Well, the news just keeps getting better and better tonight! *sigh*

I wondered if LJ was going to be in danger and now it really might be. I've been here so long, have so MANY entries...there's no way it can all be backed up in any way. This is terrible!

I've had a Dreamwidth account for many years, but haven't used it since 2013. Guess that'll change now.

I'm raloria on Dreamwidth, too.

Here's where else you can find me:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/spndeangirl
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ralval73/
Tumblr **: http://roadtoshambala.tumblr.com/

** Again, haven't used Tumblr in years...which might change if LJ does disappear.

And here I am in the middle of the Final SPN Name That Cap Challenge! Guess I'd better back that up over on the Dreamwidth account, just in case. Then there's my LJ communities... Crap! How do I save it all??? And in 3 days???

Edit: Just set up the import to my Dreamwidth. I figured the sooner it started the better, since it might take a few days.

I identify so much with both of these Peanuts comics! Thought some of you would get a giggle from these as well. :)

Look who got to raise the 12th Man flag before the Seattle Seahawks vs SF 49ers game yesterday - Papa Winchester himself!!!! Been loving JDM's Tweets about the Seahawks games lately. He's such a big fan! Hopefully we're headed to the playoffs again! GoHawks!

Yesterday I found one of my VanCon 2010 photos of Jensen posted on Instagram with my watermark cropped off. Now keep in mind that the photo itself is square anyway, so there was no need to crop off my watermark to post it to Instagram. Anyway, I left a comment on the post about it being mine and the watermark being gone.

I then posted the issue to Twitter.

Today, I'm looking at Instagram, see that account and take another look and that post is totally gone! They never responded to my comment, just deleted the photo....which in my mind makes me out to be the bad guy. "How dare you complain about your watermark being cropped out! I won't post your photos anymore!" Really?!?

This is getting frustrating. I don't make my watermarks intrusive on my photos for a reason - I feel they'd detract from the beauty of the subject matter. But I'm seriously reconsidering taking more drastic action. I'm sick of this! Why is it so hard for people to give credit for things in this fandom anymore? Even if they didn't know who to credit...just say that in the post! Indicate that you at least are interested in finding out who to credit for the work! This is what I've done in the past. Because I want to give credit where it's due, even if I can't at the time I post something.

Maybe I'll have to start placing my watermark up by people's faces in con photos from now on. It sucks, but I've seen plenty of other photographers in the fandom doing it and now I know why. *sigh*

Follow-up to yesterday's post...

Thank you all for your comments yesterday. A lot of you mentioned watermarking my caps and I have considered it, but here's why I don't want to take that step.

- It's more work and making and sharing these caps is time-consuming enough as it is.
- I'd have to put the watermark in the middle of the caps somewhere since this person is re-posting them on Instagram, which crops everything square.
- Watermarking the caps really limits what they can be used for and would be an annoyance for anyone who wanted to use the for fanart or icons.

Mostly it just feels like a drastic step for all the above reasons just due to one bad apple in the fandom who doesn't believe in crediting anyone. Though in all fairness, they re-posted one of my on-set photos (that are watermarked) from 13x03 and they not only kept the watermark, but credited me in the post. So it was basically double-crediting me. But somehow they can't credit my SPN caps. *shrugs* Very weird.

Anyway, you win some battles and lose others. Thankfully, most of the fandom are pretty good about giving credit. It's just a matter of dealing with or accepting the few bad eggs out there that don't.

Back in January I posted about someone reposting my SPN caps on Instagram without giving me any credit.

Well, I finally left them a comment....on two different posts of my caps. What did I get?

Silence.

I'm sure they'll keep taking my caps and reposting without any credit. Don't really know what else I can do at this point. Caps are fair game, right? 'Cause it didn't take hours to get caps from an episode, sort the good ones out, fix them, and upload them online. Nope. No work involved at all. *sigh*

I love sharing my caps with the fandom. I do. I want people to take and enjoy them. Why is it so hard to expect a quick note of credit???

It's a losing battle. And they won.

Noticed this morning that one of the SPN caps I posted on Twitter was posted on Instagram without any credit to me. My first, gut reaction was anger. "How dare they!" But then I thought, "Well, it's just a cap, right? Not like it's fanart or anything." Then I felt more flattered than angry.

