to end when I keep forgetting about it week after week.

  • Went looking online for some of the old SPN Mood Themes and did find that a few are still around. Sad that none of them seem to go past Season 4 or 5. It's like everyone who used to make Mood Themes for the show just up and quit everything after Season 5. Does anyone make Mood Themes anymore???

However, when I'll take the time to upload and install the Mood Themes is another matter entirely. Such a Major Pain to put in custom Mood Themes into LJ! I found 15 Mood Themes...not sure I'll actually use them all. Some are actually new to me.

  • Just realized that not only does SPN return this Thursday! but it'll be Jensen's 40th birthday as well and of course that's worthy of a Major Special Post. But what? That's the question. So not ready for both of these events this week. How did they sneak up so fast???

  • Since I can't really work on adding new locations over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations without using a ton of my precious internet data, I'm trying to get things going over on [livejournal.com profile] spnconcatalog instead. Specifically, I'm trying to find a way to transcribe con panel videos on youtube. I've found a site that works, but...only on the first 15 minutes of a video. *sigh* So that's basically half of a J2 Gold Panel. It would be helpful, even if it wouldn't be complete (or entirely accurate) but I figure when you're dealing with transcription any bit of help is useful. There's also a 2nd technique that I haven't tried yet, but probably will. Stay tuned.

  • I've saved a bunch of images from Instagram and I'm now making some icons from the SPN/J2 ones. Yes! Icons! Remember when we made icons in this fandom? I know, it's been a long time for me as well. Hopefully I haven't lost my touch!

  • Based on the poll I did on Friday, looks like most of you are all for me doing a Friending Meme. So okay then! I'll aim for posting one on Monday.

Been meaning to post this little video, since I edited it way back in October. :P
It's now one of those little things I want to get posted before the end of the year, so here we go!

Back in August, after VanCon was finished, we ventured out for the usual Location Hunting. I had a few spots I wanted to check out and Ladner Harbour Park in Delta was one of them. I realize that this park has been used by SPN numerous times over the years, but I had just updated [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations with the list of locations for Season 12, and this park was used quite heavily for 12x15 "Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell".

In the video I walk you through this one spot where the Impala drives up and the boys get out to investigate the crime scene. It's then used 2 more times in the episode.
Luckily, when we first got there, I was all alone and was able to film this footage very easily. I did check out a section past the playground where Heaven's doorway/portal is filmed, because I thought it might be the camp scene from the opening of 12x15 where Gwen and her boyfriend are attacked by the hellhound. However, I couldn't find a spot that looked quite right (didn't help that when they filmed it was winter and I was there in the late summer). So sadly, that spot remains a mystery for now.

Hope you enjoy watching! :D

I've been trying to get more screenshots of J2 from old convention panel videos on youtube over the past few hours. It is not easy.

We're blessed with so many hi-resolution con videos now, but back then...in 2009, 2008, and earlier? There was no such thing. And of course, we're talking about 8 year old videos, many of which aren't even online anymore. The few that still exist are rarely over 480p in resolution, some not even that high. Plus, with my current, slow internet I have to wait a bit for the videos to even load. Fun, fun, fun.

It also gets challenging when the boys appeared more than one day for a con, so of course, I'm trying to get video caps from both days...if I can. Doesn't help when people didn't label their videos in any way as to which day they were even filmed on. *sigh* Then there's camera shake and heads in the way...it's a total mine field out there.

Just the random late-night musings of a busy (and sometimes frustrated) fangirl.

I haven't tried downloading any of my images off Photobucket since July, when I was trying to get my Location Caps off the site to re-upload to Slickpic and restore the images on my LJ comm posts.

Well, now I can't even download albums off of PB!
Either I get no response after Proving I'm Not A Robot and clicking Download or I get an error message at the top of the page saying something went wrong and to try again.
I try again and...rinse, repeat with the no response and error message.
I tried a different browser, and turning off my ad blocker. No change.

Finally, I went looking online for an answer. Looks like others have run into the same issue (those who can get logged into their accounts, that is).

I found this blip on a forum page from just a couple of weeks ago:

So PB knows it doesn't work and just doesn't care. Typical.
I can download my images one by one...but we're talking around 100 images - in one album alone!
No thanks!!!! *fumes*

So I guess I'll be making all-new map images for locations over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations. Oh, goody!

I also found this article about the Better Business Bureau issuing an "F" grade to the company after 15 complaints were issued. Really??? Only 15???? And surprise..."Despite repeated contacts from BBB, the business has not responded to any of these complaints."

Seriously, I truly hope Photobucket dies a fiery death!

In the on-going Photobucket saga...

Spent most of Friday late afternoon and evening, into Saturday morning figuring out which images were missing from not only my LJ but [livejournal.com profile] spn_ontheset & [livejournal.com profile] positively_spn. At least I'm still able to download my images from PB - I've heard of others who have been completely blocked out of their own accounts! So I downloaded images, re-uploaded them to Slickpic, and changed the links on my journal. So all the sidebar images are on Slickpic and hopefully there to stay! Oh, I did leave out a few things from the sidebar that aren't needed anymore and changed the Gallery pics, etc. Even went so far as to change my journal's background, since it's been ages since I had anything different there.

