Just to let you all know, I've just finished checking out the LJ's of everyone on my flist. Phew! You've all been busy. This is the first time I've actually looked at everyone's pages all at once. I left a few comments here and there when I felt I had something to say. If I didn't comment at your page this time, maybe next time. But I did read your most recent entries, so I know what's going on. *hugs flist*
Bought 2 new filmmaking books over the weekend. "Setting Up Your Shots" by Jeremy Vineyard and "What They Don't Teach You At Film School" by Camille Landau and Tiare White. I knew I had to buy the second book when I read this list in chapter 18 "Grace Under Pressure: Directing Under Fire":
#119. Good Reasons To Call "Cut"...
1. The boom is making a guest star appearance.
2. A bystander is making a guest star appearance, and is more interesting than anything else in the frame.
3. The sound tape ran out.
and here's the one that sealed it for me...
4. The actor isn't faking that scream.
Lol! Not that I want anyone hurt on a set, but that's just funny. Made me think immediately to a story I heard from my Scriptwriting instructor. He was telling us about the experience of the college shooting their first film around 11 years ago. An actress was supposed to break a glass by squeezing it in her hand. The glass was made out of some of that special breakable glass, but it wasn't the right kind and when she broke it the glass actually cut her hand. Ouch! They kept the shot though and he showed it to us. "That's her real blood", he told us. "I yelled cut and then we took her to the hospital for stitches...she never came back to work on the film after that." Heh. No wonder.
On the picspam front, I'm happy to say things are more under control than they were last week. I've actually got the next 2 DA episodes capped and this week's DA picspam for Gill Girl is all ready to be uploaded and then posted. For SPN, Tuesday's Picspam of Faith is all ready to go and I've got Thursday's Picspam of Hell House capped. I also capped the DVD set's Blooper Reel (and I'm in the process of fixing the caps) and I'm gonna make two picspams of that. One will be just of the slates for those of you who obsess over them like I do. ;D The other will just hit the main highlights of the Blooper Reel. So there's goodies on the way!
Oh, and I finally bought some postcards so I can participate in the Supernatural Postcard Campaign! Now I just gotta figure out what to write and send 'em off so the guys and the crew up north will know how much I appreciate their hard work. I bought 12 total, but sadly there's no humorous ones in the bunch. There is a cute one with some prairie dogs that says "Hugs & Kisses from Washington". I've gotta send that one! Most of the others are of Seattle or Mt. Rainier. When I send some, I'll be sure to scan them first and post them here, so you can see what I sent.
