List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.

1. "Yeager's Triumph" by Bill Conti from the soundtrack for "The Right Stuff"

I just figured out this was the music used in a commercial about the AFI shown during the AFI's 10 Top 10 which aired on CBS on June 17th. I saw that commercial (which I love and find very inspiring, btw) and knew I'd heard that music before. I did Google searches, tried various sources, thought it was a piece of classical music at first and checked out my collection....then I figured it out! I was so excited to find the right piece of music at last! Woot! *fist pump* Turns out it was from one of our oldest CDs. It's a great piece of music, especially the last 2 minutes, which is the section they used in the commercial. ;)

2. "Long Train Running" by The Doobie Brothers

SPN has really opened my eyes (ears?) to the sounds of classic rock. This is one of my favorite songs, right up there with "Shambala" by Three Dog Night (see, how I snuck in an extra song? Heehee! :P). I can listen to both of these songs over and over again. :)

3. "Green Peppers" by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass

I grew up listening to Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass and I'm sure I'd heard this song numerous times before it showed up at the end of "Hollywood Babylon" from S2. It's one of those songs that's so peppy that it's next to impossible to be unhappy listening to it.

4. "Star Witness" by Neko Case

This is a carry-over from last summer when I discovered this song and Neko Case's music. I'm a big fan now, and this song is one of the reasons.

5. "Heavenly Day" by Patty Griffin

This seems the perfect song to play on a roadtrip during a beautiful summer afternoon, which in my book would be a heavenly day indeed. :)

6. "Soft Summer Breeze" by Eddie Heywood

There can be no breezier piano piece than this one. It's an oldie from the 1950's and it's lovely!

7. "Pocketfull Of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield

I just recently found this thanks to ABC using it for some of their ads for their shows. I fell instantly in love with it. Happy, sunshiny, and totally upbeat.

I'm cheating and sticking in one more. Trys, your bad habits are rubbing off on me. :P

8. "Kill Bill Teaser Trailer Music" by Tomoyasu Hotei

This is just awesome music. A driving beat and a great anthem for heading into action!

I'm not tagging anyone, btw. Go ahead and give the meme a try if you like. :D

I spotted this meme on [livejournal.com profile] purplephoenix03"s LJ and since it involves film, I just had to give it a try! :P

This is just awesome! Martin Scorsese is one of the directors/producers I admire most. He has a huge respect for the history of film and has been very instrumental in promoting the preservation of film.
