First Impressions: 4.05 Monster Movie

raloriaI've abandoned my full-length episode reviews for these shorter, First Impressions posts.
With each of these reviews I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.
Consider these fanart. If you take either of them, please give credit. :)
Super sorry for the extra long delay in getting this posted. *iz bad* Things have been so busy with filming and RL stuff. *sigh* As you'll see, I've returned to the more rambly, comment-while-it's-airing type of notes. I've left them "as is", so you'll see a lot of missed punctuation and lower-case on proper names. I think they're better this way, more spontaneous and fresh.
Note: "==============" signifies a commercial break.

Sam....he's so smart. All it takes is a broken liquor bottle, some empty glasses, and a napkin with lipstick on it and the boy's got this all figured out. Riiiiiiiiiggghhhht.....

Hmmm....some real feelings from a shapeshifter...kinda feel sorry for the guy....

If Dean made life into a movie it would be Porky's II....LOL...and Sam was right!
A hilarious episode, done with all the magical SPN touches we love so much and given the classic 1930's b&w horror movie treatment. Show? You are awesome! The boys looked quite striking in stark b&w and in suits. Yum! Great lighting throughout and some unusual camera angles added to the very different look of the episode. By far, Jensen benefited the most from the b&w treatment. His handsome features seem made for the classic movie star treatment. In some of the scenes he looks very much like Cary Grant, Tyrone Power, or Errol Flynn. *swoons* I like how Jamie was no damsel in distress, but held her own and ended up killing the shapeshifter all on her own. And even though this was a stand alone humorous episode, we still had that moment with Dean reflecting on how his outlook on life has changed. Just another reminder that the show's mythology is never really forgotten even in a MOTW episode.
