Of trees & scriptwriting

I'm going to try and keep this short, but I just had to share this.
A bit of background first...there's this humongous bush/tree that is just on the other side of our fence in the backyard and on our neighbor's property. The thing's been there for years and while we've pruned it several times in the past as it encroached over into our yard, it's recently gotten out of hand. So much so, that I told my mom I could almost hear the thing growling at me and soon it would be entering my bedroom window. LOL It's also completely covering our garden shed and starting to break the fence. So mom called the neighbor this afternoon and they talked it all out and she happily agreed to get rid of it. Said she'd get in touch with a tree guy she's used before. So hours later she and said tree guy come knocking on our door to check out the monster. I stayed inside while mom showed them the beast. They left and she came and told me he was going to come tomorrow morning to cut the thing down.
Now, here's the kicker....She tells me this guy's name is Don and that he mentioned that he's writing a movie script! In fact, he wrote one that might end up going to the Sundance Film Festival! *squee* Apparently it'll be accepted if he writes another script and that's what he's working on now. So I'm suddenly thinking,"Wow! A fellow scriptwriter!"
I think I'll have to mosey outside tomorrow and try and have a chat with Don, writer to writer. *g* :)
And since we're talking about filmmaking...I've been sort of encouraged by
trystan830 (and some of the rest of you) to share my student filmmaking experiences. So look for several posts to be appearing on that subject soon.
