Since I'm treating this as my "catch-up" day, I thought I'd do this meme at long last.

Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

I'll try my best to give people 5 things of their own to write about, but I make no guarantees.

[livejournal.com profile] trystan830 gave me these:
1-jensen
2-supernatural
3-script supervisor
4-livejournal
5-screencapping

1 - Jensen
What can I say? Based on looks alone he's God's gift to women. Every physical part of him looks perfect, right down to those cute freckles. He's built and muscular, but not too much. His eyes are as green as emeralds and he uses them exquisitely to express so many emotions. I could go on and on, but I'm not that shallow. (Am I?) Since I've never met the guy (yet!) I can only go by interviews and fan videos, but the guy seems to be a genuine gentleman. There's his great sense of humor, his ability to tell a story, and his dedication to his craft. As for his incredible acting talent, I said everything in my Tribute Post To Jensen. It's all there and I gush about his acting every week, so there's really no point in going into it more here. I love how absolutely geeky he is over the filmmaking process. A guy after my own heart! I hope he one day gets to direct. I'm sure he'd be great at it.

2 - Supernatural
I've never been this obsessed about a TV show in my life. I've had a lot of favorite TV shows over the years and many have taken over my life for a brief period of time, but I've never been this emerssed in a show before. I feel like I know the show backwards and forwards - every episode. There's no detail too small, no tidbit or item of trivia too tiny to notice. I love the show, every fragment of it. The actors, the characters, the crew, the set design, the locations, the music, the cinematography & lighting, the costumes, the audio, the props, etc. I do tend to over-analyse the show from time to time, but I know I'm not alone in this problem and I have been known to catch and stop myself at times. I also recognize that it's just a TV show and try not to take it too seriously. It is fiction after all, and not a blueprint for life. I know I'm going to be heartbroken when the series ends next season....I always get that way over my favorite shows. It'll be hard to say goodbye to characters that have been such a presence in my life for so long. Logically, I understand that when the well runs dry it's time to say this is the end, but my fangirly heart is going to break without Sam & Dean on my TV every Thursday night. *wibbles*

3 - Script Supervisor
It's a job I love, but I never would have guessed that when I first did it working on my first student film in 2005. I'd done my research, but I really had no idea what all a SS did until I started doing it myself. Nothing can really prepare you though. It's a HUGE job. And on my first film I did it all - keeping track of continuity for props, makeup, hair, light placement, camera placement, as well as keeping the actors on the script. I timed every shot with a stopwatch and took lots of pictures which I had to print out every night. I was one of the first on the set and one of the last to leave. I had one moment of self-doubt during that first film. I think it was on the first day. Suddenly everything, all of it felt so overwhelming. I couldn't do it. I couldn't keep up with it all. I wanted to cry....so badly. But there I was on a set full of guys. I couldn't do it. I couldn't lose control. I had to buck up and carry on. Then I was called into the room we were filming in. I pulled myself together quickly and I was fine after that. Looking back on it now, it was like that moment in Lost when Jack tells Kate about allowing himself 5 seconds to be afraid. That was my 5 seconds of fear. I still love the job, more than ever. It's a huge responsibility, but I keep learning every time I do it and I hope I'm getting better. I love being on the set, working, being with the people, being part of a team, being around the camera and the equipment. It's my home away from home. :)

4 - Livejournal
I'll have been here 3 years in June. Hard to believe it's been that long. I've learned a lot and I truly feel at home here in this corner of the web. I started on LJ because I was looking for a place to squee with others over SPN. I needed to share my thoughts with others and read about what they thought about this show. I was also in mourning over the death of my dad from the month before. My life had been radically altered and I was no longer the person I'd been before. I was a wreck (though I didn't know it then) and I was looking for new avenues, new paths in my life. I never could have imagined joining an online community like this before my dad's death. I wasn't that kind of person then. I guess after that loss I needed to reach out, find new people to interact with. LJ (and SPN) became my haven in the darkness in was in. Once I started making friends, I never looked back. I was hooked. I'm grateful for the friends I've made here and I hope to continue to make more.

5 - Screencapping
I'm a very visual person, and once I found out about screencapping, it seemed like a perfect fit. When I first got involved with SPN and LJ I found people who made caps from the episodes, but most of them were really dark, or too small, not sharp....none of them really what I would want a screencap from the show to be. There was one exception....[livejournal.com profile] justfreefallin. Her caps were beautiful and I quickly became one of her many fans. But I found myself wanting to contribute to the fandom, not just be a passive observer. So I thought I'd try my hand at capping episodes, taking my cues from my new mentor's skills. It took time and a lot of experimenting and searching for the right media players and image editors. I capped and capped and tried so many different settings to get the right look that I wanted. It was a monumental task, but I eventually found what I wanted. I've made modifications and improvements, but I still cap every episode completely by hand and then fix the caps most often with IrfanView's batch processing feature. And to think I used to fix every cap individually, too! Yikes. I try to get all the special moments - the obvious ones and the not so obvious ones. It takes a lot of work, but the results are so satisfying. I believe in having good looking caps with good lighting, color, and sharpness over size.