Then it was onto the comms...with the same process. Even had to go and re-upload & code the tiny little SPN icons I use at [livejournal.com profile] positively_spn (and on my journal) next to people's usernames.

So now [livejournal.com profile] spn_ontheset went from this:

To looking back to normal again:

It only took hours and hours of work, using up precious internet data, and taking me away from other things I should be doing. Thanks so much Photobucket!

Sadly, that's all I can really do.
All the posts in the past that had caps, fanart, and photos stored on Photobucket? Essentially every post since I started on LJ? Totally worthless.
It would be an impossible task to re-upload all of those images and change the links in every single LJ post. It hurts my soul and my heart that all that work is basically gone and unviewable. It's something that I never imagined would happen and yet, here it is. :(

raloria: (Default)
More images on my journal are gone thanks to Photobucket. *sigh*
I figured this was going to happen. I have 4 Photobucket accounts - 2 that were my "main ones", the ones I used to pay for. They started with the 2nd one and now the first, older one has been hit with the "No 3rd Party Hosting" invasion. Grrrr.

Guess I know what I'll be doing later on today...re-uploading all those images over to SlickPic so I can re-link them. *sigh*

Btw, I've made a decision over this whole issue that is heavily effecting posts over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations. I'll be posting about it later.

Oh, why did I look at my lj comms??? sSa_wah
The header and backgrounds are totally gone at [livejournal.com profile] positively_spn and [livejournal.com profile] spn_onthheeset! * Gah!!!! They look HIDEOUS!!! Thanks, Photobucket. Thanks for ruining my life. Thanks for giving me more work than I need right now.

* Thankfully, the actual images used in all the posts for [livejournal.com profile] spn_ontheset are in LJ's Scrapbook and unaffected.

You know what this means....all my old Just 'Cause posts are now gone. The ones made from when I began them 9 years ago until I switched them over to SlickPic a couple of years ago. Lovely. I'm so sorry for anyone who goes back and views those old posts, not that I expect many will, but still. OMG This is so upsetting! Hundreds of posts just GONE like that! Seriously, I'm tearing up just thinking of all those Just 'Cause posts that are totally worthless now - on top of Seasons 1-7 over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations! Friggin' Photobucket and their $400!!!!

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] raloria at Still looking for volunteers

It's been nearly a month since I posted about needing volunteers to update this comm, [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations, and I still haven't found any. Giving this one more try, since I've only got a little over 2 and half months to get this site updated and ready for VanCon in August.

I basically just need someone(s) to help me gather locations by area. Some of the lists (like the one for Vancouver and North Vancouver) are basically done. Other area lists need a bit more work. And then there's the lists for locations the production frequently uses, such as Riverview, The Back 40 Dog Park, and the Watchmen backlot set. Again, most of these lists have already been started, so you wouldn't be starting from scratch.

I really want to get these Area Lists done this year so that I and my fellow Location Hunters can use them when visiting the city of Vancouver in August. We don't need lists of locations by Season - the Area ones are the ones that are more useful.

So a lot of the work will be looking for all the locations from the Season Pages here at the comm from a certain city and copy & pasting them into a new list/post. Simple stuff really, but it does take time, which is why I need volunteers to help out.

I hope my SPN Family can help me.

If you can't volunteer I would so appreciate it if you could at least share this on your journal to help get the word out. Thanks! ♥

Been busy trying to work on things over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations aka The Locations List, but it's tough because it's eating away at what little internet data I have left. *sigh* It's frustrating.

So, since that is kind of hit a roadblock at the moment, I've also been trying to figure things out for the [livejournal.com profile] spnconcatalog. Things were brought up when I initially started the community, like whether we'd be doing transcripts of the con panels. This was not initially my intention, but I can understand the need for that. It also increases the challenge quite a bit because I know I have a hard time hearing and understanding what's being said in the videos.

Then last week, I was using SuperWiki's list of SPN Cons to look for panel videos. It became pretty apparent that the material from the oldest cons is limited at best. It's also disappearing.

Youtube videos are no longer available, links are no longer viable. So any documentation on the older con panels is fast disappearing. It's also very difficult to find full panel videos from the early cons. Example: I've found a Jensen Panel video from LA Con 2009, but there's none (that I've been able to find) for Jared and then Jared and Jensen's panel.

I've been trying to do a transcript of the J2 Breakfast Panel from ChiCon 2007. Again, there's like only one full video out there, the audio is kind of muffled, and it's difficult to make everything out. But of course, this was from the first SPN Con in the US, so it's pretty important and there's some great moments in there (like Jared wiping his sweaty face on Jensen's shirt).

In thinking all of this over, I've come to a conclusion - We've got to save/document these older con panels before they're totally gone. We need to at least try to transcribe them in order to preserve what happened. At the same time, there's such a backlog of cons to cover, some 10 years of cons from all over the world. Some have more panel videos than others and some were more attended than others. For some cons it's going to be very difficult to find panel videos, especially full ones. Though I'm willing to include panel videos that are broken up into 2 or 3 parts. Not much beyond that though because then it gets too chopped up.

