I'm changing the way I do my episode reviews, trying to condense things down into something shorter. I hope it's easier for people to read and easier for me to do.

I won't be covering every scene anymore, just hitting the highlights (or trying to). A few small caps will be included and I'll post a link to a more thorough review if you want more information.

If you want a full review, check out this one at Zap2it.com and take in all the other tidbits over Super Wiki's post.

That must have been one massive horde of demons to send the boys running like that and wounded and bloody to boot! Yikes!

Pretty sure that shot of the car skidding onto the road was from S1's Devil's Trap.

Spraying Holy Water from a truck is a pretty cool idea. Love the wide, low camera angle shot, too. ;)

"I hate to tell you this, but those were demons and this is the Apocalypse. So...buckle up."

It's cool seeing Michael Shanks, but I gotta admit I was hoping he'd have more lines. Some have wondered why he wasn't given the part of the preacher and I'm curious about that too. Still, nice to see him on my TV again after Stargate.

Considering the late Pastor Jim was from Blue Earth, MN I wonder why the boys are so surprised to see an armed Priest, especially in a town full of hunters.

Dean: "A whole town full of hunters? I don't know whether to run, scream, or buy a condo." LOL

Dean hitting on the prophet Preacher's daughter. Hee! Dean might be losing hope, but some things never change.

Cas's voice mail. LOL! Too funny.

Sam's concerned about the people in the town being manipulated by angels, but Dean figures everyone's going to die in a month or two anyway. Oh, Dean....you've given up on everything, haven't you? :(

LOVE the attack on the demon-infested house! Whoo-hoo! \0/ Sam with the knife, Dean with the shotgun and action all around. Is it just me or is the Enochian exorcism that they use different words each time? Strange. You'd think it would be the same. Great seeing the boys work together like that, with Sam using the knife to kill one demon and Dean taking it to kill another. Awesome stuff! Feels like old times.

Do I even wanna know what was in all those bags Sam ended on top of? Yikes.

Hee! Love the toast w/the beer cans too. Nice. :)

Poor kid getting attacked by the demon under the car. Like Dean needs more guilt. And it's really not his fault, despite Jane's accusation. He was a hunter and death can come at any time.

According to Leah, the town's been chosen. They follow the angel's commandments and they'll all be reunited with their loved ones on Judgment Day. A rosy picture, but I'm not quite buying it.

Sam: "No drinking, no gambling, no premarital sex. Dean, they basically just outlawed 90% of your personality."

Dean's really okay with it all. Yeah, this is not our normal Dean. He goes to talk w/Leah and see what she really knows. She says he's chosen, but he counters that he's really cursed.

Hee! Drunken Sammy. Love Dean calling him a rebel. *g* Sam does the rundown of how the whole down's been cut off from the outside world and Dean is unconcerned. Sam doesn't want Dean to give up because he's the only thing keeping him going. Oh, boys!

Oh yeah, here we go....kill all the bad people in town who aren't following the rules or else we don't get to go to paradise. Peachy.

It's instant Castiel! Hee! And he's drunker than a skunk. LOL "I found a liquor store...and I drank it!" *giggles* I like drunken Cas! He tells Sam that Leah is not a prophet. Uh oh...

Paul, the bartender is "going against the flock" and Jane shoots him. We've just escalated into crazy-town!

Dean: "Where the hell have you been?"
Castiel: "On a bender!"
Dean: "Did you say on a bender?"
Sam: "Yeah, he's still pretty smashed..."
Castiel: "It is not of import."

LOL! And I love how Cas's voice is way lower and more gravelly than it normally is. LMAO! Cas outlines that Leah is the Whore of Babylon and she's controlling the demons attacking the town and the Enochian exorcism is fake. She's out to condemn as many souls as possible to hell. Lovely.

Okay, where did Cas get the stake made from a cypress tree in Babylon? He just poofed over there and got one at the local mini-mart? I know, I know...plot hole. *grabs the duct tape* "Leah" can only be killed by "a true servant of heaven", which leaves out Cas, Dean, and the "abomination" that is Sam. Ouch! Poor Sammy.

Cas sneaks up on the preacher with, "I'm an angel of the Lord." Said with a lot less enthusiasm than the first time we heard Cas say it. Heh. Poor Cas is hung over and Dean gives him some aspirin, suggesting he down the whole bottle. Nice little scene of him sympathizing with the angel over their dead-beat dads.

Leah's got Jane and her husband convinced they've gotta burn the people in the storage room. This is not good. Cool little effect seeing her true face in the mirror. She really did some damage to poor Cas, just by spouting some Enochian. That's not cool!

I'll admit, I kinda knew the preacher was not going to be be the one to kill the Whore. I knew it would be Dean. Just a feeling I had. Naturally she has to attack Dean verbally while she tries to strangle him. "This is why my team’s gonna win. You’re the great vessel? You’re pathetic, self-hating, and faithless. It’s the end of the world. And you’re just gonna sit back and watch it happen." In typical Dean fashion he assures her he's not that weak and stabs her with the cypress stake. Nice effects on that too. Poor Jane, she thought she was going to paradise, but Dean is pretty sure she's headed in the other direction.

The 4 leave the church and Sam wonders how Dean was able to kill Leah. Dean chalks it up to luck and that he saw an opportunity and took it. Sam's worried that Dean's going to do something stupid and say yes to Michael (and for good reason). Cas is recovering and Sam's patching up the preacher. Oh, Dean...what are you doing???? He takes off in the car leaving Sam behind. OMG

I totally didn't imagine Dean going to find Lisa and Ben after all this time, but you know...it works. I know a lot of fans thought it was totally out of character or whatever, but it does work. Yeah, she might have been a quick fling over a weekend years ago, but she also represents what Dean cares about most...family.

Dean: "Look, I have no illusions, okay? I know the life that I live, I know how that’s gonna end for me. Whatever. I’m okay with that. But I wanted you to know…that when I do picture myself happy…it’s with you. And the kid."

Whether or not Ben is Dean's kid (and I'm one who believes he is), I think it makes sense that Dean's been carrying around this perfect future in his head of having his own family, of not having to hunt anymore or worry about Sam. This is why he pictured Lisa in his dreamscape in DALDOM. Now, he wants to protect her and Ben from what's coming. Sounds like he's ready to make the deal with Michael, but not unless they agree with his conditions. Not sure it works that way, after all we're talking about angels here, but I love Dean for thinking that way, for having that bit of hope that he can control it that far. Btw, I do think the conditions Dean would want met would also include Sam and I'm sure, Bobby. It's a bittersweet goodbye with Lisa and I'm dying to know what he whispered in her ear! The sad music as he walks to the car really punctuates the scene.

Two thumbs up! Can't wait for the 100th eppy! Bring it! :D

So, what do you think of this type of review? Like it? Love it? I'd love your input! :D
