First Impressions: 3.13 Ghostfacers

raloriaThese are just my first impressions of this episode. My full-length review with caps will be posted later. This just gives me a chance to express my initial thoughts about the episode and touch on a few highlights.
With each of these First Impressions posts I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.

Please keep in mind that these notes were initially taken during the airing of the episode and are very fragmented. I've tried my best to go back through them and fill out some thoughts and ideas, but most will be left "as is". Note: "++++++++++" signifies a commercial break.

Hee...wiping out their footage and their hard drives....awesome, guys!....But Dean kinda liked the show.
Love seeing the Impala tear out onto the road like that. :)
In a nutshell...I loved the episode. It was everything it was touted to be. I can tell you the differences in the sides to the finished episode are huge. For one thing, in the sides it's Harry that Corbett is interested in and Ed and Maggie are not brother and adopted sister, but going together. Weird how they flipped it all around. A lot of the lines are changed too, but they filmed this so differently that a lot of it was ad-libbed. The sides also have Harry doing a lot of narrating and voice-overs. Glad they took those out. Also in the sides, Dean tells Spruce that John once stayed at the Morton House, but didn't find anything. Dean was hoping to get this big mystery solved, before his time was up.
Anyway, I thought it was hilarious. It was fun hearing the boys swear (sorta) and be more themselves, perhaps. We didn't see a lot of them, but the laughs kept coming so fast that I honestly didn't notice it that much. The shaky cameras bothered some people, but it was fine for me. It totally worked for what they were doing and wasn't done so bad as to be painful. My one beef with the episode is having it so close to the end of the season, but with the writer's strike there wasn't any other option. They were working on this when the strike happened and finished it up when they got back to work. It would have worked better with other episodes behind it, as there would have been without the interruption, but there's not much that can be done about that now. Instead we only get 3 episodes to wrap up Dean's deal. They look like they'll be very good episodes, though. I can't wait! :)
