First Impressions: 3.11 Mystery Spot

raloriaLook! I'm actually getting this posted early! Yay! Remember this post is very spoilery if you haven't seen the episode yet!
These are just my first impressions of this episode. My full-length review with caps will be posted later. This just gives me a chance to express my initial thoughts about the episode and touch on a few highlights.
With each of these First Impressions posts I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.

Whoah! That's bizarre....bet the set design team had fun designing this one.

OMG.....Dean.....gah! Dean dies...oh Jensen...you just...did that beautifully while ripping my heart out at the same time. I swear my heart actually hurt for a few seconds. And the way he looked into Sam's eyes....*cries*
Dean's alive!
"Dude...Asia." LOL! I love the way Jensen said that and gave that little look...awesome!
I still can't get over them sharing the bathroom! Too cute! The brothers that hunt together....brush their teeth together. *giggles*
Oh, Sam thinks it was all a dream....
"Clowns or midgets?" LOL
"Dingo ate my baby crazy" LMAO I really need that on an icon.
Sam: "Let's just go now. Business hours. Nice and crowded."
Dean: "My God you're a freak."
Heehee!
Oh god....hit by a car....poor Sammy.
Here we go again.....more gargling
"Sammy, I get all tingly when you take control like that." LMAO That'll get a section of the fangirls going.
Sam's getting really upset....oh.....he tells Dean he's going to die....eep
angsty moment....meep
Sam: "Twice now...I've watched you die. And I can't.....I won't do it again. Okay? You're just gonna have to believe me. Please."
Jared just tore my heart again with those lines....and Jensen's reaction to it. Dean knows that feeling, having watched Sam die. *cries for the boys*

Dean: "Did it look cool like in the movies?"
Sam: "You peed yourself"
Dean: "Of course I peed myself. A man gets hit by a car you think he has full control of his bladder? C'mon!"
LOL!
Oooh they're in suits again!
Sam's a little tense....understandable....the guy did kill Dean.
"Okay Kojack let's get some air."....heehee
Ooh...smashed by the desk!
Poor Sammy....it's Tuesday....again.

I love it when Dean calls the waitress, Doris, sweetheart. Why is that so hot?

I like Dean's optimism.
Oh God....choking on a sausage...slipping in the shower....bad taco....electrocution.....LOL!

Double talking!!!! LOL I'd love to know if this bit came easily to them or if there was lots of bloopers involved. Hee.

Another morning begins...even though Dean didn't die (or at least we didn't see it).
Guess who's baaaaaack....

No breakfast...
Oh God...he's gonna get shot again....
Oh Sammy.....he tries closing his eyes, thinking he'll wake up and the day will start over again.
"I'm supposed to wake up"....*weeps*

Oh wow...3 months...and Dean's still dead....Sam's moved on...still hunting, but he's changed...methodical, unfeeling, uncaring, an empty shell.
Jared again, does a great job here. Showing how Sam's demeanor has darkened.
Bobby trying to get through to him...
Sam's obsession is now finding the Trickster.
Bobby!!!!! He found the Trickster!
Sam's ready and willing to kill someone for that blood. Yikes!
Oh geez....Bobby no, don't do that!
Oh God....Sam what did you do?
Phew! It wasn't Bobby *starts breathing again*
Is there any way to kill this guy???
Sam's begging to be taken back to when Dean was alive....*sniffle*

Yeah, Dean...he's not letting you out of his sight anytime soon....
Sam's so scarred from all of this....and he never wants to see that bed again...and again....again he lies to Dean....so sad.
I loved this episode on so many levels. Yes, it had it's lighter moments and some of them were very humorous, but most of it was just heartbreakingly sad. Even though I knew Dean was going to die multiple times, it was difficult to see some of them. The first one especially because he literally died in Sam's arms just like Sam died in his. In all the other death scenes Dean was already dead when Sam got to him, but in the first one he was still alive, struggling for life and looking at Sam in horror and fear. The parking lot death was equally sad because Sam thought it was over and Dean was safe. He wanted to wake up and have another chance to save his brother, but it didn't happen.
The Trickster claims that he's trying to show Sam what life will be like without Dean and that they've got to stop sacrificing themselves for each other. Of course, Sam's simple answer to that is that Dean is his brother and really, that's the only explanation you need. They can't function apart from each other anymore. Their bond is too strong and yes, the demons will use that against them, but it also makes them stronger. For them, there's simply no other way. They live for each other, fight for each other, and will die for each other. Another sad point is that this time it's Sam left with the emotional scars instead of Dean. Dean has no memory of all those Tuesdays, while Sam will no doubt be haunted by them all. Most of all he'll be haunted by the memory of those 3 months without Dean, knowing if they don't break Dean's deal it will be for real.
This part is going to seem way out of left field, but stay with me...
As I was making some caps for this post a piece of movie soundtrack entered my mind. I could remember most of it and then it was a matter of remembering what film it was from. After some thinking I recalled it was from the "Legends Of The Fall" soundtrack by James Horner. Now keep in mind that I love this soundtrack yet I've never seen the movie. I love the music so much that now I'm a little afraid to see the film, as it will forever tie the music to the film. As it is now, I can use this music for many things. I figured out the piece I heard in my head was "The Wedding". It's sad and beautiful and somehow I started to fit it visually with this episode of SPN. Another good track is "Goodbyes", which is very sad. So as I've been looking at my caps and reliving those death scenes I'm listening to this music (& thanks to a lucky online download search). It just fits the tone of the episode so well...the loss and heartbreak of Dean dying. I'm seriously considering making a music vid for the episode with one or both of these tracks.
I thought I'd upload the 2 tracks here, just for the heck of it. Feel free to give a listen and see what you think. You might wanna have some tissues handy.
