I've abandoned my full-length episode reviews for these shorter, First Impressions posts.

With each of these reviews I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.

Consider these fanart. If you take either of them, please give credit. :)

I'm trying to get this posted as soon after the episode as possible, again by using caps made from my recording of the episode. Hopefully there's still some squee left out there. ;)

Sorry for the delay everyone. RL issues took over and I'm running behind this week. My notes are different this time around. They were done during my 2nd viewing of the episode, so I already knew how it was all going to play out. They're not as rambly and disjointed as they usually are, which is either good or bad depending on how you feel about that.

Note: "==============" signifies a commercial break.

Recap: Castiel, Sam and Ruby, Sam's blood addiction

I knew right away this had to be a dream, just by the setting and coloring. Even the audio doesn't match what it would actually be outside. Very nice.
It was cool seeing Dean so relaxed and fishing though. :)
Who else would be listening inside Dean's head?

That was some fight....the place is a mess.
Anna's symbol on the wall....
They find Castiel, except it's not him, it's Jimmy, his vessel. Love how there's an immediate distinction between the two just through Misha using his normal speaking voice. :)

LOL Man, is Jimmy hungry! I think Dean's jealous. :P
He doesn't remember much of being possessed, except being tied to an angel is like riding a comet. Whoah.
He doesn't know what Castiel wanted to tell them.
His name is Jimmy Novak and he has a family. Guess he was pretty devout as Cas said.
Owie...the whole TV/angel convulsions looks painful.

Dean wants to send the guy home, Sam thinks Jimmy might really know something.
He brings up that the demons probably will be after Jimmy, too. Pretty good bet.

Naturally, Jimmy doesn't like the idea of not being able to go home to his family, but Sam insists he needs to stay with them.

The boys are sleeping....except for Sam. Awww....Jimmy has the one bed and the boys are using the other. And you can tell because Dean's sleeping on top of the covers. ;)
Sam goes outside and Jimmy sneaks out.
Oh, Sammy....more demon blood. This is not good at all.

==============================

Dean's amused that Jimmy got away, and brushing his teeth. Hee!
Sam is a tad agitated....hmmm...wonder why?
Tells Dean he was out getting a Coke. Yeah, you could call it that....
“Was it a refreshing Coke?” LOL!

Jimmy's on a bus home. Flashbacks about him hearing from Castiel.
The bit of him putting his hand in boiling water was cool.

Anna! Loved how she surprised them and made Dean swerve. LOL!
“You look terrific.” Hee! Dean missed his girlfriend. ;)
Even Anna knows something's different about Sam...Ooooh.
Cas was dragged back to Heaven, which is a very bad thing.

Jimmy arrives at his home.
More flashbacks: His wife thinks he needs help. Jimmy's been told he's special, being called for a higher purpose. She threatens to take their daughter and leave. Jimmy goes outside and offers himself up to Castiel if his family is protected. The white light and everything was very cool.
“I am not your father.” Ouch. Poor girl.
Understandably, his wife is shocked to see him. They thought he was dead.
She won't let their daughter see him.
He says he was in a psych ward, delusional, and thought God was calling to him. But he's better now. He wants to be back with his family.

Sam's calling Ruby while Dean fills up the tank. A little desperate there Sammy?

Jimmy gets to have a meal with is wife and daughter.
Heh...he won't say Grace now. Awww....he's crying because he's happy.
Neighbor Roger pays a visit....except that's not Roger...Eeep! Demon!!!!
Oooh, whacking him with a wine bottle. Good!

================================

Love how he knows all about the salt for protection. Claire gets away...and right into the demon's clutches.
Ouch! Roger's wife is a demon too. The boys show up right on time. Dean takes out Roger and Sam tries to pull the wife, but he “can't get it up”. LOL
Dean comes in,but the demon escapes.
They all get away in the Impala.

Jimmy repeats that he doesn't know anything. The boys remind him that the demons will keep coming. Sam puts it all very bluntly. He has to leave his family....forever.
Nice scene with Jimmy saying goodbye to Amelia...even using Sam's line of “We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
My first thought? Hope she doesn't get caught driving a stolen vehicle. Hee!
The guys leave.
Amelia is demon posssessed! Yikes! That slap was a bit harsh. Ouch! Poor Claire.

Time for a chat between the boys in the car...
Dean's worried about Sam nearly fainting while trying to take out a demon. He's worried about Sam's powers yo-yoing.
Dean: “I'm not trying to pick a fight here. Okay? I just...you're scaring me man.”
Sam: “I'm scaring myself.”
Well, that's not going to instill any confidence there, Sam.
Sam's phone rings and it's Amelia....but it's really the demon. Uh oh.

================================

Jimmy heads in alone...and Dean has a plan....hmmmm.
Jimmy makes an empassioned plea to Castiel for help. Even he called him Cas. Hee!
He gets no answer and goes to meet the demon.
Heh...the boys are “Heckle & Jeckle”....and are now captives of the demons.
Oooh, she acts like she's going to shoot Sam, and turns to fire at Jimmy instead. Yikes!
Now they're going to kill Claire!
Except that's not Claire....it's Castiel!!!!
The boys are taking out the demons....and Sam needs a little demon blood pick-me-up....oh, no. And now Dean knows....oh boys!
That was kinda freaky when he put his had out towards Dean and Dean flinched. But it was to pull the demon from Amelia.
Awww....Jimmy pleads with Cas to take him instead of Claire.
Cas is back! And with a whole lot of attitude.
“I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean. I serve Heaven, I don't serve man. And I certainly don't serve you.” OUCH!

================================

Here we go....moment of truth time.
Sam expects some reaction from Dean, but Dean's not mad. He doesn't care about explanations or excuses. He's tired, done.
Phone call from Bobby....wants them there right away.
Sam goes into the Panic Room....and they close him inside. Oooooh....

Okay, let's get this out of the way right now. Was there too much of Castiel in this eppy and not enough of the boys? Yes...but I'm okay with that. It still worked. I still kinda question what the point of all this was though. We have no idea what Castiel was going to tell Dean which was basically the whole point of the episode. And once he returns he's got a very frigid attitude towards Dean. Yikes. Guess Cas got worked over by the boss pretty good when he got dragged back to Heaven. I'm also not entirely sure what Anna's real purpose in the episode was, other than to tell the boys that Cas being taken to Heaven was a "very bad thing". Oooooh.... I'm happy to see Anna and I like her, but she just felt a little plunked into the eppy for nothing IMO. Loved the whole car-swerving reaction to her suddenly appearing though. :)

Meanwhile, it was great to see Dean learn about Sam's blood addiction. Here I thought he'd find out by word of mouth and it was nothing like that at all. Sam gave himself away. I also love how swiftly Dean put a plan into action with Bobby at the end. Was he anticipating this all along?

I can't wait for next week! It's going to be exciting and heartbreaking and aaarrrggghhhh!!!! *loves show* :D
