In posting photos from VanCon this year, I've been getting some questions about the camera I use, but I thought rather than just give info. about the one camera, I'd introduce you to all 3 of them.

First, I want to thank all of you who left me such wonderful, loving, and supportive comments to my major melt-down the other day. As I told several of you, once I got started, I couldn't seem to quit and all my emotions and irrational thoughts came spilling out. So parts of it were a bit extreme, but it's truly the way I felt at the time.

What I've decided about my LJ... )

raloria: (Default)
I just had to make a special post to celebrate the birthday of a very special person, by best friend. You on my flist know her as GeckoGirl. She's got a LJ now (Yaaaaay!), so I know she'll see this. Allow me to indulge, 'cause I've been friends with this gal for almost 20 years. Yes, 20 years! Can you believe it, girl? :)

How do you thank a person for a life? For simply being there through good times and bad, even though miles apart? I know you like to give me a lot of credit for helping you over the years, but it goes both ways, hun. You've helped me more times than I can count. You've been my cheerleader, my champion, my inspiration, my counselor, my guide. I don't even want to think of what my life would have been without you. When I've given up on myself you've always been there to build me back up, never wavering from your belief in me. For years I used to believe you would just walk away, as so many other friends had done, but you stayed through everything. Even though you reassured me this friendship would stand the test of time, I had been burned so many times, I didn't believe it. I do now. There's no doubt in my mind that we'll be friends, as you've said so many times, when we're old and grey. I admire that you're always challenging yourself, learning new things, with a boldness I myself do not possess. You've made it through so many difficult times and always found a way to triumph over them, becoming stronger on the other side. You listen to my rantings, give me advice, and most of all provide a steady shoulder to lean on. I know you're not going to believe that you deserve any of this praise, but trust me, sweetie, you do! *Hugs* :D

Happy Birthday my dearest, best friend!!!

Wow! This is really late, but it couldn't be helped. Quizzes in college classes will do that. Hmph. But better late than never, I always say. :D

If you want a little bit more of my thoughts check out my First Impressions Post for this episode. Please remember that the caps here are just small for the review. I'll be posting the full sized caps in a regular picspam later on.

All the caps within this review were taken from my own Hi-Def recording of the episode. You're free to take any that you like, as long as you give me credit. There are 104 caps, but most of them are clickable thumbnails in consideration of my fellow dial-up users.

Sorry once again for posting this so late. I've been told by a few, that it's okay and you don't mind waiting. Well, me, being the perfectionist I am, mind. I really don't enjoy posting these reviews over a week after the episode has aired. Back in season two I always managed to get my review up at least by Friday morning or Saturday at the very latest. Ah, well...enjoy the review and the caps. :)

Once again I'm terribly late in posting this review. I'm going to keep trying to improve my time, but I'll admit it's a tall order with 2 college classes. Hope you think this was worth the wait. :)

I just want to apologize for posting this review so late. I will try to do better with future reviews. I struggled so much with the quality of the caps that it delayed everything else. Hopefully, you'll still enjoy reading about the season premiere, even though it's a week later. :)

If you read my First Impressions post you already know I thoroughly enjoyed and loved this first episode of season three. Here I'll go into much more detail, with quotes and caps included. Please remember that the caps here are just small for the review. I'll be posting the full sized caps in a regular picspam later on.

The boys are back....My big review & caps -- somewhat dialup friendly )

I've been capping Tall Tales for Thursday and just giggling like crazy from all the facial expressions from our boys. Hilarious doesn't seem to cover it. I swear, there were tears in my eyes! All the things you see going frame by frame....it was just killing me. I had to stop for a while - couldn't take any more. *g*

A little teaser...

I was at one of my local Best Buy stores last night and found myself in the DVD section checking on some things. Since I was there I naturally checked on the status of their copies of SPN. I always like to see how many copies a store has so I can try to see if they're selling or not. This particular store had about 10 copies. I then noticed something that just kind of irked me. They had one copy facing out so you could see the cover and where did they place their price tag sticker? Right over half of Jensen's handsome face! I didn't check the other copies, but I'm sure they were the same way. I was this close to trying to peel the sticker off to reposition it, but I didn't. *Sigh*

And then I come home and finish capping Something Wicked and noticed the same thing on my own copy of the DVD set! All this time and I never really noticed where that sticker was. *shakes head* Yes, I still have the plastic wrapper on the cover - gotta keep my boys protected. *g* And no, I didn't pay $48.99. It was on sale during that first week so I got it much cheaper than that (don't remember now what it was, but oh well...).

Poor Jensen! Why'd they have to stick that thing on his face? That's just...wrong. Grrrrr. *goes to peel the sticker off my own DVD set*

Okay, here we go...at long last. Part of me is happy that this is the last review I'll have to do for a while (for obvious reasons: time, all the work involved), but the other part is sad that this wonderful second season is over. While I loved Season One, imo Season Two far surpassed it in quality. Everything was stepped up to a whole new level, which just made for a better show.

