I'm changing the way I do my episode reviews, trying to condense things down into something shorter. I hope it's easier for people to read and easier for me to do.

I won't be covering every scene anymore, just hitting the highlights (or trying to). A few small caps will be included and I'll post a link to a more thorough review if you want more information.

If you want a full review, check out this one at Moogi.com and take in all the other tidbits over Super Wiki's post.

Pestilence at last! It's been a loooong time since I've seen Matt Frewer and he's great in this part. "The petri dish being...you." Lovely green puke...nice. Not.

Uh, oh. Dean knows about Sam's plan and he's not happy about it. Love the finger point and the "This isn't over." Big brother Dean has spoken! Hee!

OMG It's Cas! Whoo-hoo! Problem is he's feeling all his wounds, hunger, not to mention an annoying bug bite. In other words....he's human. Gotta love his apology to Dean and Dean's reaction. LOL

The boys are off to hunt down Pestilence and get inside the security room at the convalescent home. Dean with the improv...and the sleeping. Heehee! I kinda love how he lets Sam do all the monitoring.

Sam: "What are we even looking for."
Dean: "Well he's Pestilence so he probably looks sick."
Sam: "Everybody looks sick."

They spot him and we're back to the opening teaser scene with Pestilence and his favorite patient. The horseman's demon helper spots the boys and reports to the boss, not too keen on sticking around with the deadly Winchesters. Pestilence is all set on revenge though....and so he kicks up the deadly disease factor in the place and it gets mighty ugly. Ewwww.

Love the boys sneaking around the hallways, btw. Missed that. :D

Soon enough they're both coughing and gasping, with Sam helping Dean out when he has to stop. Awww. Dean ends up on the floor, hacking his lungs out and Sam comes face to face with Pestilence and does a nice a faceplant.

Oh, the boys aren't looking well at all. :(

He's given them a cocktail of scarlet fever, meningitis and syphilis. Lovely. They're hacking away and he's monologuing about the purity of disease and how messy and weak humanity is. Dean tries to reach the knife and Pestilence crushes his fingers with his shoe. Owie!

Cas!!!! He took a bus, but he's hit with the whammy by Pestilence too. He points out there isn't a speck of angel in Cas, but he manages to slice off the horseman's ring finger anyway (awesome that we got to see it in all that gory detail, too!).

Cas stabs the demon nurse and the boys recover nicely. Pestilence takes off but not without warning that it's too late. Hmmm...

Bobby tells the boys about Chicago's impending doom and that it's where Death is gonna be. Love Cas's line: "I don't understand your definition of good news." LOL Dean has really rubbed off on him. Bobby admits he had help in gaining this knowledge...and there's Crowley.

Bobby: The world's gonna end. Seems stupid to get all precious over one little soul.
Dean: You sold your soul?
Crowley: More like pawned it. I fully intend to give it back.
Dean: Well then give it back!
Crowley: I will.
Dean: Now!
Sam: Did you kiss him?
Dean: Sam!
Sam: Just wondering.
Bobby: [awkward silence] No!

Crowley: [coughs, shows photo of him and Bobby kissing on his iPhone]

Bobby: Why'd you take a picture?
Crowley: Why'd you have to use tongue?

OMG LOL! The looks that the boys give Bobby...priceless!

Crowley is keeping Bobby's soul for insurance. Heh. He is a demon, boys.

Sam: (heavy sigh)
Dean: Lemme guess, we're about to have a talk.

Heehee!

Sam admits he's screwed up and he thinks he's too weak to take on Lucifer. He says he's the least of any of them (awww, Sammy, no), but he's also all they have.

Crowley then interrupts and gives them the info. about the swine flu outbreak being the first step, with the second step being the vaccine aka Croatoan Virus with simultaneous countrywide distribution. "So you boys better stock up on... well, everything. This time next Thursday, we'll all be living in Zombieland."

Oh, man! Love the sequence with Death driving up and arriving in Chicago. Awesome with the "O Death" song and the slo-mo. Sweet! The literal brush with Death.

Poor Cas bemoaning his lack of powers. Yeah, Bobby is not interested in your bitching. Hee! "Quit pining for the varsity years and load the damn truck!"

Aw, the goodbye scene as Dean goes off to kill Death and Sam, Bobby & Cas go off to stop the zombie apocalypse.

Sam: "Remember when we used to just hunt Wendigos? How simple things were?"
Dean: "Not really."

Sam's about to hand Dean the demon knife, but Crowley gives him Death's scythe instead, which can pretty much kill everything. When Cas asks where he got it, Crowley answers with "Hello? King of the Crossroads" Heehee! He then wonders why Bobby isn't walking around. Turns out he added a little clause to Bobby's deal and soon the old hunter is standing up! Yay! Bobby! :D Love the smiles between him and boys. Awww...but one has to wonder what is up Crowley's sleeve with all this.

Cas thinks Sam's plan with Lucifer is interesting, but he's not really against it because he and Dean continue to defy his expectations. We get confirmation that Michael has taken Adam as his vessel. Cas also informs Sam that to take in Lucifer Sam will have to drink more demon blood than he ever has before. It keeps the vessel from exploding. Oh, that can't be good.

