I'm officially excited. I loved this series when it was on in the 80's. I never got to see the early episodes, but quickly latched onto the characters and the cool stories. It was like an early SPN...in a way. Except this involves two cousins searching for cursed objects. Some of the episodes were pretty gory and scary, too, and I think they'd hold up pretty well even by today's standards.
I still have some of the episodes recorded on Beta videotape. :) I have my favorite episodes...such as the one where Mickey & Ryan end up in hell, the one with the cursed boxing gloves, or the one in the mental institution with the cursed radio. It was a great series until John D. Lemay left the series and another guy was brought in as a sort of replacement character. Ugh. He was awful. No wonder the show didn't last long after that.
Anyhoo, here's the important info. For more details visit HERE.
The retailer-targeted info also confirms that Friday The 13th: The Series - The 1st Season will have all 26 episodes from the first season, on 6 DVDs. Running time is 1179 minutes. Video is in the Full Screen format, and audio is English Mono. No bonus material is mentioned as being included with this set. Cost is $54.99 SRP, but you can still pre-order it from Amazon for $37.99 as of this writing.
The set comes out September 23rd. SPN S3 coming out on Sept. 2nd and then this series in the same month. I'm a happy fangirl. Whoo-hoo! :D
