My theories about Born Under A Bad Sign

After reading about this week's episode on Spoilerfix.com I began coming up with some theories for "Born Under A Bad Sign". Granted, whenever I think I've got an episode figured out, I find by the time it airs that Kripke has thrown me a curve ball and proven my theories completely wrong. So keep in mind that these are just some ideas that began floating around in my head, because this show makes me think all the time and I often can't get myself to quit. I'm sure once we see the episode this Thursday, my predictions will be utterly rediculous and wrong, so don't take them too seriously.
Here are some of the promo photos that came out last week. *rubs hands together* Ooooh! I can't wait to see this episode! It's going to be so angsty, I can tell. Lots of tension, emotion, and angst - my kind of episode!

So I'll just spit out my theories about this episode right now and then I'll get into the explanations....
I think this episode will be either partly or wholly be the dream/nightmare of Dean or Sam.
Why, you may ask? Let's look at some of the clues...
* The original title for this episode was "Welcome To My Nightmare". If that doesn't indicate this as a dream I don't know what does. I realize I'm being literal here, but it's the first thought that came to mind reading the title.
* Here's the description of the episode from Spoilerfix:
After receiving a frantic call from Sam, who has been missing for over a week, Dean races to his brother's side. He finds Sam covered in blood, but unable to remember anything that happened. Upon investigation, the brothers are horrified to discover a tape that shows Sam killing another hunter in cold blood, causing Sam to believe his evil side is finally taking over.
Before I saw the promo for this episode after "Houses of the Holy" I couldn't figure out why on earth Sam would leave Dean again. Now it looks like he just disappears for some unknown reason, but possibly because a demon has possessed him.
* I hear there is also a rumor about Sam shooting Dean in this episode according to TWOP. Thanks to x5vale for this tidbit.
* Then there are these photos posted by twistedlaletz. They show Dean with a bloody nose! Does Sam finally collect on that rain check, or does PossessedSammy attack Dean?
So if we gather all the evidence from all the sources we get the following:
Sam has been gone for a week and Dean's been calling around trying to track his brother down. Dean is obviously worried sick about Sam being gone and out of his sight. Sam finds himself covered in blood and with no memory of what's happened. He calls Dean, who comes running to his brother's aid. However, there is a video tape of Sam killing a hunter (possibly slitting his throat, based on the promo). Nobody at the motel where Sam is staying saw anything unusual and said he's been quiet (DC clips). Sam, upset by his actions and loss of memory believes he's finally fulfilling his destiny and becoming evil. Somehow, they end up at Bobby's place, where a now possessed Sam is tied to a chair. Bobby and Dean perform an exorcism on Sam.
Bobby is apparently supposed to appear in the next episode "Tall Tales" as well. This seems odd that a character would be in two episodes in a row. Plus, the next 2 episodes seem much lighter in nature than what we've been seeing this season. Why have such a dark episode such as "Born Under A Bad Sign" and then suddenly seemingly ignore the trauma of a possession and exorcism for much lighter fare? I just can't see them moving on so quickly after something like that.
So who's dream/nightmare might this episode be? I'd have to say Dean. The fact that Sam suddenly disappears on him is a nightmare in itself. Dean doesn't want to be alone and he doesn't want Sam out there on his own with the possibility that he may turn darkside. He's got to be there to protect his brother. And I can think of no worse scenario for Dean than to have Sam become possessed and kill someone. Dean's been trying to keep Sam from killing just about anything for a very long time now. He always gives Sam a gun only when it's really needed and even in the last episode he went off to chase the bad guy while Sam did the seance in the church. Oh, and I've read where some have wondered how a possessed Sam would allow himself to be trapped by the circle on Bobby's ceiling? Maybe Dean knocks him out somehow and takes him there? Maybe the demon doesn't take possession again until after they arrive there? Hard to say. And I don't know what to say about Sam shooting Dean. Nothing in the photos indicates this and if he does it can't be a fatal shot (no Dean, no series). The symbol seen on Sam's arm in the photos is confusing as well. Where did it come from? We've never seen it before. Did the demon put it there? Is it some sort of sign that Sam is now under The Demon's control?
So there you have it. Like I said, these theories are just my brain working overtime trying to figure out what I've seen/read about the episode. I'm sure I'll find I'm completely wrong by Thursday night. If this doesn't turn out to be a dream and happens for real...oh my poor boys! *hugs them* If Kripke & Co. does this to the boys/us now, what have they got in store for us by the end of the season???? I shudder to think about how dark the season finale is going to be. *yikes*
If you've read all of this, thanks for listening to my ramblings. I'd love to read your responses and your own theories about this episode if you have any. So please leave me some comments...I eat them up!
