Transcripts of the CW Connects Videos
Apr. 15th, 2008 11:40 pmI'm bouncy like a giggly fangirl over the new CW Connects video interviews with Jensen and Jared on the CW site. They're awesome! There's 4 in all and I've watched them twice. :D
Best parts? Jensen interrupting Jared's Part One interview to stick a twizzler in this his face and Jared going "Don't twizzler me!" LOL! Jensen then interrupts again at the end of the clip to grab Jared to go do more filming. Jensen saying Kim Manners would be Benji the dog and saying if the Impala and Sam were stuck in quicksand that Dean would rescue the car first! Heehee!
I know we're all eagerly waiting for these to show up on YouTube or for download somewhere, but I did find these transcripts of the interviews over on the CW Lounge provided by RunawayRunway.
Jared CW Connect: Part 1
Dede32: Is Sam going to have a love interest in the future?
Jared: Dede32, as far as Sam having a love interest, I don’t think so. I don’t think Sam or Dean will ever have a true, what you would call, love interest. You know, we’ve both had our little flings and our little love scenes and kisses and stuff like that. But I don’t think we’re going to ever have a full – I think it’d be kind of weird to have, you know, Dean and Sam and some chick in the Impala. I think they just like Sam and Dean and the Impala. So I don’t know if there’ll ever be a long term relationship.
Spoilerwolf: Because of Dean’s deal, Sam’s thrown himself more into the hunt and has more of an edge. Is this a good change for Sam?
Jared: Spoilerwolf, I think that’s a great question. And I do personally feel it’s a great change for Sam. I mean, I’ve had the opportunity to play Good Sam, College Boy Sam, and Friendly Sam – that you know, Dean, don’t shoot. We don’t know what’s going on here just yet, hold you horses, let’s figure things out, try and talk it through. So it’s fun to play a baddie. You know, a bad guy. And I had a great time shooting Born Under a Bad Sign where I got inhabited by a demon…or possessed…inhabited? Where I got possessed by a demon, so, I really enjoyed doing it.
bestshowfan: If Sam were to dress up for Halloween, what would it be and why?
Jared: bestshowfan, if Sam were to dress up? I think if Sam were to dress up as someone for Halloween, I think he’d be Dean. Because he has access to all his clothes. He knows who does his makeup and his hair, and it would be really easy to pull it off. Just go like this (*Does Blue Steel*) and I’d be set.
Mtarcher1990: Everyone knows what Dean’s favorite music is. What type of music does Sam like?
Jared: That’s a great question. I mean, I think Sam’s been forced to listen to hard rock, and I think it’s probably grown on him. But Sam strikes me as more of the college kind of emo, bluesy, maybe a Jack Johnson, or like a Death Cab for Cutie kind of guy.
DudeUFugly: With such demanding work schedules, how do you keep in shape?
Jared: DudeUFugly, I try and stay in shape by working out in the morning. I have a dog – I have two dogs – well, my big dog is at home, he had surgery so he’s back home in L.A. recouping. So I run my dog a lot, and I basically have a gym in my garage that I work out in every morning, and I run on my treadmill.
bowhunter: Last season Kim Manners got you back for a prank by dumping water on you. Did you get him back?
Jared: bowhunter, this is a good question. We already have our exact plan to get Kim Manners back, and we’re going to in the next couple weeks. (*Jensen walks in with a Twizzler in his mouth*) With this guy. (*Jensen pokes Jared in the face with Twizzler*) Don’t Twizzler me. (*Jensen winks and smiles at camera with Twizzler in mouth, walks away*)
Nekowoman14: I read that Jensen wins when you play golf, but you win when you play Guitar Hero. Do you have any other favorite video games?
Jared: Nekowoman14, Jensen does win when we play golf. I shoot about a 140 on a good day. I threw out a bucket of balls, so I’m certainly by no means a golfer. But I can beat him at Guitar Hero, which I’m very proud of, and I can also beat him in Halo. But I haven’t played Halo a whole lot, it’s new to me, but I like it a lot. But I like the old Nintendo 64 games, I guess if you’re asking about video games.
Yanks4Life23519: What monster would you like to see on the show that we haven’t seen yet?
