My theories for the SPN Season Finale
May. 8th, 2007 04:28 pmEven though I'm wrong every single time, I can't help but speculate about SPN's season finale. I live for spoilers and have read everything that I've come across on the two-parter. Naturally, I've found myself filling in the holes and visualizing how things are going to transpire.
For those of you remaining spoiler-free, I would turn back right now.
All the following spoilers (in italics) come from Spoilerfix.com, but the speculation is my own.
02/28 - Sam, Andy and Ava find themselves in Cold Oak, Massachusatts with two other 'chosen': super-strong Jake and Lily, who refuses to believe in her abilities. Assuming they've been put there by the yellow-eyed demon, they struggle with what to do and what they've learned about their powers. Neither brother knows the condition or whereabouts of the other, though Dean consults with Ash and hunts with Bobby to find Sam. Ava's true intentions are revealed. Jake saves Sam's life, but later turns on the younger Winchester. Source: SpoilerFix.com
03/14 - In episode 2.21, Ava [claims to have the ability to control demons, but ultimately turns on Sam. To save him, Jake kills her.] Source: SpoilerFix BuddyTV Spoilers Chat
04/20 - Sam is abducted by the Yellow-Eyed Demon and finds himself in a ghost town with other children who have special abilities. They learn the Demon has brought them together to initiate his endgame: an all-out war against the human race. In an effort to encourage Sam to fight, the Demon shows him what really happened to one of his parents. Dean enlists Bobby's (guest star Jim Beaver) help to find Sam before the battle begins, but he arrives too late. Source: The CW
So Sam finds himself in a ghost town with Andy, Ava, and new characters Jake and Lilly. Dean is getting help from Ash and Bobby to find Sam. Ava tries to kill Sam, but Jake kills her first. By the DC's, Bobby points out to Dean that there's been no sign of the Demon and Ash has some info. for Dean, but will only tell him in person at the Roadhouse. I'm still trying to figure out when and how the Roadhouse burns down, but apparently there are pictures of a burned Roadhouse that were taken by visitors to the set. We know from the preview that the same actor who played the YED in IMTOD returns (yay!) and that Sammy was always his favorite. This could also be the point where the YED supposedly shows Sam through a vision, what happened the night his mother died. It's been rumored that Mary knew of the YED before the events of that night. There's also some freaky-looking young girl with very pointy nails who morphs into something very demonic looking. The preview also shows a flash of Dean in pain and then clutching at his head. Could this mean that Dean is developing visions, too? It looks that way, but it could just as easily be something attacking him somehow. By the end of the episode, Dean and Bobby finally track Sam down, only to watch as Sam is stabbed in the back by Jake.
05/01 - Dean must deal with the aftermath of the fight between Sam and Jake (guest star Aldis Hodge) and pays a steep price for his involvement. The Demon and his spirits threaten to overtake the hunters until they receive help from an unexpected ally. Source: The CW
There is a lot less known about part 2 at this point. By the photos that've appeared from the two-parter, it appears that Sam does indeed die. It also looks like Dean takes his body back to Bobby's place and tries to figure out what to do. My theory (based on photos) is that Dean is falling apart from Sam's death and drinking. Bobby is probably urging Dean to burn Sam's body and Dean is refusing, trying to find some way to bring his brother back from the dead. The indication is that Dean ends up making a deal with the Crossroads Demon to bring Sam back.
More speculation tidbits...
* John will make an appearence sometime in the two-parter, but when and for what reason aren't known.
* Based on photos, Dean gets the Colt back and faces down the YED with it.
* Based on photos, Ellen is seen in the cemetary scenes with Bobby and Dean.
* Based on photos, there is a strong indication that Sam kills someone, possibly beheading them.
* Kripke has said that he wants to wrap up the YED storyline this season. My guess is that Dean (since he's seen with the Colt) is going to kill the YED.
* Kripke has also said that this season would not end with a cliffhanger.
* I think one of the biggest wildcards of this finale will be Dean. Kripke has hinted that we're about to learn more about Dean's place in the show's mythology. Does he have abilities like Sam does? Will he be the one to kill the YED at last? Will he end up trading his soul like John did, just to save Sammy? Will Dean be the one to turn evil?
So there you have it. As I said, I'm always wrong with my speculations, but I can't seem to help thinking of them. The only thing I know for certain is that this season finale will be as difficult to watch, or more so, than Devil's Trap was last season. I'm preparing myself for a highly emotional 2 hours. Angst-fest! I can't wait! Bring on Thursday!
