First Impressions: 4.14 Sex And Violence

raloriaI've abandoned my full-length episode reviews for these shorter, First Impressions posts.
With each of these reviews I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.
Consider these fanart. If you take either of them, please give credit. :)
I'm trying to get this posted as soon after the episode as possible, again by using caps made from my recording of the episode. Hopefully there's still some squee left out there. ;)
As you'll see, I've returned to the more rambly, comment-while-it's-airing type of notes. I've left them "as is", so you'll see a lot of missed punctuation and lower-case on proper names. I think they're better this way, more spontaneous and fresh.
Note: "==============" signifies a commercial break.

Wow....this is harsh.....from both of them....
Dean says Sam isn't the brother he knew before...all the lies & secrets
Sam says Dean is weak, not a good hunter, too chicken to go after demons and whining because he tortured souls in hell.....eeeep, that “boo-hoo” part really hurt. :(
Major fight!
Dean comes out the winner....is going to take the final blow at Sam with an axe...eeek!
Bobby to the rescue!!!!!!! :D
And he takes out the Siren as well...with the brass blade that has Dean's blood on it....cool! Well, not cool really, 'cause ouch, Dean, but you get the idea. :)
The boys come out of the spell.....awkward, sad looks between them

It's time for beers by the Impala...ooops....sodas by the Impala....
Bobby's worried about them and with good reason....there's still a lot of tension there
Sam wants to make sure they're okay....awww
Of course, they both claim they're good.....yeah, right...boys, boys, boys.....*sigh* The lies continue.
I gotta look up that bridge....heh ;)
Found it! It's the Pattullo Bridge by New Westminster. :)
The glory that is S4 is back!!! An outstanding episode that lived up to all expectations.
Right away we get Dean being suspicious of Sam and Sam continuing to lie to Dean. *sigh* I like how we and the boys were guessing who the siren was for quite a while. Thank goodness for Bobby! If they hadn't called in for his help on this case...*shudders* The episode also showed how easily the boys can be swayed by strangers. Sure, Cara didn't turn out to be the siren but, Sam fell for her so easily. Meanwhile, once Dean found out Nick liked Zeppelin and the Impala, he was suddenly best buds with the guy.
Let's never mind all that though. The best part of the hour was the big showdown between the boys. As much as they love and would do anything for each other, they can also be viciously cruel to one another. Sam was particularly harsh with his boasting about his hunting abilities over Dean's and his lack of sympathy for his brother's time in Hell. Ouch! The only thing Dean had to say was about Sam's constant stream of lies and secrets. The fight itself was awesome! I bet the guys had fun with it. The aftermath though doesn't leave us in any better spot than we were before. The lies between the brothers continue. It's painful to see them like this, with their equal lack of trust. Sam feels held back by Dean's lack of trust in him and Dean has the same lack of trust in Sam because of the secrets he's been keeping. The divide just keeps growing.
Anyway, I love the show and I'm on this ride to the end! :D
