I've been reading about the latest fandom wank on my flist and while I don't know any of the details, it upsets me to hear that people are locking down their journals and making drastic friends cuts because of this.

What kind of a message does that send to the perpetrator of this crime? That they can control this fandom? That they can intimidate us into hiding? That's not what LJ is about. It's about sharing, meeting people from around the world that you would otherwise have no contact with, being open and expressing opinions, being able to talk about and enjoy common interests with others, giving of yourself and your talents, and most of all being part of a community.

You can't have a community if everyone is closed off from each other.

I am not going to change anything here on my LJ. I trust my Flist. There will be no cuts and no turning my journal to Friends only.

Let's show the strength of this fandom by standing our ground and not bending to the whim of someone who lacks the morals and understanding of what being a member of this community is all about.

Edit: All I can gather from the posts and comments from my flist is that someone in the fandom was outed by a fellow fan to family and friends about her online activities (Wincest and I don't know what else).
