Aaaaaahhhhhh.....Summer!
Jun. 29th, 2008 12:45 amWestern WA is finally experiencing it's first lengthy heat wave, which I guess is another way of saying summer has at long last arrived. We got to a high temp of 90 degrees (F) on Saturday and today (Sunday) is supposed to be only slightly cooler. As far as the forecast goes the highs are in the 70s and 80s.
Of course, for a born and bred Washingtonian like myself, anything around or past 80 degrees is pushing my "it's too darned hot" meter. A sunny day, highs in the low to mid 70's with a nice breeze....now that's my idea of a perfect day. And lest you think I don't know what real heat is, I've been in the dry heat of Arizona with a temp at 115 degrees (F) and the humid heat of Florida and New Jersey in the 80s and 90s. Ugh.
But never mind the heat....let's get to the good stuff. The evenings. Last night and tonight, with the windows open, we're getting this heavenly smell in the house. It's that wonderful scent of the outdoors coming indoors. The sweet smell of flowers and grass that have been under the hot rays of the sun all day long. It's beautiful and I hadn't realized how much I missed it. It's truly the smell of summer! Ahhhhhhh! :D
