"The Christmas Cottage" - The DVD Extras
Jan. 24th, 2009 02:47 amFinally tracked down a copy of "The Christmas Cottage" on DVD yesterday. Yay!
I've been listening to the commentary and watching the featurettes.
Frankly, as nice and pleasant as the film is, you get the director, Michael Campus, and Thomas Kinkade together and it becomes this huge overgrown lovefest. *gag* I get it....Kinkade grew up in poverty and in a broken home, but he's hardly the only person to start out in such conditions. Sheesh. Yet they continued to shove this down your throat throughout the commentary and the featurettes. It gets to be a bit much IMO.
And to be honest, I still think Kinkade is a bit full of himself.
There are some highlights to report though....
* The director referring to Jared as the next Jimmy Stewart. :)
* Jared talking about first meeting Peter O'Toole on the set and being accepted so freely as a fellow actor.
* Marcia Gay Harden reading her poem about the film with a lot of appreciation to the crew.
* The cast talking about their own Christmas memories.