They scope out the warehouse full of Croatoan virus when Cas notices a truck already leaving. Time to switch plans. Problem is, the demons notice and unleash a little virus on the people inside the building. It's Zombie Massacre Time! Whoo-hoo!!!! Sam goes off to help more people before they get killed or turned and leaves Bobby with the knife.

In Chicago, which looks mighty cold & windy, Dean & Crowley close in on a building which is supposed to house Death, there's even Reapers all around the place. Crowley goes ahead to check things out...

Crowley: Boy is my face red. Death's not in there.
Dean: You wanna cut the cute and get to the part where you tell me where he is.
Crowley: Sorry. I don't know.
Dean: Whoah, whoah, whoah. Wait a minute. You don't know?
Crowley: Signs pointed...I'm just as shocked as you.
Dean: Bobby sold his soul for this!
Crowley: Relax. All deals are soul back or store credit. We'll catch Death in the next doomed city.
Dean: Millions, Crowley! Millions of people are about to die any minute!
Crowley: True. So I strongly suggest we get out of here.

Love how they did that first part with Crowley disappearing and then reappearing all in one shot! I love that kinda stuff. Mark Sheppard simply walked out of camera range, around to the left and came back around behind Jensen.

Go Sammy! Mr. Hero hot stuff. Heh. Bobby seems to notice, too.

Dean & Crowley go back to the Impala. "So what, call in a bomb threat, a thousand bomb threats? I mean, how the hell am I supposed to get three million people out of Chicago in the next ten minutes?" Crowley then takes off and finds Death....in a Pizzeria. Heh. Of course. *g*

Oh, dear...Sam's getting strangled. Luckily, Cas comes to the rescue with his shotgun.

Castiel: "Actually these things can be useful."
Bobby: "Can we commit our act of domestic terrorism already? Let's go!"

Dean sneaks into the back of the restaurant and there are dead bodies all over the place. The scythe soon gets too hot to hold onto and it winds up on the table next to Death.

He invites Dean to sit down and that the pizza's delicious. This is an awesome scene btw. Oh, the drama and tension! Dean expects to be killed, but that's not going to happen. Death is unimpressed with him.

Death: This is one little planet in one tiny solar system in a galaxy that’s barely out of its diapers. I’m old, Dean. Very old. So I invite you to contemplate how insignificant I find you.

He wants Dean to eat, which he does...hesitantly, but it must be good after all. *g* Dean and his love of food. Heh.

Dean: Well I gotta ask: How old are you?
Death: As old as God. Maybe older. Neither of us can remember anymore. Life, death, chicken, egg – regardless, at the end, I’ll reap Him too.
Dean: God? You’ll reap God?
Death: Oh yes. God will die too, Dean.
Dean: This is way above my pay grade.
Death: Just a bit.

Dean wants to know why he's still there then, what Death wants him to do. Death wants to be untied from Lucifer.

Death: Lucifer has me bound to him, some unseemly little spell. He has me where he wants, when he wants. That's why I couldn't go to you, I had to wait for you to catch up. He made me his weapon. Hurricanes, floods, raising the dead. I'm more powerful than you can process, and I'm enslaved to a bratty child having a tantrum.

Death decides to give Dean the ring, just like that. He agrees to spare Chicago..."I suppose it can stay. I like the pizza." The conditions? Dean has to do whatever it takes to put Lucifer back in his cage...including letting Sam jump into the pit. Oh, no. But Dean agrees reluctantly and Death hands over the ring and then tells Dean what to do with it. Funny how he reminds Dean that he can't cheat Death. Do you know Dean??? He's cheated Death so many times he's turned it into an art form. LOL

Back at Bobby's place, Dean's doing cool tricks with the 4 rings. Looking forward to seeing what they do to open the cage. Bobby walks up. Oh, it's nice typing that. He admits to walking up and down the stairs all night. Dean shows him how the rings come together and that he basically lied to Death's face. Yeah, that can't be good.

Bobby's finally coming around to Sam's crazy plan. He tells Dean of how the kid saved a bunch of people back at the warehouse, never resting or slowing down.

Bobby: We're hard on him Dean. We've always been. But, in the meantime, he's been running into burning buildings since he was what? Twelve?
Dean: Pretty much.
Bobby: Well look, Sam's got a darkness in him. I'm not sayin' he don't. But he's gotta hell of a lot of good in him too.
Dean: I know.
Bobby: Then you know Sam will beat the devil or die tryin'. That's the best we could ask for. So I gotta ask Dean...what exactly are you afraid of? Losing or losing your brother?

Another stellar episode. I know I say that after nearly every episode, but it's true every time. When this show is on....it. is. on. Great to see the whole team together (Dean, Sam, Cas, Bobby). Still not sure whether to trust Crowley. I'm grateful that Bobby's walking again, but no demon does anything out of the goodness of their heart. There's gotta be a catch somewhere and I fear that Bobby's days might be numbered. :(

Pestilence and Death were everything I hoped for, though I thought Pestilence was a little underused after the big 2 episode build-up. The guy playing Death was perfect! That scene between him and Dean had me riveted! I can't believe we're facing the end of another phenomenal season. Where did the time go? Now we find out what will happen as the boys face their destinies at last. Bring it on! :D
