July 4th Neighborhood Fireworks Video
Jul. 8th, 2008 01:05 amStill suffering (literally) from the headache that became this video. But it's done as far as I'm concerned. I just can't do anymore. Stupid Photobucket blocked my upload because of copyright issues. Nice of them to let it get halfway uploaded before they stopped it. Grrrr.... So I re-saved it out of iMovie once more at a slightly higher quality. It's up on YouTube now, after a 3 hour upload, and it does play better than the previous version.
The Facts:
This started out as 1 hr. and 35 min. of raw video footage shot by me as my neighbors one street to the north fired off their fireworks. After importing selections of the video into iMovie, I edited it down, taking out all the blank spots (of which there were many). I cranked up the color (thanks, Mom!) because fireworks tend to lose their color when recorded on video. I added music, adjusted the audio, and voila! A fireworks "show" was created! I must admit, I'm really pleased with the way it came out. It almost looks and feels like a big, professional show that you'd see in Seattle or other major cities. :)
Keep in mind that it's illegal where I live for individuals to shoot off fireworks. All the ones you're seeing in the video are illegal....but a great free show for me! :D
You also might notice some tall trees in the video. I do live in the Evergreen State....you're gonna find tall trees! ;) But it's kinda cool, because it shows just how high these big fireworks got.
The Music:
You gotta have patriotic marches and music for a July 4th fireworks show! :)
I chose "Strike Up The Band" because it's just a great way to kick things off. Next is "Rodeo Hoedown". I've always loved this tune and it adds a nice western America touch. The third song was changed from my original-almost 11 min. version of the video. It was originally "Washington Post March". It never did really fit the fireworks, so maybe it's better this way with "America" from "West Side Story" in its place. To finish off the program, we have the traditional "Stars And Stripes Forever".
Disclaimer:
I'm leaving the YouTube version up, even though it doesn't play as well as I'd like. But that's the nature of YouTube. So it's not perfect. I'd suggest watching it once so it can load and then hit "replay". It will actually play a little smoother the second time. But ultimately, the best way to see it, is to grab the download. :)
Length of the video is 9 min. 35 sec.

Edit: Watch it in High Quality if you see that option under the number of views. :)
Comments are love! :D

Thanks to everyone for showing such interest in this project. I never expected to run into as many problems as I did, but in the end I'm very happy with the video. I hope you enjoy it as much I do. :D
