The 30 Days of December Meme
Dec. 14th, 2009 11:07 pmDay 13: A fictional book
Um...I really don't read fictional books anymore. I tried to read "The Adventures Of Huck Finn" earlier this year, but then prepping for VanCon picked up and I never got back to it. However, reading Huck was a plan I had to read a bunch of classics to expand my literary knowledge and I might give it another try next year. ;)
Day 14: A non-fictional book
I actually read much more non-fiction these days, usually filmmaking books. *g* Currently, I'm reading "Singin' in the Rain: The Making of an American Masterpiece" by Earl J. Hess & Pratibha A. Dabholkar, checked out from our public library system. It's one of my favorite films of all time and it's interesting to learn all the back story of how it came about. Oscar Levant as Cosmo Brown? Ugh....no. Don Lockwood, the singing cowboy? Nooooo..... Thank goodness for rewrites. :)
As far as filmmaking books go, I'm almost done with "Strike the Baby and Kill the Blonde: An Insider's Guide to Film Slang" by Dave Knox. It's an awesome little filmmaking dictionary of sorts, but written with a lot of humor. Whenever I go somewhere, like waiting for my car to be serviced, this is the book I take. I can't wait to get it finished so I can start reading it all over again. ;)
