I love it when my filmmaking experiences help me notice things. :)
I capped 5x17 and caught an interesting little item that will one day show up in a future SPN Revealed post. But I couldn't wait, so I'm sharing it now. ;)
In the scene where Sam comes back to the motel room after drinking, Dean goes over to pour himself some coffee and I noticed his right hand was very red. Like blood-stained red. [Caps 339 & 346]
Then there was the later scene where Dean returns to the motel with bloody hands after Paul, the bartender, was killed. [Cap 424]
Put two and two together and this tells me that the bloody hands scene must have been filmed just before the stained hand scene.
I know from past experience with stage blood that it's very hard to wash off and it does stain your skin. It looks like they filmed the post-Paul killing scene first and Jensen couldn't get all the stage blood off. Thus, when they filmed the other scene, his hands were still a bit stained.
On a personal note, stage blood is not fun to work with. When I ended up with it all over my hands, even after washing a couple of times my hands felt weird. Kinda sticky and like there was film all over them. Bleh! I don't envy Jensen & Jared who have to work with it a lot.
