Fighting Capping Limbo

This is a post I've wanted to do for a long time, but...life. *sigh*
Since SPN ended I've sort of been in a quandary over how to go on or *if* I should even go on capping the episodes and various videos of the cast. I've got quite the backlog of what I call Misc. Videos about SPN that are still waiting to be capped and others that are capped, but are waiting to be finished, uploaded, and posted. Plus, there's other little unfinished projects of mine, such as the Beginnings & Endings cap series (need to begin Season 8). It's quite a mess!
In the meantime, I've been capping the SPN episodes, since the end of Season 1 for Fangasm's rewatch reviews. I didn't start providing caps for her since the beginning because we hadn't connected yet. She's currently on Season 2, so this is going to take some time. Since I don't have a lot of the early season episodes capped, I see this as a great opportunity and motivator for me to finally get the whole series done. In addition, I'm also capping Walker for Fangasm and the folks at WinchesterFamilyBusiness (more on this in a bit).
I'd like to go back and cap Season 1 properly - as I'm now doing for Season 2.
However, in looking at the cap status of some of the later seasons, I found that I'm nearly finished with Highlight Caps for Season 13 and I'd really like to finish posting those first. Tonight, I finished making the Fanart Cap Cards for the remaining Season 13 cap sets. I said last year that I wasn't going to do anymore of those, but since I'd already done it for the bulk of Season 13, I wanted to finish it off. ;)
Once I finish with posting the Season 13 caps, I'll probably start in on the Season 2 ones that are done. I'm hoping once Season 2 of Walker is done, I'll have more time to go back and cap Season 1 of SPN.
You with me so far?
As for Walker...
I must admit that I haven't actually watched any of the Season 2 episodes. It's a mix of not having a lot of time to watch an episode (and then cap it) and not really being interested enough in the show. *sigh* I keep telling myself I'll go back and watch them, but...nope. Hasn't happened yet.
I have made some interesting observations about Walker in capping the episodes and thought I'd share them.
+++ They have some weird framing of shots when there's 2 people. Sadly, I tend to find it annoying. Sometimes you'll have one person framed in the shot and then a little of the person they're talking to just on the left or right edge of the frame. This is less than an over-the-shoulder shot where you literally see the person's shoulder in the foreground. It's usually just the edge of their face, hair, or an arm. Ugh! Distracting!
+++ One type of shot I've noticed this season in particular is a panning shot from one person to another where they're facing one another. There must be something about this being a requirement per episode because I even saw Jensen do this in his episode last week.
+++ I will say that I've noticed some very specific changes in Jared's mannerisms and facial expressions in Walker as opposed to Sam in SPN. Some of his expressions are the same, of course, but others are ones I've never seen before. He also does a lot of finger pointing as Cordell. Another observation is that Jared tends to close his eyes when he smiles, so it's super tough to get a good cap of him smiling.
+++ Since I get to see the Walker actors frame by frame and really get to study their differences, I've determined my favorites. This is based on my capping experiences alone:
- Violet (Stella) -- She's easily my favorite. She has the most expressive face, her eyes are always open, yet she doesn't do a lot of moving around when she's talking, so she's almost always in perfect focus.
- Keegan (Liam) -- It's hard to take a bad cap of this guy. He's alot like Jensen in that respect.
- Jeff (Trey) -- Really expressive and whoo! He's hot!
- Odette (Geri) -- Again, really expressive with her facial expressions. Makes it a pleasure to cap her.
- Lindsay (Micki) -- Gosh, I miss her! Beautiful actress (and they seemed to light her so well).
- Kale (August) -- Sadly, he is my problem person for capping. No offense to him as a person or an actor, but he gets some really weird facial expressions that I don't find terribly attractive.
- Ashley (Cassie) -- She's kind of like Kale so far. Meh.
Anyway, since we're about 2 months from Walker's season finale, I might just wait until it's over to start posting the Season 2 caps from it. But we'll see how things go...
I'll also admit, it's sometimes a pain to cap a show I don't even watch or care for all that much. I mean, if it wasn't for Jared, I definitely wouldn't be bothering with it at all. My apologies to anyone who really loves the show, but I'm just being honest. I tried to give it a chance in Season 1, but it just didn't grab me. It's also a little frustrating to see the writers continue to make mistakes they made in the first season. But...for now, I'll continue to cap the show.
As for Jensen in Season 3 of The Boys? Well...I need to watch the first 2 seasons and I must admit that the touchy content is kind of scaring me off. But! It's Jensen. *sigh* I'd like to watch it. I'd like to like it. I just have to talk myself into checking it out...
So that's it. The state of capping for me right now. I've realized I can't stay in this limbo state forever. I'd very much like to continue capping and posting them here. I can only hope that those of you who are still around will enjoy them.
If you read this whole post - thank you! :)
