So sorry for the huge delay....again (another month! Sheesh!). I've been super busy, of course, with my new job and sadly, this series was one of the casualties. I hope to start doing these posts more frequently. :)

Think you know every SPN episode inside and out? So did I, but a new HDTV with a great picture and sound changed all that. I started to see things that I'd never noticed before. After a while I decided to make a list of all the things big and small that I came across, episode by episode.

I'd like to think of this as an in-depth look into Supernatural. It's a collection of interesting observations, continuity errors, goofs, filmmaking techniques, statistics, important (or not so important) information, trivia, and anything else that struck me as unusual.

Beware! This post is image heavy.

A few important notes...

Over the run of the S1 SPN Revealed posts, I was asked how I'm so good at spotting continuity errors and other little happenings in the episodes. The simple answer is that I'm a Script Supervisor (also known as Continuity in England). I've only worked on a few college student films and an independent film, but I know the job well. The Script Supervisor does a lot, but the basic job description is to keep track of continuity during filming, everything from hair & make-up, to props and lighting. On the set, you have to catch everything you can - quickly. The difference with doing this to SPN episodes is that I can take my time, back up the video countless times, and even look frame by frame.

I don't hunt down these instances to be critical of the SPN crew. I know even from my limited experience how hard they work every week and I have the utmost respect for them. But it's interesting what little mistakes get by even a professional crew. It's also interesting to continue to find new elements to these episodes that many of us have seen dozens of times.

Get Involved: I'm always open to continuity errors, etc. spotted by others. If you see something that I don't have in a post, drop me a comment in the post or a PM, and I'll look into it. If I can confirm it and include it in that episode's post, I'll give you credit for the find.

For this reason, these posts will occasionally be updated. I'll post about the changes when they occur.

All the caps in these posts are my own. While most of these will not be suitable for other uses, due to my cropping and highlighting, you're free to take any that you like. All I ask is that you give me credit for them. Thanks! :D

~~~ 2.03 "Bloodlust" ~~~
When the first vampire gets beheaded in the teaser, you can see blood spurting up - ewwww!
The morgue attendant's name badge reads J. Manners - a shout out to director/producer, Kim Manners.
Stiff neck Sam? While Dean's getting rid of the morgue attendant, Sam can be seen in the background, apparently working some kinks out of his neck.
Continuity Error: When Sam pulls out the body, Dean's standing at the end in the overhead shot.
With the next shot, he's suddenly standing more on the corner of the slab.
Blowfish face moments in the morgue!
First Dean...
then Sam. Hee! Oh, boys! :)
Name of the bar: The Billyminer Pub
Kind of interesting that the first time we see Gordon, he's smoking a cigarette, which he never does again in any of his other episodes.
You can see that it's raining when the boys confront Gordon in the alley.
Continuity Error: The blood splatter pattern on Dean's face changes between the moment he cuts off the vampire's head and the shot after Sam's shocked look.
Sam finally ends being being annoyed at his Sammy nickname by telling Gordon only Dean gets to call him that. Woot!
And I don't know about the rest of you, but after this episode I felt we all had permission to call him Sammy. ;)
Note: I'm only mentioning the finger snapping thing again because to me it's unusual for a right-handed person to continually snap the fingers of their left hand.
Jensen snaps his fingers with his left hand again. He did it previously in IMTOD.
He snaps his fingers again with his left hand when he's talking to Gordon about John.
This is one of those weird episodes where we know Sam drives the Impala (back to the motel and to take Lenore away at the end), but never actually see him behind the wheel.
We finally get a good look at the name of the Roadhouse: Harvelle's.
When Sam sets down the pop can, it sounds like it's empty even though he's only taken a brief drink from it outside.
According to Kripke in answering a question in the SPN mag., the scene where Sam is attacked in the motel room is when Jared further injured his already injured arm (done during the summer break), prompting them to hastily write Sam getting his arm hurt by Angela in the next episode, CSPWDT.
Oh, and check out the t-shirt Jared's wearing in the motel fight scene. What's with the stars? *g*
Second SammyFrown as Sam meets Lenore.
Continuity Error: When Sam and Dean first return to the room after their discussion, Dean's necklace is caught on the collar of his jacket...
However, in the following reverse shot, it's against his shirt as it should be.
Back to the other camera, and it looks like the amulet is again caught on the leather jacket.
Gordon's License Plate: Michigan TRI 208
After the shot of Gordon turning after the bridge we see a shot of the Impala on the road and that's not Jensen and Jared in the car.
In the fight with Gordon, when Dean falls backward onto the table you can see it's Jensen's stunt double.
Hope you enjoyed this revealing look at "Bloodlust".
