This has been the latest big news and I can't help but have mixed feelings. While I'm happy for Jared to be getting a leading role, I'm a little disappointed in the subject matter.

You can go here to read more.

I'll admit...I liked Kincade's work...at first. But seriously, folks...it all looks the same! One cottage looks like the next house and even the rare lighthouse and small town street are all the same style. Why bother to continue painting if you never stretch and try new things? The man is stuck in a rut if you ask me. I'd have much more respect for his talent if he would just branch out and paint different things. There's so much more to life than houses with gigantic amounts of light spilling out from their windows. The problem is, millions of people are buying this stuff. And it's everywhere and on almost everything! So now they're going to make not one film, but three???? That makes no sense whatsoever to me. One film I can understand, but 3?!?! Clearly, this is all about more marketing for Kincade (like he needs more?). Who does he think he is? He's certainly no Picasso, Rembrandt, or Monet. They at least tried different things, and painted a wide variety of subjects. And nobody made 3 movies about each of their lives. A made for TV movie would be more appropriate in my opinion. Meanwhile, logistically, I'm wondering how they're going to film 3 movies in the short 4 or 5 months Jared has off from SPN? And aren't Jared & Jensen supposed to go over to Europe again in May to help promote the show? That'll cut into film time.

Anyway, I'm happy for Jared (no, really, I am). He said he was going to be looking for film projects during their break. Jared's acting has greatly improved this season and he should be looking for more opportunities to grow as an actor. And films are where most actors want to be. I just wish it was for something else. If it works for him, I'll be more than happy. But it's not going to change my opinion of Kincade's work. The guy's taken over the art world like his stuff's the best thing since sliced bread and it just...isn't. Sorry Kincade fans. It's just my opinion, afterall.

And on a side note...what about Jensen? This guy really needs to break out into movies. And no more of this small independent, artsy stuff (although I'm not against them, either) or straight to video stuff. I'm talkin' big films with big name stars. If only I was a scriptwriter in L.A. and my script was finished. *Sigh* The lead part I've written is perfect for him. Sadly, the script is far from finished, but it is coming along. I have big dreams for it. In fact, my college instructor said it would make a great TV series or mini-series! He was impressed by it, so that really helped raise my spirits. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to pitch it down in Hollywood...and Jensen will get the part. *dreamy sigh*

Thought I'd post a little status report to let everyone know what's coming up this week...

* No SPN ep this week! >:( I'm thinking of watching BUABS that night just so I can have my weekly dose of SPN. That episode seems a good choice with the reruns of Croatoan and Hunted that we just had. Besides, watching Evil!Sammy is so much fun!

* I just capped the first part of Phantom Traveler for Tuesday's post, so be watching for that one. Still have to cap the Pilot for Thursday...

* The big news this week is for Wednesday...

Yes, after weeks of waiting, the first part of Berrisford Agenda is ready. All 275 caps! Remember, this week is just the first half of the caps - there's over 500 total. Man, am I gonna be busy on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning! Ugh!

* I'm also thinking of posting my caps of Jensen from the other bonus features on the DA S2 DVD set. We'll see if I can squeeze that in this week. If not, maybe it'll get posted next weekend.

So lots of goodies headed your way! And I'm also working on getting caught up with my replies to your comments. :)

Looks like Jared is going to be in 3 films as Thomas Kincade. This is from The Hollywood Reporter...

"Christmas Cottage" by Thomas Kinkade (1990)

Padalecki will paint the town for 'Cottage'
By Carolyn Giardina

April 9, 2007

Jared Padalecki has been cast as Thomas Kinkade alongside Peter O'Toole in Lionsgate's "The Christmas Cottage," based on the life of Kinkade and his painting of the same name. Michael Campus will direct the film, which goes into production this month in Vancouver and Whistler.

Padalecki will play Kinkade, one of America's most collected living artists who used his gift as an artist to portray his life-affirming values and explore the world around him. O'Toole will play a painter named Glen Wessler, based on one of Kinkade's mentors. A holiday release is planned.

The film is part of an intended three-picture deal between Lionsgate and Kinkade. The next two films, also planned with Padalecki as Kinkade, will be based on other paintings and reflect different points in Kinkade's life.

"Cottage" also will be produced by the Firm and Kinkade's Birch label. Producers are the Firm's Julie Yorn, Michael and Arla Dietz Campus as well as Thomas and Nanette Kinkade.

Padalecki stars as Sam Winchester on the CW's "Supernatural"; he also is known for his role as Dean Forester on the television series "Gilmore Girls." His film credits include "Cry Wolf," "House of Wax" and "Flight of the Phoenix."

He is repped by CAA and Dan Spilo at Artistry Management.

Like I said in my earlier post, I have mixed feelings about this project for Jared. I'm happy he's getting film work, but did it have to be this? Sounds like they'll just be shooting the one film this year, so my worries about it conflicting with their promotional tour in Europe won't be an issue. I just don't know if people are really going to care to see 3 films about Kinkade's life. Is anyone really going to care? I suppose his really devoted fans will go see them, but I don't think the average filmgoer will find anything to draw them in.

I guess what I'm hoping for is that Jared's talent will come shining through despite the subject matter.
