My internet keeps going out, so I've gotta make this short, but I feel it's important to give you an update about my aunt's operation yesterday.
The operation was long! Longer than we anticipated. It took 6 hours and near the end we were all getting worried. (Thanks
trystan830 for letting me text you! *hugs*) Turns out the surgeon did have some trouble getting the uterus out, but he was able to get it all.
Bad news: The uterus was cancerous. They won't know how bad it is until they examine the lymph nodes & decide on treatment after that. I do believe the doctor said the tumor was quite large though, so he took extra tissue out, which again, added to the long surgery time.
Good news: My aunt did fine during the operation, despite it being a long time on the table.
She's staying overnight and since she didn't get into the recovery room until late, we all left for home without seeing her. We figured she'd still be out of it from the anesthesia anyway. We'll go back today and see how she is. They are concerned about her kidneys, which have a low urine output. The doctor said it might just be from the diuretic she takes, but I'm thinking it's more than that considering they had to hydrate her for an hour before they did the CT Scan on Thursday.
Hopefully, she'll still be released sometime today. The doctor didn't think she'd have any trouble since the operation is not very invasive and most people recover quickly.
Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, & comments. It was so nice to read them all after a long day and night of sitting in a hospital waiting area. I'm really looking forward to getting a good night's sleep. The waiting was so hard and it's amazing how tiring just doing nothing can be. Thank you flist! *hugs*
