July 4th Fireworks Video: Progress
Jul. 6th, 2008 02:02 amThought I'd pop in with what I've been doing all day and night long.
I've been working on the video of the fireworks I videotaped the other night. It took me a couple of hours to import my selections into iMovie and then the fun began...editing it down. Even just working with my selections I made the previous night and wrote down, I took a lot of empty spots out. After a few hours, I had a rough cut that was almost 14 minutes! I took out the footage where there was still a bit of daylight, trimmed clips here and there, and put in my cross dissolve transitions. That managed to cut out a lot of time and it's now at almost 11 min. I put in my 4 songs (again, with a bit of editing on one of them), did some touch-up work, and added the credits.
Then I was trying stick in some credits at the beginning and....eeeeep! iMovie crashed! I feared all was lost, but luckily iMovie seems to automatically save as you go along. There isn't even a "save" function on any of the drop down menus. I restarted the program and thank heavens it was all there, just as it had been. Phew! I decided not to tempt fate and left the extra credits out. Mom's going to watch it here in a bit. I think/hope she'll be impressed. It's amazing what a bit of editing and some music can do. This piece looks like a big, professional fireworks show now! I'm even surprised at how cool it looks. :)
Edit: Mom just finished viewing it. Made me turn up the color. She's so smart! It looks perfect now. :)
