I love SPN fanfic. Just to let you know. :D
How much do I love it? Well, I save every story I like into notepad or wordpad documents so I can save them to my computer and print them out to read. *I know not environmentally friendly, but I recycle* I currently have over 300 of these stories on my computer. So I hang out at FanFiction.net...a lot! I even just joined recently because I'm even starting to write some of my own fanfic for SPN. I've only written a couple so far, but I hope to write more.
Anyway, I tend to go for gen fic which is very angsty. I love my action and my drama, but mostly I love one or both of the boys suffering in some way and the other one worrying and taking care of their fellow brother. So if any of you like the same things, this list is going to be great for you!
This is just a short list of fanfics I've either read or am currently reading. I've included their links to FanFiction.net and a brief summary. My own thoughts on each one is in italics.
Bar Fights and Bullets by DeppsLadyRosebud
Life changes forever for Dean and Sam struggles to deal with the consequences.
If you like lots of brotherly angst, guilt, HurtDean & ComfortingSam - you're in luck. PapaWinchester appears in this as well.
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother by EFW
Dean becomes violently ill and Sam steps up to take care of him along with the Roadhouse crew.
Don't be turned off by the Roadhouse crew being in this. Ellen makes the strongest appearance of the three, followed by Ash. The main focus here is on the brothers. If you like Dean in a lot of pain and suffering and Sam comforting and worrying about his big brother...you've just hit the jackpot.
The Edge Of Madness by Dawn Nyberg
Sam pays a high price after facing off with the Demon, and Dean refuses to lose the last of his family. He is determined to help Sam find his way back.
Lots of Dean angst as he tries to pull Sam back from the void he's entered after his battle with the Demon.
Between The Shadows by Dawn Nyberg
Follows Devil's Trap. The Winchester family is faced with something it never saw coming not even in their worst fears, especially Dean's.
I actually finished reading this a while back and it's still one of my favorite fanfics. I usually don't go for long stories, but this one was so well written I couldn't stop reading it. Lots of pain and suffering for both the boys, especially Sam and PapaWinchester is alive and well in this story. If you like the see the ultimate in family dynamic stories, you won't be disappointed in this one. Highly recommended!
Ramble On by Gaelicspirit
The brothers get injured hunting Wendigos.
Lots of hurtSam and hurtDean to go around, plus the brothers get a lot of time to talk to each other, too. Another long story, but again very much worth it for the good characterization of the brothers.
Ambush by Rachelly
Dean and Sam run into trouble when they encounter more hunters who see things only in black and white, eleven to be exact. Gordon was merely the first.
I'm just getting started reading this one, but so far I like it. Lots of hurtSam and hurtDean in this one.
