These are just my first impressions of the season's second episode. My full-length review with caps will be posted later. This just gives me a chance to express my initial thoughts about the episode and touch on a few highlights.
With each of these First Impressions posts I'll include a little cropped cap from the episode. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.
Consider this fanart. If you take it, please give credit. :)

* Oooh, death by power saw! I found it a little shocking that the network allowed them to show as much of this as they did. While I knew the guy was going to get it, it was still quite a gut-punch to see that saw rip through his body.
* Sneaky Sammy, workin' on the demon-deal behind big brother's back! And how cute is it that Sam can easily lie to strangers, but fumbles around when lying to Dean. *snerk*
* "Gumby girl....Does that make me pokey?" Mwuhahahahaha...oh, Dean! *gigglesnort*
* Wow! Lisa's got the whitest teeth! But she and Dean are very cute together. Love all those smiles.
* "Yes! AC/DC rules!!!" Ha! Could this kid be anymore like Dean? I think not. :D
* So amusing as the female neighbors ogle Dean! Not that I blame them. Heck, I'd be right there with them! "Best-Night-Of-My-Life-Dean" Oh, God, yes! Great gratuitous butt shot, btw! *snigger* Love his awkward little escape from them, too. LOL! I'm going this way...No! This way. Hilarious! XD
* OMG...Dean & this kid have to be father & son. Seriously. The similarities are just too much. Classic rock, cars, watching the girls, eating, the way they talk.
* The mysterious Ruby shows up again. I like Ruby. Katie does a good job with the attitude. Ooooh...a tidbit about mom. That got his attention. Isn't it kinda cool how she writes her phone number on his hand. I haven't done anything like that since high school.
* She totally burned that grilled cheese sandwich!
* Okay...not only are these kids hungry and creepy, they're very demanding too.
* The scene with Dean & Ben in the park is awesome. Love Dean's amusement and glee as Ben knocks down the big bully.
* I don't know why but I found the whole drowning your "not Katie" kid in the water to be just a bit extreme. I mean, I would question my own sanity (especially since my ex had just died and I'd be effected by that) before I'd ever resort to murder. Meh. Whatever. Didn't work anyhow. The girl ends up back at the house before mommy gets there.
* "Creepy stare-at-you-like-you're-lunch kids" Dean always has a way of cutting right to the heart of a case. :)
* Uh, oh...Dean you're too late. That's not sweet little Ben anymore.
* Love how Ben acts just like Dean, being the hero and reassuring the other kids. He even makes the other kids climb out the window first.
* Damn! This gal kicks both the brother's asses!
* Love how Dean really wanted to be Ben's dad, but recognized that settling down and having a family isn't a future for him. And I think he'd feel that way even without having a year left to live. If he'd never lived the life of a hunter, that'd be one thing, but it's all he knows now. However, it's very sweet of him to sort of mourn the loss of a normal life and wish he could have been Ben's dad. On the other hand (&
trystan830 mentioned this) Lisa could be lying. Hmmmm.....
* How did Sam even know what people to track down who knew his mom? He didn't even know his mom.
* I knew it! I knew it! Ruby's a demon! *squee* How cool! But she's not your normal demon. This should be interesting. She knows about Sam, knows about Mary, and....she claims to have a way to save Dean. Oooooh!
I'll post my full review w/caps in the next several days.
