UNC Achordants Music & Video Links
Feb. 28th, 2008 07:59 amBack in January I discovered the a cappella music of this group from the University of North Carolina, called the Achordants. The all-male group have a wonderful sound and an enthusiasm and humor to their performances that I found exciting and fresh. Once I got to looking into the group online, I found many YouTube videos of their performances, as well as their own website and MySpace page. Quickly getting hooked on their music, I sought out every example of their music I could find online.
What you'll find here is almost all of their music that I could find, recorded from their MySpace page and the YouTube videos. They've all been edited when needed (fading the live performances in and out to eliminate most of the crowd noise and applause) and converted into mp3s.
The video that started it all...the Achordants performing "Carry On Wayward Son".
Another favorite of mine, "Long Train Running". Gotta love the gal who yells out "still here!" near the beginning!
One more favorite. "Don't Stop Me Now" Is it any wonder that all my favorites have the lead singer of Phillip Childers. I just love his voice!
The remaining videos can be found here on YouTube.
The Achordants -- Their Official site. Check out the "Music" tab to find several of the YouTube videos.
MySpace: Achordants -- You can listen to 6 of their songs here.
The following is a list of the 22 songs I recorded online. You'll find all of these in the zipped folder at the bottom. Most are from the YouTube videos, so the audio quality on them isn't the greatest. I've labeled them "Achordants Live". The other six songs are the lovely stereo versions of their songs from the MySpace page. Enjoy!
Note: There's two versions of "Carry On Wayward Son" here from 2 different videos. I liked them both and couldn't decide. So you get both of them.

Edit (Oct. 23, 2008): As a request, I have re-uploaded my folder of the UNC Achordants music files. This time it's a permanent link through MediaFire. Enjoy!
