New Photos Taken With My New Camera!

April 3rd I finally got my new DSLR camera. It's a Canon EOS 50D. What a thrill! Such promise and possibilities along with the hopes of using this powerhouse of a camera in future film jobs as well as the Vancouver Con in August! With only 2 weeks to check it all out before reaching Best Buy's return policy date, I knew I needed to get busy taking a bunch of photos. Luckily, we had a stretch of good weather early last week.
These are just selected photos from the first 3 days. I'll post the photos from last Tuesday tomorrow. :)
These are totally untouched and unfixed. They're exactly as they came out of the camera. I only resized them because they were huge.
April 4th was just spent reading the 200 page manual and trying to figure out all the settings. My goodness but this thing is complicated! And heavy! It's a beast compared to my little point & shoot Kodak digital camera. But for the amazing photos it gives me, I'm willing to adjust. :)
Here's a close-up I took of some new pens on my pink 3-ring notebook.

Another close-up of my movie poster calender on the wall of my room. I took this sitting in my chair, about five feet away. That's Constance Bennett in a poster for "Moulin Rouge".

A nice shot of the Trilliums near our front door. They turn purple as the blooms age and wither away.

The first blossoms opening on our tree out front. I hope there's still enough of them after our current stormy weather to take some shots of the tree in full bloom.

On Monday, April 6th, Mom & I went to Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. There wasn't too much blooming in the gardens this early in the season, but there were a lot of Daffodils to photograph. This shot is still one of my favorites. :)

A beautiful Hyacinth bloom! They smelled great! Aaaahhhhh....

More Daffodils! I love how these are backlit.

Daffodils as far as the eye can see!

Another favorite. I love these two color ones.

I found this one Rhododendron blooming early (usually they're more late April/early May blooming plants).

A close-up of a Forsythia bloom. My mom likes this shot. :)

Close-up of an Azalea.

This is a nice one, with the tree trunk in the shot.

Looking straight up into a canopy of tree blossoms. The blue sky is so pretty mixed with the flowers!

I believe these are Camelias.

I think this is some kind of Jasmine, but I could be wrong. It was on a big trellis over a flowerbed.

There's a nice pond full of ducks at the park. I took a lot of photos there, but this was one of the few that really came out. It was starting to get dark by this time, so my picture-taking opportunities were running out.

We drove around to the south end of the park to view the Narrows Bridge. Actually, as you'll notice, it's 2 bridges. They built a new one a few years ago right along side the old one and use both, with a toll on the new one to help pay for it.

This is looking down the cliff from my vantage point at the bridge. I love how the sun sparkled on the water!

This is the kind of photo my Dad would have taken, with a tree framing the image. I'm so proud of this shot and it looks exactly as it did that moment...late afternoon sun and blue sky.
