Got a little local mini-rant over what Seattle's CBS station KIRO TV did last night.

Every summer Seattle (and a lot of Puget Sound) celebrates with a festival called Seafair and this is it's 60th year. A big deal. There's lots of events for several weeks, culminating in two of the biggest & best: The Torchlight Parade & the hydroplane races (The Seafair Cup) on Seafair Sunday.

Last night (July 25th) was the Torchlight Parade through downtown Seattle. It's full of local bands, floats, drill teams, dignitaries, and 2 Seafair staples: the Seafair Clowns and the Seafair Pirates. KIRO's broadcast of the parade is equally traditional. They've been airing it for as long as I can remember. The parade last night was scheduled to air from 8 to 10 p.m. (live).

However, at 10:00...just as the Seafair Pirates were about to appear, they ended the broadcast to show a rerun of The Unit. Are you friggin' kidding me???? Why KIRO? Why???? For a lot of people the Pirates are the best part of Seafair and you cut them off! It's an outrage and I can't wait to hear the complaints about this. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was disappointed.

I think the Pirates should make you guys of KIRO walk the plank.
