Capped the first episode of SPN's fifth season from the BluRay file over the weekend. Thought I'd share a few notes and comparisons.

Time spent capping the episode: 4 hours (Took a little longer because I was also watching TV. :P)
Original Cap Count: 1,313
Final Cap Count (after sorting & deleting): 999

Original Hi-Res Download 5x01 Cap Count: 777

Here's a comparison between the Hi-Res Download cap (top) to the new BluRay cap (bottom).

This time I'm showing you the fixed & final versions of the caps. I know many of you will like the top, non-BluRay cap better because of the increased color, but really the bottom cap represents the true color of the episode better. You have to remember that most of the time the color on SPN is very muted. It's only for certain episodes (such as "Changing Channels" & most of "It's A Terrible Life") that have more normal intense TV color. I'd also like to point out that the top cap has a bit of a color cast inherent in the HD episode downloads.

Capped the first episode of SPN's fourth season from the BluRay file over the weekend. Thought I'd share a few notes and comparisons.

Time spent capping the episode: 4 1/2 hours (Took a little longer because I was also watching TV. :P)
Original Cap Count: 1,740
Final Cap Count (after sorting & deleting): 1,226

Original Hi-Res Download 4x01 Cap Count: 1,110

Here's a comparison between the Hi-Res Download cap (top) to the new BluRay cap (bottom).

This time I'm showing you the fixed & final versions of the caps. I don't know what it is about this episode...it's always grainy, even on BluRay. Sadly, depending on the lighting situation it's quite noticeable but I tried my best to choose settings in PhotoScape that would minimize the graininess & noise as much as possible.

Capped the first episode of SPN's third season from the BluRay file last night. Thought I'd share a few notes and comparisons.

Time spent capping the episode: 4 1/2 hours (Took a little longer because I was also watching TV. :P)
Original Cap Count: 1,467
Final Cap Count (after sorting & deleting): 1,085

Original DVD 1x01 Cap Count: 632

Here's a comparison between the DVD cap (top) to the new BluRay cap (bottom).
Note that these are both the original caps right out of the media player and untouched by me.

Again we see that the original DVD cap has stronger color and might be seen as the better one compared to the paler BluRay one. However, you have to take into account that I've changed the settings on the VLC player since I initially capped this eppy. I found I was getting caps that had too much color and the settings on the player on my Mac were especially too strong.
