Wendigo is one of those so-so episodes for me simply because I haven't seen it as many times as some other eppys. It gave us our first (and only?) bad guy in a costume which worked for the most part with help from dark scenes. Then there's all the good stuff: Sam all dark and broody as he deals with Jessica's death, Dean being all flirty yet honest with a girl, peanut M&Ms as survival food, the talk by the campfire outlining the Family Business, tied up and hurt Dean (that never gets old), and Sam's first turn at driving the Impala.

There are 33 caps in this week's first picspam, all made by me from the DVD set. Once again it's Sam-heavy with a little of Dean thrown in. I think we'll make up for that, though, with Thursday's picspam. :)

A little teaser...

* All caps were made by me and adjusted for size, color, contrast, and sharpness.
* Please feel free to take as many of the caps as you like for picspams, graphics, etc., but please give me a credit if you do so.
* I am a comment junkie. I live for feedback and I'm always excited to hear from you, so just take a moment to let me know you stopped by. Thanks!

Wendigo

Even though we find out this was all a dream, I'd like to think Sam did get a chance to say goodbye to Jess.

Jared does a good job here. It must have been a challenge to have such an emotional scene in only the second episode, without much history of the character to work from.

His hair still looks nice and neat here. I'm still wondering how they did this shot of the hand reaching up to grab him. How about having that job? "Now you're going to be underground, see, and we'll make sure you have plenty of oxygen. We'll cover you up with dirt and when you hear action, reach up and grab his wrist!" Sorry, the filmmmaker in me just thinks about these things... And finally we get a brief shot of sleeping Sammy.

Dean...leather jacket...need I say more? *Sigh* Poor Sammy looks a little bothered and bewildered. Dean tries to help by offering to have Sam drive.

I get the feeling this scene was shot against bluescreen because of how dark it is. Still, it's done very well, if it was, with all the great reflections of the trees on the windshield. Of course, as a screencapper, I found those reflections terribly annoying.

I believe that's our first lip-bite of the series. I love the 3rd cap just because it's a great shot of the boys in the car!

Great shot of Jensen with his eyes closed. He does it when Sam says they should have stayed at Stanford a little longer. Just that simple act of closing his eyes for a moment conveyed Dean's feelings perfectly. We can only imagine what that week in Stanford after the fire must have been like and how difficult it must have been for both of them.

Dean counters that they didn't find anything with their investigation and that the only way to find out what killed Jessica is to find their dad. Already we start with the glances at each other - communicating without words. That's one of my favorite parts about the brothers. How much is said without them actually saying anything at all.

Our lovely Impala gets the last word...
