Mom and I have been powering our way through the seasons of SPN, many of which she's never seen. We're in Season 9 right now and tonight we watched..."Bloodlines". Ugh. Yep, the failed back-door pilot.

My opinion of the episode hasn't changed and I barely watched it this time except the few times the boys were on the screen. They had so little to do, it was like they weren't even there. But it made me also think of our new back-door pilot, "Wayward Sisters". That one was so much better, even though the boys had limited screen time in it as well.

But what I realized in both is that the boys acting was kinda lackluster in both.
Now I love and appreciate the acting talents of Jensen & Jared and how they've only gotten better over the years. But I've come to the conclusion that they have trouble in episodes with so few scenes to act in. Maybe it's because they have so little to work with or time with the other actors? I don't know what it is, just that it is noticeable - to me anyway.

One thing I noticed in "Wayward Sisters" when I was capping it?
Jared kept making this disgusted face. Now it made sense when Sam was watching Dean eat the lizard, but he makes that face 2 more times before the end of the episode! And I've never seen Jared make that face...before or since! It just felt like a weird thing to do. But again, working with my theory...few pages of script for them, limited screen time. Maybe it's just hard to really get into the scenes?

Now I'm not saying their acting is bad in these episodes, just that it's not their usual passionate acting. I re-read my "Bloodlines" review and even then I felt the scenes with Jensen & Jared felt off. I kind of felt the same way with "Wayward Sisters". Though what helped with WS is that they at least had some scenes with characters and actors they know and were already established. That wasn't the case with "Bloodlines".

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.
Again...love the guys and their acting. There's just something missing when they have so little screen time on the show IMO.

Btw, I was just thinking...can we hope that somehow the BMOL wiped out those 5 monster families in Chicago that "Bloodlines" was all about? That would be the only good thing they did. Heh.

What the hell are they up to now?

Saw this first on FB and then Twitter. Creation Entertainment has added this little item just above the seating prices for all the upcoming SPN cons this year.

So it's "expensive" but they've been asked to offer it? Hmmmm...
Considering they upped the prices of the SPN cons to where Gold is now often over $900 and Front Row is over $1400 you've gotta wonder how expensive this new offering is. $2,000? $3,000? More???

You get to go in lines right after the 10 VIPs. Eh, unless that gets you more time with the guests (bet it doesn't), I don't see the benefit of going that early. I'm row C at VanCon and that's soon enough for me.

Your concierge will help you keep track so you don't miss a thing. Their schedules really aren't that complicated. The key: colored highlighters. I mark the panels, my photo-ops, and the autographs. Each getting their own color. Helps me find what I need fairly fast. Have I mixed things up from time to time? Yeah, sure, but I don't think I've ever missed anything due to the schedule being hard to figure out. The only things I recall missing was due to Creation overlapping photo-ops with a panel. Will a concierge clone me so I can do a panel and a photo-op at the same time, so I don't miss either? Yeah, I don't think so.

The concierge will know all the rules. Well, I've never had any trouble with Creation's rules and I don't see myself breaking any in the future either. It's relatively simple and some of it is common sense and courtesy.

I don't know if this is another attempt of Creation to make more money (probably) or yet another separation of the haves (the rich) and the have-nots (the poor). I'll admit I sometimes feel guilty for being Gold. It's not that I feel above anyone else in the other sections, it's just that I wish everyone could afford to go Gold. I'm honestly not sure how much longer I'll be able to afford it. For once, VanCon is actually one of the cheaper cons this year, but that'll probably change for 2018. They actually dropped the price for us at last year's VanCon for re-upping, which was really shocking. We won't get that break again. :(

According to the FB post about this concierge thing, it might have come about because of a guy at the recent VegasCon who had 3 Gold seats to himself and a Creation helper w/a cart to move all the things he was having signed, which apparently was quite a lot - to the price of $20,000 for his weekend experience. o.O

Gee, it must be nice to be so rich. Well, at least he didn't lose it all in the slots.
I certainly can't see many people going for this concierge option though. I would like to know how much it costs, just for curiosity sake.

Now that I've seen the awards and processing SPN's winnings the importance of the evening has really set in.

This was a big night for SPN, no doubt about it. Jensen & Jared were there in person and they picked up two wins, not to mention getting interviewed and photographed on the red carpet. More exposure for them and the show, though in the grand scheme of Hollywood SPN is still small potatoes.

I know some people are lamenting that neither of the boys won the Fav Dramatic Actor award. But it's just one award and considering both of the guys were nominated I think the numbers were simply against either of them coming up with a win.

But to put SPN's wins a bit more into perspective, I made this post on Tumblr:

How great were SPN’s wins at the PCAs last night?

Pretty darned amazing when you compare to how the competition did. I only looked at these 2 shows because they were nominated in many of the same categories SPN was and they also have large fanbases.

The Vampire Diaries - 4 Nominations, 0 Wins

Once Upon A Time - 4 Nominations, 0 Wins

Supernatural - 3 Nominations, 2 Wins

Not bad at all for the “little show that could” that’s in it’s 8th season. :)

I was honestly a little shocked that the other 2 shows didn't get anything. As the older show, one would think SPN would be more likely to be forgotten and pushed into the background, but you can't underestimate this fandom!

The other thing I noticed during the show was how some winners kept referring to it being the "people's choice awards" and "it's about the people". It started to feel so impersonal. I mean, we're all people, but only some of us are "fans". I thought it was very nice that when Jensen & Jared were accepting the win for SciFi/Fantasy Show that Jared used the word "fans". Further shows how appreciative the guys are towards the people that make up the fanbase and how we truly are a family. I have no personal knowledge on the fans of other shows, but I get an impression that the bond the fans of SPN have with not only the stars of the show but the crew as well is a special one. They know us and we know them. Look how accessible the SPN cast & crew are with all the conventions year after year. I don't see that happening with The Vampire Diaries or Once Upon A Time. Makes me feel even more fortunate to be a part of this wonderful show that's touched so many of our lives. We truly have something to be proud of and thankful for.

Kind of a pessimistic take on life, but there's some wisdom to it.

Resurrecting an old tag (it's been over a year) to post this. I should get back to posting these sorts of things. :P