This season finale was no exception. With excellent acting by Jensen, Jared, Jim Beaver, and Fredric Lane under the careful eye of director, Kim Manners, it turned into a very dramatic hour of television.

*** Included in the review are 132 caps from my DVD recording of the episode as it aired. I'm actually quite proud of the quality of them this time. Did some major tweaking of the controls in Irfanview and was able to make them look fairly good. The usual rules apply, if you want to use any of these caps for graphics or whatever, I just ask that you please give me a credit. ***

Most of the caps are presented as clickable thumbnails, but 10 of the caps are seen here in their full 500 x 261 size.

I had also intended to include downloads of MP3 files of the key scenes. However, the seven files topped out at a whopping 32mb file size even in a zipped folder. Too big for me to upload to SendSpace on my puny dialup connection at home. Instead, you'll have to wait until Wednesday when I'll be going to the college and I'll upload them then. I'll make a special post to give you the links (I'm breaking it up into 2 zipped folders).

So grab a bag of peanut M&Ms, a box of tissues ('cause, to quote a certain animated bat "This can only end in tears!"), have a seat, and enjoy the review....

OMG! The big day is finally here. We find out officially if SPN is renewed for a 3rd season, plus we get the big season two finale! To say I'm excited about the day/evening would be an understatement. The excitement's just going to build throughout the day and I know I'm going to be a quivering, nervous wreck by 9:00 tonight. And I will resist the urge to read people's comments about the episode. Sometimes it just sucks so bad living on the west coast.

Btw, who's brilliant (not!) idea was it to put a special about Lost on at 10 p.m. tonight? I've gotta go from the emotional season finale of SPN straight to Lost??? I'd record the Lost special, but I get lousy reception on ABC. They're supposed to give a lot of info. about what's yet to come in the last few episodes. *Sigh* Couldn't they have picked another night?

Anyway, back to SPN. *Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee* I spent a few hours yesterday afternoon at the college computer lab downloading everything I could get my grabby little hands on concerning Jensen at the Asylum Con. Got lots of great videos and mp3s as well as a ton of photos (for my own personal drooling). Thank God for that great "Save as..." feature where you can save a whole webpage and its photos in one quick go. Saved me a lot of time. Can't wait to look and listen to more of it later on, while I'm waiting for 9 o'clock to roll around, lol.

Had to include a little photo from tonight's eppy. I don't think it's overly spoilerish. I mean, it really gives nothing away except that Dean's distraught with grief (duh!). I can't wait to see what Jensen does in this episode. Should be another stand out performance. And how awesome is it that he's on the list of nominees for an Emmy for this episode? I'm so proud of him. The guy really deserves it. He's consistantly giving top-notch performances every week. Aaarrrrgggghhh! Oh man, he's gonna cry tonight and then I'm gonna cry. I just know it! I was nearly in tears from the last scene in part one. Everytime I watch that scene or hear my audio file of it, or even look at the caps I nearly lose it. I can't wait to see what happens tonight. I'm somewhat spoiled, but the spoilers really haven't given very much away and for that I'm greatful. I want to be surprised. I'm confident Kripke's going to give us a great show. If he just answers a few more questions I think I'll be happy. Like about the burned Roadhouse and Ash.

I could go on and on here. But I won't. Now it's just time to keep busy, post my Thursday picspam (like anyone's going to be checking that out today - ha!), and get ready for tonight's big show. I've even got a small package of Peanut M&M's all ready to snack on during the hour. Dean would so approve!

I really didn't want to be posting this so late. Seems like whenever I do, hardly anyone looks at it. To those of you who do take the time to read and look at all of this, I thank you so much for your patience. I would've posted this by Friday night, but my movie premiere function took longer than I anticipated. Enjoy!

I just couldn't resist posting the caps from the preview for the first part of the season finale shown at the end of the last episode. I'm making them a separate post just to be safe for those people avoiding anything spoilery. I even refrained from stating the title of the episode.

This review contains 186 caps from my DVD recording of the episode. Yeah, I went cap crazy again. With a Dean-centric episode, can you blame me?

Lots of caps (dialup friendly) & audio files along with my review... )

Sorry this is so late (still sick, afterall), but I figure the number of caps and all the quotes will make up for it. Ha! Happy reading!

After the laughs from last week's episode it was good to get back to a story more serious in nature. Of course, with Dean being Dean, there was still plenty of humor to go around. But the scary (or in my case, creepy) aspect of the show was back in full force, preparing us for the impending season finale.

Since many of the images from the preview for the next episode flashed by too quickly for me, I decided to make some caps. Only 4 episodes left! No! Say it isn't so! I'm so torn. I can't wait to see these remaining episodes, yet I don't want the season to be over.

Just another little status report to let you know why there hasn't been any updates lately...

This way to what's been going on in my busy world and some caps from my documentary crew footage... )
