| My notes about the 81st Oscars Highlights Only (Warnings for a few opinionated rants with lots of love & glee) |
The stage design is beautiful. Very 1930's Art Deco. I love it! The crystal curtain, the closeness of the audience to the circular front part of the stage...brilliant and more intimate. I also liked how the show was run like a film production....in order from the written word by the screenwriter onward.
Having past Oscar winners to present the bigger awards was also a very nice touch.
Cute & entertaining opening musical number by Jackman. I liked it. :)
Jeez...Jennifer Aniston tore into that envelope like she couldn't care less....I'm disappointed. At least show some respect....even if it is for an animated film and you think it's beneath you.
But yay for Wall-E winning...even though I haven't seen it yet. :P
Love the great set for the Art Direction, Costume Design, & Makeup presentations. It was beautiful and economical. Nicely done by Daniel Craig and Sarah Jessica Parker. :)
Yeah, Ben Stiller poking fun at Joaquin Phoenix was funny, but did it have to be done during the Cinematography award? Natalie was trying to describe how important the art of cinematography is and everyone's giggling at him. Bad move on what's been a very nice Oscars so far.
The movie musical tribute number was cool. I'm still a bit of a purist concerning musicals, but this was well done by Jackman, Beyonce, & the others. Very classy.
I'm glad Heath won the Oscar, even though there was almost no way he wouldn't win it.
I liked the Documentary presentation, too. More people should watch these films and it's good to see them receive some recognition.
Seems like the big winners are Benjamin Button & Slumdog Millionaire.
I love music scores and the presentation of those nominees was also elegantly done. Bravo!
What a lovely and classy tribute to those who have passed away over the past year. Queen Latifa sang "I'll Be Seeing You" and there was a great cheer at the end for Paul Newman. Beautiful!
Wow! Reese Witherspoon's dress is gorgeous! I love the black & blue. *stares*
Awww....so happy Kate Winslet won!!!! I have tears in my eyes. What a gracious speech. *loves her*
Sean Penn won for Best Actor and "Slumdog Millionaire" for Best Picture.
Very cool seeing what the upcoming films are during the closing credits.
Overall, this Oscar telecast was very well done and in a word...classy. It flowed nicely and didn't feel overly long. It had glamor, elegance, and an excellent mix of the old generation mixed with the new.
I'm really interested in this new show, Castle. It looks cute, funny, and cool. :D
