VanCon: We have arrived!!!
Aug. 27th, 2009 09:18 pmWe're heeeerrrreeeee!!!!!!! *bounces* :D
And yes, there be WiFi here in our hotel room. Awesomeness. Been a long day, so I'll just hit the highlights.
Left 2 hours later than planned, but really had no traffic issues until we reached the Canadian border. We ate lunch, filled up the car & ended up using a different border crossing than we planned, but we still managed to get to the highway we wanted to be on (99). Traffic bogged down approaching a tunnel to get to LuLu Island, but after that it was fairly smooth sailing. The weather was sunny and warm. :)
We got to the hotel (Best Western Downtown on Drake St.) and had some problems trying to figure out where to park the car because a big group of bikers were also just checking in. But it all worked out in the end, we got to our room (which is clean & very nice!), and I worked on getting all our stuff up to the room. Ugh. We settled in, watched a little TV, and enjoyed the lovely view of Granville Bridge from our 7th story room. After a bit, I went up to their rooftop area to check out the view.
I snapped some pics...(btw, that last one is for
bloggingchick. ;)
We ate at the White Spot restaurant here on the lobby floor of the hotel for supper. Mom & I both had their Turkey Dinner (yum!) & she got a dessert. We then both went up to the rooftop to check out the city lights in the growing darkness. So pretty to see them in person instead of through a webcam image! I'm here!!!!! I'm really here!!!!!!!! :D
Now I'm watching the rerun of "The Rapture" while I type this out. *glee*
However, I've got a bit of a headache (not enough sleep the other night), so I'll probably turn in soon. First big day of the con tomorrow!!!!! Woot!
