Episode 4.19 - “Jump The Shark”
written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin and directed by Phil Sgriccia
Official Description from The CW:
A 19-year-old boy named Adam (guest star Jake Abel) calls Sam and Dean looking for John Winchester, claiming to be his son. Dean and Sam meet Adam, assuming he's a demon trying to lure then into a trap. However, they find out that John was indeed the boy's father and Adam tells them of his "normal" upbringing, which infuriates Dean.

- Adam is a tall, ruggedly handsome 19-year old. He’s a resilient and adaptable former Eagle Scout and honors student who’s alone in the world. He wants to genuinely help in a crisis.
- The boys try to help a young man named Adam who has made an unexpected turn in life…He turns into a brain-eating zombie, a blood-sucking vampire or something equally untoward [Kristin, E!online].
- Kate is Adam’s mother who is seen fleeing from an unseen menace. Later, she pleads pitiably for help-but her distress may disguise hidden motives.
- Adam is Sam and Dean’s little brother. John fathered him while on a demon hunt and dropped in on him occasionally every few years. Sam and Dean had no idea. [TV Guide]
- Adam will only appear in one episode and is not expected to be seen again. [Kristin]

Supernatural is doing an ep entitled "Jump the Shark." The boys try to help an upstanding young man named Adam who has made an unexpected and sharp left turn in life. And by sharp left turn, I think they mean he turns into a brain-eating zombie, a blood-sucking vampire or something equally untoward. Source: Kristin on E!Online
MATT at TVGuide: As a matter of fact, I was just chatting with a pal who has spied a cut of the controversial "Jump the Shark" episode, and the word is that those who think they have Sam and Dean all figured out by now will be rather surprised by their individual reactions to the introduction of their "new brother," Adam. Also in that April 23 outing: Only the most eagle-eyed will spy a wink-nudge "tribute" to the late Kim Manners.
There was another spoiler I read a while back (which I can no longer find) that mentioned that the Trickster might be involved in this episode. It would certainly fit in with there suddenly being another son by John Winchester.
My Thoughts:
:: I went from being terribly worried about the mere mention of there being a 3rd Winchester to relaxing and trusting Kripke, which is what I should have done from the get go.
:: I like the Trickster rumor, however, which would explain the whole thing away and since Adam doesn't survive the hour anyway, I'm not worried.
:: The fact that they even leaked out that Adam doesn't survive should tell us something. Since when would they divulge something that big?
:: I love the first DC at the diner. Dean being careful with the gun under the table until he realizes Adam's no threat and then finally speaking out once the car is mentioned (hee!).
:: Looks like Sam gets some torture this eppy. Eeep!
:: As for theories I really don't have any. I hope this is all a hoax by the Trickster only because I believe in there being only 2 Winchesters: Dean and Sam (yes, I know there's John & Mary, but they're no longer living). On the other hand, if the boys get attached to Adam as their brother and something happens to him, how heartbreaking is that going to be, Trickster influenced or not? Will this turn out to be what Chuck saw at the end of 4x18?
