I almost forgot to post about this today, but in all the excitement and getting ready for VanCon, I know he would understand....
Today would have been my dad's 71st birthday.
I've had a feeling my dad's been guiding me on the path to this convention. He almost always approved of any cool events I wanted to go to and we went to our fair share of concerts and horse shows over the years as I was growing up. He sort of spoiled me and I know he would've approved of this trip. I've looked at every good thing that's happened in getting to VanCon as being from his guiding hand in some way. In light of everything that could have gone wrong, our only stumbling block were those darned cell phones. Instead of the constant lifeline we would have had, we'll only be communicating one way and at limited times. Maybe he's teaching my mom to loosen her protective hold on me a bit. :P
I miss you Daddy, but I'm spreading my wings and learning to fly farther on my own. I know you're watching over me.