Jared: That’s a good question. Okay, Yanks4Life, there’s a really exact answer to this question. When I grew up, my dad let me watch some Movie of the Week or something called Shadow Man. It was about a guy who’s a shadow, but he commits himself to one person, and once he decides to change who he’s going to become a Shadow Man for, he then kills the person he used to be a shadow for. It’s really creepy and really scary, and I’d like to see Shadow Man. I think his name might not be Shadow Man, but that’s what I think.
Jensen: (Interrupting) Dude, they’re not going to listen to this, they’re not really going to care at all. We got to go to work. Let’s go. See ya later.
Jared CW Connect: Part 2
Starlite04: If you were to create a Supernatural episode, what would it be about?
Jared: If I were to create a Supernatural episode, it would be all about Dean. And Sam would be on the phone in voice overs, and Dean would be having the time of his life. Getting dropped into mud and, you know, run over by cars, and chasing demons and stuff like that. And Sam would be back at his Motel room sleeping. So, sounds good. Right?
Kimiit: Just how much do you know ahead of time about what’s happening to your character? Is it script to script?
Jared: Kimiit, that’s a question that kind of, changes. I don’t often know very far ahead of time what’s happening with my character. A lot of times I’ll have some idea, but I don’t know specifics. And sometimes, that idea changes drastically. For instance, this year before the strike, Eric Kripke, who as you know is our creator, flew up and kind of talked to Jensen and myself about his idea for the Season 3 arc and where our characters were going to go and what they were going to do. And that completely changed when the strike happened and we had to nix six episodes and come back for only four. So it depends, at least an episode ahead of time.
jensenlvr86: Of all of the things you’ve hunted, which has peaked your interest the most?
Jared: Of all the things we’ve hunted, what’s peaked my interest the most is the Hell Hound idea. The Crossroad Blues episode where you make a deal with the demon – well a deal with a demon, a deal with the devil – and then you later die. I had no idea when we were shooting it that Dean was ultimately going to make that same deal. But I thought it was such a great idea. It was such a great episode. I thought it was so interesting, you know, to hear the old stories. So wait, he became this amazing guitarist and ten years later he died in a mysterious fashion and saw dogs and stuff? So it’s very interesting and the lore is really cool.
REGYWIN: Have you ever received a new script and think, “OMG, how can I do that?!”
Jared: REGYWIN, yes I have received a script and thought, “OMG I have to do that?” That’s happened many times. The first thing that comes to mind is the episode Heart where I had a love scene. And I was just like, it was my first love scene I’ve ever done. And so I remember thinking to myself, “Man, I’m going to have to work out, go to a tanning salon, and not eat candy. And that was Earth shattering because I had to clean up my diet and really hit the gym hard every day. That just sucked, because I enjoy having a beer and watching football games, hockey games, and basketball games. And you know, eating pizza and burgers, so it sucked to give that up for a month.
kwamelink: What have been some of your favorite songs featured on Supernatural?
Jared: I’m into all the songs. I love the classic rock, but my favorite music cue I can think of is in the episode Nightshifter, where Jensen and I get out of the bank with the S.W.A.T. outfits on and we get into the car and shut the doors. And then Styx turns on and it’s Renegade. And I thought it was a wicked, wicked music cue.
DudeUFugly: Kim Manners said that if you were dogs, Jensen would be Rin Tin Tin and you would be Pluto. Do you agree? What would Kim be?
Jared: DudeUFugly, that’s a great question. Pluto is probably pretty accurate. I’m sort of a big bumbling kind of character, sort of run into things and break things, and I don’t always know what my lines are. Jensen being Rin Tin Tin? That’s pretty funny, I could see that. If Kim were a dog, he’d be – I don’t know. What’s the smallest dog that exists? Maybe like a miniature Chihuahua or something. Just little and yappy and annoying, you know? Talentless, also.
Jensen CW Connect: Part 1
Kimiit: Just how much do you know ahead of time about what’s happening to your character? Is it script to script?
Jensen: Well Kimiit, I do kind of read it just script to script. And yes, Kripke keeps things very close to the vest and doesn’t like to tell us much because he likes to keep us guessing just as much as he likes to keep you guys guessing. In being, playing one of the characters in the show, I’m also a fan of the show when it comes to reading it.
Starlite04: If you were to create a Supernatural episode, what would it be about?
Jensen: Well Starlite04, if I could create one, I probably would – you probably would never see it because writing and creating is something that our writers do and they do very well. And to try and compete with that? I’d be an idiot.
eleven21983: We’ve heard that you guys do a lot of your own stunts, which was your favorite and why?
