A new season and a new set of episode reviews. Enjoy!

With each of these reviews I'll include 2 cropped caps from the episode. One of Dean and one of Sam. I decided to do something different and make them b&w.

Consider these fanart. If you take either of them, please give credit. :)

I'm trying to get this posted as soon after the episode as possible, again by using caps made from my recording of the episode. Hopefully there's still some squee left out there. ;)

These notes were made during my 2nd viewing of the episode. I just wanted to sit and absorb everything from the episode in the initial viewing.

Note: "==============" signifies a commercial break.

Recap: Sam starting the Apocalypse, working as a team.

Okay, who keeps a hairbrush on top of their TV? Weird.
Heh, she's the babysitter. Is she watching Cujo?
Love how she's sitting close enough to probably hit the controls on the set itself, yet uses the remote. *snort*
Ewww.....bloody fingers....that's not good. Ooops, the babysitter's dead. Heh.

“Agents Page & Plant, FBI” *giggles* But I'm swooning over the way Jensen said that line, too. *swoons*
Yikes! Those are some big wounds....”she scratched her brains out”.
Phantom itch....heehee....boys! Heh, Jensen's hurt finger is still dark.
Always love it when Dean talks to kids. Hard to imagine Dean ever having a babysitter.
He knows this kid's lying. “We gonna start talking truth or are you and me gonna have to have a little talk downtown?” Hee!
Itching powder strikes again!

A new victim....electrocuted.
Whoah....zapped with a joy buzzer.

*giggles* Boys with toys! Love it! “Hit it Mr. Wizard” LOL
Wow! Cooked ham anyone? “That'll do pig.” Heehee!
And of course, Dean's gonna eat the ham now.
They suspect a witch is in town...

Love Dean's glee over a whoopee cushion. *g*
All today's kids care about are their iPhones and those “kissing vampire movies”. *gigglesnort*
Eeek! That poor rubber chicken never had a chance.
So the witch theory is out. Heh.

LOL! This little girl is cute. No tooth fairies for her!
She puts that tooth under daddy's pillow. Oh, man....that's one ugly tooth fairy!
OMG!

======================

Hee! Dean...always flirting with the nurses. :P
Dean: “Well I will see your crazy and raise you some.”
“His face froze that way.” LMAO Oh, Jensen! Priceless!
Sam: “So, I mean if you add all that up....I got nothin'.”
Hee! I remember the old Sea Monkey ads too. :)
Dean's figured out these are all lies kids believe, coming to life.

Dean's still eating that ham.
Sam: “Dude, seriously? Still with the ham?”
Dean: “We don't have a fridge.”
Heehee!
Sam's tracked down where all the attacks were and a farmhouse in the middle of it all.
Dean asks if their motel is in the circle...Ewww....hairy palm!
“I got bored. That nurse was hot.” OMG!

Love the lighting as they drive up to the house....pretty!
Hee! This kid is cute! He's pretty suspicious of the boys, too. Heh.
Jesse drew the tooth fairy....hmmm.
He knows all the beliefs about what's been going on.
Dean tells him the truth about the joy buzzer....then tests it on Sam. LOL! Sammy is not amused.

=======================

Sam: “Dude. What the hell?”
Dean: “I had a hunch, I went with it.”
Sam: “You risked my ass on a hunch?”
Dean: “You're fine. Besides now we know who's turning this town into Willie Wonka's worst nightmare.”
Heehee!
Now, how is Jesse doing all this...

Sam's done his research geekboy-fu and found out Jesse was adopted, no father listed, and he knows where his biological mom is.

Heh. Julia's just as suspicious as her son is.....
Ooop. She runs and then throws salt at them, thinking they're demons.
She tells her story....she was possessed for 9 months, had to watch as the demon killed, picked up all the tricks, gave birth, drove the demon out with salt, and put the baby up for adoption.
Dean says they need help....

Castiel!!!! He's waiting for them at the motel....he says Jesse needs to be killed.
Jesse is the Anti-Christ.
Okay, the whoopee cushion joke is funny, but it's so jarring in this scene. The eppy has morphed from light and funny, to dark and serious.....why put this in here?
Anyway, Castiel tells them the Anti-Christ is not Lucifer's child, only demon spawn. With Jesse's powers he can't be tracked by demons or angels, but eventually the demons will find him and bend him to their will....”And then, with a word, this child will destroy the host of heaven.”
Sam: “We're the good guys. We don't just kill children.”
Castiel: “A year ago, you would've done whatever it took to win this war.”
Sam: “Things change.”

