Video: SPN 12x15 Location Visit

It's now one of those little things I want to get posted before the end of the year, so here we go!
Back in August, after VanCon was finished, we ventured out for the usual Location Hunting. I had a few spots I wanted to check out and Ladner Harbour Park in Delta was one of them. I realize that this park has been used by SPN numerous times over the years, but I had just updated![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
spn_locations with the list of locations for Season 12, and this park was used quite heavily for 12x15 "Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell".
In the video I walk you through this one spot where the Impala drives up and the boys get out to investigate the crime scene. It's then used 2 more times in the episode.
Luckily, when we first got there, I was all alone and was able to film this footage very easily. I did check out a section past the playground where Heaven's doorway/portal is filmed, because I thought it might be the camp scene from the opening of 12x15 where Gwen and her boyfriend are attacked by the hellhound. However, I couldn't find a spot that looked quite right (didn't help that when they filmed it was winter and I was there in the late summer). So sadly, that spot remains a mystery for now.

Jensen had already briefly stopped by to say he was done for the day (which I sadly missed getting on video 'cause Clif really drove that SUV sneakily!). But we did get to whoop when Baby was driven past us on her way home.

Another false start before they do a take of the scene. This is the video where Jensen reacts to hearing another muscle car go by as soon as "Cut!" is said. So glad I got it on video!

They rehearse/block the scene with Dean driving up in the Impala and hugging Missouri and Jody. Note that Jensen isn't wearing Dean's jacket here. He gets instruction from Director, Robert Singer, and then we see Jensen hug Set Designer, Jerry Wanek.
Two very short videos again. There was a ton of traffic on the street between the fans and the production, making videotaping and photographing the action a challenge.

This is right after Jensen drove the Impala back around to the gas station set. Sadly, I didn't catch Kim yelling "Best day ever!" but I did get Jensen saying, "She smells so much nicer than Jared." LOL

The crew prepare for filming the shot of the Impala driving away from the gas station. Jensen Ackles and Kim Rhodes are in the Impala as Jensen pulled forward so the crew could pull up the actor's tape marks. Then he pulled back into position and 1st AD Kevin Parks talks to the actors.

They did one rehearsal/blocking shot before this where Jensen didn't actually pull out into traffic. This is the only filmed take they did and the one you see in the episode.

Jensen Ackles and Kim Rhodes do a quick rehearsal/blocking before filming a take of the scene outside of the gas station. Looks like Jensen was a little warm in all those layers!

Another take outside of the gas station and you can hear the giggling of the fans as Jensen's fingers tapped on the top of the Impala at the end of the shot.

VanCon 2017: Misc Files - Deas Island
Oct. 24th, 2017 06:27 amAfter the con in August, there's always a few days of Location Hunting and on our last day I was determined to make a trek to Deas Island to see Burrvilla House. It's been used 3 times by Supernatural.
Beyond the beautiful house, built in 1906, there's also a small wooden tower just across the way. I climbed to the top to get the nice view of the Fraser River, Richmond, and then Burnaby & New Westminster in the distance.
Btw, the Burrvilla House's attic is home to thousands of bats!!! :P

I worked overnight gathering info. from Twitter for the first 5 episodes. Not a lot there, but once I start capping the locations in the episodes, it should start to fill out more.

Btw, this location is from Season 1's "Route 666".
Mind you, I thought I knew where this spot was...everything said it was on the Riverview grounds in Coquitlam. But where? Because it doesn't look anything like Riverview to me. So I looked at it on Google Maps, did the whole street view thing on certain roads. Nothing looked right. Then I checked it out on Bing Maps as well, same thing.
I've looked at the stills from the episode and the behind the scenes pics...this is clearly a curvy, narrow road with trees all along it. From the stills there's a field sloping down on one side and a clear hill rising up on the other. Nothing on the Riverview grounds matches this!
So I even expanded my view outside of Riverview. I checked out Burnaby park, QE Park, Stanley Park, an area north of Langley, and some parks and areas I can't recall the names of...nothing seems to match. *sigh*
So here are the caps I have and I guess I'm posting this just to show I'm no miracle-worker of finding locations. A lot of them elude me despite all my detective work.