Jensen: I’m going to take the time to quote Harrison Ford. He recently said that he doesn’t do stunts when asked about doing all his own stunts; he said that he runs, jumps, and falls down. Stuntmen do stunts. My favorite running, jumping, falling down scene – or sequence – was in the alley when Gordon and Kubrick were shooting at me, and I went jumping off of a wooden crate onto a car, onto a dumpster, and over into the second story of a parking complex. And it was funny because my stunt guy came on and he did it once and he slipped, and I was like, ‘Hey Todd. Why don’t you sit this one out, I’ll do it.’ And I did it better than him, I was pretty proud of myself.
bestshowfan: There seems to be quite a few scenes with children. How is the atmosphere on the set different when they’re around?
Jensen: You know, I remember the first time we had kids on we had this little kid named Nico. It was the third, third or fourth episode in the first season. And it was the little red-headed kid that I saved in the lake, and it was just so much fun. The energy they just bring on set is cool and the crew loves palling around and a lot of these guys have kids themselves, so they’re very welcome here.
kwamelink: What have been some of your favorite songs featured on Supernatural?
Jensen: I got to say my favorite music cue was in last season, episode Nightshifter. At the very end of the episode, Sam and Dean are walking out of the bank dressed in full S.W.A.T. gear, and the song Renegade by Styx came on. That was probably my favorite one so far.
DudeUFugly: Kim Manners said that if you were dogs, you would be Rin Tin Tin and Jared would be Pluto. Do you agree? What would Kim be?
Jensen: Well DudeUFugly – nice, nice tag there. Yeah, Kim did say that. And I couldn’t agree with him more. And if Kim was going to be a dog, I’d have to say he’d be Benji. Because he’s so little and cute.
Jensen CW Connect: Part 2
Yanks4Life23519: Do you enjoy shooting funny episodes or scary episodes more?
Jensen: The funny episodes are obviously, you know, those are always fun to shoot. I have a good time with those. But generally, on this show, being funny for Dean requires me to either eat a lot of food, or do some physical comedy. Which, you know, I get banged up, so I do pay the price for it. And then the scary episodes, those are fun too. Those are, I think that’s what we do, those are our bread and butter. I’d say the hardest shows are the emotional shows. Being physical in a role and doing stunts and things like that, that will beat you up physically. Might have some cuts and bumps and bruises and stuff. But when you dive into emotional scenes, it really takes a toll on you emotionally and that’s – at the end of the day you’re just drained, and so tired.
ohiofan30: Jensen you do a great job of making Dean funny. Would you ever consider doing comedy?
Jensen: Well ohiofan30, yes. I do enjoy doing comedy. It’s one of the aspects to the character that really drew me to the character and which is why I enjoy playing him so much is the comedic aspect of him. To be able to expand on that and actually do something in a comic realm, it would be a lot of fun.
jensenlvr86: We have heard you sing a couple of times in the series. Are there any plans to further a career in singing?
Jensen: Uh, yeah, singing kind of happened by accident a few times, and they’ve written it in a few more times. But it’s funny because I actually try to make an effort to not carry a note well with Dean, because I just don’t think Dean would sing that well. So if you enjoy bad singing, then maybe he’ll sing some more. But I don’t think it’s necessary.
BadCompany: What’s been the best food you have had the opportunity to try on the show?
Jensen: Well BadCompany, the best food that I’ve – that Dean has eaten, I would have to say would be probably the taquitos that I had in Hollywood Babylon last season. But I would say that the food I generally eat, it doesn’t taste very good. So, come about the third or fourth take? I’m not a happy guy.
Jran666: Do you find it strange that the Impala could one day achieve Batmobile-like cult status?
Jensen: Well Jran666, The Impala is – I think it already has “Batmobile Status” to be honest with you. I’m a bit partial, you know, I think that thing can do anything it wants to. Mind you I’d have to be behind the wheel. But, I don’t know, it definitely is the third character to the show and it wouldn’t be the same show without it.
RunawayRunway: The Impala and Sam are thrown into some quicksand. Who does Dean save first?
Jensen: Well RunawayRunaway, if The Impala’s going down and Sam’s going down at the same time in the quicksand? I’m going to have to get the car out first. You know, because sand could get in the engine and mess it up, that whole thing. Sam can just take a shower.
Heehee!