Oooh...Sam vs Castiel showdown.
Dean suggest they take Jesse to Bobby to protect him. Cas says that won't work. There's no way to contain him.
Sam wants to tell Jesse the truth, give him a chance to make the right choices.
Castiel: “You didn't...and I can't take that chance.” Ouch! And he disappears.

Uh oh, Jesse's mom is getting confronted by her old demon friend.
He possesses her again.

Jesse meets Castiel....”Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you.” Riiiiiggghhht.
You're sorry? Oh, Cas.....
Boys to the rescue! Where's Cas? Heh....he's a little action figure now. :P

=======================

Jesse's wondering how he did that. Dean weaves this whole story of Jesse being a super hero. Oh, boy. Wants to take him to “A hidden base in South Dakota where you'll be trained to fight evil.” LOL
MommyDemon arrives. Uh oh. Boys on the wall time again. Heh. She won't hurt Sam because of orders, but Dean.....oh, dear.....
Dean gets up close and personal with a couple walls.
She lays the whole truth out for Jesse, how everyone's been lying to him....gets him angry.....uh oh.
Sam tries to tell him the truth and the demon stops him, but Jesse lets him go.
Sam tells him who they are, that they're hunters, Julia is his mom, but she's possessed by a demon.
Heh....Jesse takes care of her - shuts her up good.
Sam says Jesse can go with her, but if he does millions of people will die.
Sam: “You can do the right thing. You've got choices, Jesse, but if you make the wrong ones, it'll haunt you for the rest of your life.”
Jesse: “Why are you telling me this?”
Sam: “Because I have to believe someone can make the right choice. Even if I couldn't.”

Oh, Sam.
He drives the demon from Julia's body and releases Dean. Yay!!!!
“Kid. You're awesome.”

=======================

Dean tries to convince Jesse to put Cas back....doesn't really work though.
Dean still wants to take Jesse to Bobby's, get him ready to fight, but he doesn't want to fight. Poor kid.
He wants to take his parents with him, but it's not safe for them either.
Dean: “Once you're in this fight you're in it to the end. Win or lose.”
Looks like Jesse agrees to go with them, but he wants to say goodbye to his folks first. Hmmm.....not sure I'd leave him alone guys....
He looks in on mom & dad....then goes to his room....Australia.....heh.
Yep, boys....he's gone. Castiel is back to normal along with everyone else in town.
He did leave a note though....he left to keep his parents safe. Cas says there's no way to find Jesse unless he wants to be found.

Boys in the car.....
Dean understands why parents lie to their kids....to make them believe the world is safe. He wishes John had lied to them and Sam agrees.

Okay, I liked this episode. Didn't really love, love, love it, but it was still very good.

I liked the humor, which definitely worked, except for the whole Cas/Whoopee Cushion joke, which, while funny, totally broke up the seriousness of that scene. We'd moved on IMO. The jokes were over and that bit was too jarring. That's my two cents, anyway.

Cool to see one of the Carradine clan on this show, in this case Ever Carradine (Julia), Robert's daughter. :)

Um...I really don't have much to say about this episode. You could still see Jensen's hurt finger (though in a couple of scenes I could see him trying to hide it). Jensen mentioned at VanCon about just filming a scene where he ate a bunch of ham sandwiches....now we know why. ;)

Anyway, it was nice to see the boys really working together as a team again. Overall, the episode felt kind of low-key compared to the others this season, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The ending was very quiet, with the boys reflecting on how their lives might have been without the harsh truth of reality. I like how Sam felt a connection with Jesse, with them both being pawns to the dark side, but that choices can be made. On the other hand, Cas was kind of brutal. He wasn't willing to find another solution. Just wanted to kill the kid outright. Time will tell if that would've been the right decision. I wonder if we'll see Jesse again down the road? He would be a huge ally....question is...to whom?

I was all excited about next week. Then I remembered we've got a rerun before the show returns on Oct. 29th. Bummer. :(