But should I be more upset about this sort of thing? In the past I certainly have been. Maybe time has mellowed me a bit? Maybe I shouldn't get upset over my caps being reposted without credit. I mean I do share them with everyone so they can use and enjoy them.

I'm still sorting out my feelings on this. What's your opinion?

Last month I had grand plans to join in on this month's Inktober. Failed at it last year and I wanted to give it another go. Well, life had other ideas, as my first week of October was a very rough one. So much for plans.

Lately, I really haven't had the time or energy to do anything artistic. It's been making me feel a little antsy and tonight I decided enough was enough and I was going to do something no matter what or how simple.

So I grabbed some Mermaid Markers by Jane Davenport and drew simple squiggles and loops in one of my art journals. I really like the results. It's not overly complicated, it doesn't have any meaning, it's just colorful lines on paper and it only took me a few minutes to do. So maybe I haven't been able to participate in Inktober. Doing these pages made me feel better - just like that. :)

Having trouble with Slickpic so I'm using an alternate image host for this post. Hope it works for everyone.
I found this cool site [picbear.com] where you can view your Liked Instagram photos and save them really easily. I ended up saving a bunch of Jensen pics and decided to put them all together into a collage.

First there was this Tweet from yesterday...

And now this. WHOAH!
I actually really like the new hairstyle. It's very smooth and suave! I even like the extreme shaving on the sides. YUM, YUM! :D

*** As usual, I got there a little early and they didn't start in on the Gold Ticket people until after 9:30 - a whole half hour after they were supposed to begin. Seriously, Creation....you know when you're starting these things. Why can't you get set up in time?

*** Sadly didn't see any familiar faces, at least none that I really know. So different from VanCon where I'm buddies with so many people. It's a very different feeling than I've gotten used to.

*** I did, however, get to chatting with a few people behind me in line. A nice couple and a woman who's here at the con with her daughter. All of them were new to the whole con experience, so I got to share my knowledge and experience and answer their questions. :) Sadly, we didn't exchange names! Darn! But we compared seat numbers and we're all fairly close, so I hope to run into them all again.

*** There's no Vendor's Room this time. It's all set up out in the lobby area outside of the Grand Ballroom. Different for sure, but there was a ton of merchandise there. I remember when it was basically just t-shirts and glossy 8x10s. I got a mini-Crowley and a bracelet. :)

Took this pic of the boys...heh.

Tomorrow we have Lauren, Gil, and Felicia.
Oy! My feet are killing me already.

This afternoon while driving home I got to wondering about an old LJ friend. Well, I wouldn't say we were close friends, in fact she didn't even want me to friend her on LJ and I respected her choice. But I enjoyed her LJ comm and interacted with her through there (which I haven't seen her on lately).

So instead we followed each other on Twitter and Instagram. I was really enjoying her photos on Instagram and I even left her some comments.

I get online tonight and check her out on Twitter & Instagram and find that I'm no longer following her. Weird.
So I tried to follow her on both and they failed. The message from Twitter: "You have been blocked from following this account at the request of the user."

What. The. Hell???

I don't even know what happened or what I did for her to block me. She's still posting things, but I can't see her pics on Instagram anymore.

I've met this woman twice, at 2 VanCons. She was nice, warm, funny, friendly, but her actions in her online life completely befuddle and confuse me. I just...I don't know what to make of this and of course there's nothing I can do. It's sad.

Had to have this on my journal because it's SPN, Jensen, spoilers, Jensen, OMG-Tuesday-Is-Almost-Here...did I mention Jensen? Heehee! :D

Mildly spoilery.

In an effort to do more art work as well as keeping myself awake after supper, I'm trying to work on my art journals/ICADs/Smashbooks/etc. for a couple of hours each evening starting at around 10 p.m.

JayG

Jay Gruska, the music composer for SPN started following me on Twitter. :D

I've never had anyone from the show follow me before. How cool!
Sure, he doesn't tweet much, but that can change. No idea why he's following me, but....Eeeeee!!!!!

OMG Just realized the first tweet of his is the quote I used for one of my ICADs!!!!

That is all. *bounces*

Sad to see 2 more of my Flisters leaving LJ today. I'm afraid this place will be a ghost town soon, with only me and a handful of others keeping the SPN community going. :(

Thought I'd list where I am online for those who want to follow me now that a new season of SPN is nearly upon us.