My plan for [livejournal.com profile] spnconcatalog is to have entries for individual con panel videos that include an embedded video of the panel and then a transcript of the video/panel. If a transcript can't be done, then there will at least be a list of the highlights of the panel, possibly with some time codes from the video. Since doing transcripts can be really time-consuming, I'm thinking of just doing the highlights first. At least that way we'll have something that documents the panel. The other important element of the comm is going to be the tags. I want them to be simple, yet detailed enough that people will be able to find what they're looking for.

I'm preparing to contact my initial volunteers for [livejournal.com profile] spnconcatalog to see if they're still available and interested in helping, but I'm certainly happy to have more. If you enjoy watching SPN con panel videos and have some time, please volunteer over at the community. We're fighting time to preserve these con memories!

It's time for me to really dig in and get back to work on updating this site [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations (aka The Location List) for the upcoming convention in Vancouver.

Due to real life and technical issues, I've been unable to (yet again) update all the lists as I would like. The early seasons are especially in need of some updating. But with only 3 months until August, I'm fast running out of time for something that time-consuming.

I have to concentrate now on updating the site/list with the Locations for Season 12.
But I'd also like to do some other tasks with the list (if possible).

I just need a little help.
I'm looking for at least 2 volunteers.

What would you be doing?
* Making a list of Locations that are no longer in existence.
* Gathering locations by city/area.
* Helping me with Lists of Locations from Riverview and The Back 40 Dog Park.

Knowledge of basic HTML would be nice, but it's not a requirement.
I'll be happy to transfer the text in the lists to any format you're comfortable working in: text, Word Doc, Google Drive doc, etc.

If you're interested in helping out, just let me know in the comments. Thanks! :)

Dammit LJ!

Ran into a complication while working on the Season 11 Locations List over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations last night.

LJ's dreaded post-length limitations. sSig_aaarggh

So I had to split the list into 3 posts instead of my original 2. Yeah, that's the easy part...sorta. At one point I had myself totally confused over which episodes I had copied and pasted into which post. Gah!

Now, of course, my banners for the posts are incorrect. Goody.
Have to make new ones. *sigh*

On the plus side, I'm almost done filling in the locations. Only 5 episodes left to do.
Which is good because the next step is to add all the Season 11 locations into Google Maps.
And I have a separate rant for Google Maps, because they've ruined so much of the site that it's almost un-usable for my list. Grrrr!
Hey, only a week until my deadline of August 19th. It's doable, right? sSc_scarednervous

Halp!

Does anyone know their way around the Custom CSS coding for LJ?
I've got a custom layout for [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations and ever since last year the header I put up hasn't fit properly. There's a gap of white space on the right side and it's annoying me like crazy!

Here's what it looks like:

I have only a bare minimum of knowledge with CSS coding and that's purely from working with past custom layouts on LJ. My numerous attempts to put in different margins and numbers haven't changed anything, so I'm at a total loss over how to fix this problem.

Can anyone out there offer any suggestions or help?

There's 2 special dates for my Livejournal world this week:

*** On June 4th in 2007 I did my first SPN Name That Cap Challenge, which ran for 19 weeks. Which means this is the 9th Anniversary of that little cap challenge to help us get through long hiatuses...and other times.

*** And today, June 7th I started my [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations community in 2012 after realizing that all that locations information was simply becoming too large of a list for my journal. Four years now and the Locations List (as I like to call it) is bigger than ever, still in desperate need of a big overhaul, and waiting for me to update it with the Season 11 locations in time for late August (working on it!!!).

Amazing how all it takes is one Tweet to spark me into action. lol
Actually, I've been meaning to get started on the Season 11 Locations List over at [livejournal.com profile] spn_locations, but RL stuff, online stuff...it got in the way. Originally, I was going to start in October...that didn't happen. Then the holidays were on and I said, "In January." Well, that didn't happen either, so I was all set to begin in February.

Then I see this Tweet on my timeline yesterday...

Yep, I'm one of those "regular sites". There's only 2 of us and the other one hasn't been updated since Season 9. So...time to get busy!

I worked overnight gathering info. from Twitter for the first 5 episodes. Not a lot there, but once I start capping the locations in the episodes, it should start to fill out more.

raloria: (Default)
Yes! I've done it again. Inspiration hit me the other day and I came up with a new idea for an LJ comm...Hurt Winchesters!

Of course, there's comms for hurt/comfort fanfic, but this comm is different. I'll be posting caps (and maybe some episode stills & animations) of our boys hurt, bloody, tied up, and in tears. 'Cause I know there are those of you out there who love to see our boys hurting. They're warriors who bleed so pretty! ;)

Naturally, I know this type of comm won't be of interest to everyone and it's certainly not the place if you'd rather see the Winchester brothers happy.

I already have a Welcome post and a First Entry for the Pilot.
